Leonard Hofstadter / Lenny Headcanons🔬✴️
•He had braces for the entirety of high school and didn’t have them removed until late in college because of how messed up his teeth were as a child. He still wears a retainer in adulthood.
•He graduated salutatorian of his high school’s class of 1998!
•In high school he was a part of his schools green club, which is why he has so many recycling t-shirts.
•His first kiss was in college with a girl in his physics lab class—she too, had braces and their brackets got stuck to one another’s. He didn’t kiss another girl until he got said braces removed.
•He’s been wearing glasses since he was a toddler, and as a kid begged his parents for spider-man themed frames—his dad gave in.
•Though he excelled in orchestra he hated it. His parents would never attend his concerts, but he always looked for them in the crowd.
•He worked a part time job at a local bookstore during high school and early college, it was pretty barren so he’d spend his time on homework or reading comic books.
•His college roommate was a complete slob and a player, he’d often have girls over which would lead to Leonard falling asleep in the dorm hallway or common space. He’d also have to constantly clean after him.
•He was close with his little brother until his parents began to favor and praise his achievements, which drove the two brothers apart—straining their relationship. He was never close with his sister for the same reason.
•He cried during his salutatorian speech because it was one of the few times his family attended one of his events. They however, did not cheer when he crossed the stage. His schools orchestra, and club members of which he was part of did though!
•He ate lunch with the chess club in the library!
•When girls would be flirtatious with him he’d convince himself they were just being nice.
•Moving to Pasadena was his first big move! He’d spent his whole life prior to that in New Jersey, and hadn’t been to the west coast before that.
•He only talked to Howard because he was the only person who was shorter than him in the staff lunch room. They got along incredibly well, and he was introduced to Raj the same day!
•He wore the same suit to his high school, college, and grad school graduation ceremonies.
•When he first moved in with Sheldon he thought him to be incredibly annoying, but eventually didn’t mind chauffeuring him around or caring for him because he felt needed. That got old pretty fast though.
•Leonard had a particularly difficult week at work, and Sheldon was being insufferable. Penny had been living across the hall from them for a few months by then. He needed a break and knocked on her door, they went upstairs to the roof where Penny offered Leonard a cigarette. He pretended to be cool and took a drag, which lead to him coughing up a lung and Penny running downstairs to find his inhaler.
•After his first kiss with Penny after the Halloween party he was so excited that he couldn’t sleep at all because kept replaying the moment in his head.
•Once while watching a movie with Penny and Sheldon, Leonard looked over at Penny who was surprisingly interested in whatever they were watching. He called her gorgeous under his breath. She pretended not to notice, but Sheldon made a fuzz about him talking during the movie, which embarrassed Leonard.
•After his first break up with Penny and seeing her hanging out with Zack he would sit alone in his car while blasting Mr. Brightside along with other cliché songs.
•The first concert he went to was the Black Eyed Peas, he went with Penny. He didn’t know who they were prior to her invite and he strictly listened to only them for weeks in preparation. He admitted this to her months later.
•Leonard loves to pay for Penny’s stuff and goes all out for every holiday! He likes giving grandiose gifts even when Penny asks him to not make it a big deal.
•He’s an incredible gift giver. Sheldon rigs secret santa in order so Leonard pick his name out every year. Leonard is aware of this but doesn’t bring it up. He always manages to gift him something he loves.
•He loves feeling Penny’s full weight on top of him when sleeping.
•He let Penny do his makeup on girls night! Once after girls night she made out with him with said makeup on.
•07x06, after finding the pregnancy test in Penny’s box of memorabilia he fixated on how their kids would be like, going to the extent of writing about it in his journal, picking out baby names, and longingly looking and the baby clothes isle at target.
•Penny often tells him what to do in their relationship when it comes to dates and sex. He’s very enthusiastic when it comes to making her happy and giving her what she wants.
•He wears platform dress shoes in order to appear taller than he really is.
•In the finale Penny’s pregnancy is revealed! She was about 16 weeks when the group found out.
•The morning after they conceived Penny took a Plan B, but unbeknownst to her she was already ovulating. After missing her period she had a feeling she was pregnant, Leonard was by her side when she took the pregnancy test. The two lines were so pink they looked almost red. Leonard cried, and Penny did too. For a second he thought she was unhappy but her tears were followed by laughter, which only made Leonard cry harder.
•Leonard did EVERYTHING for Penny during her pregnancy, cooked her meals, drove her to work, she did not lift a finger.
•He bought baby clothes and diapers way before the baby’s sex was even revealed! He was buying superhero and star wars themed baby onesies until Penny pointed out how their baby was going to look like a mini Sheldon. He left the shopping to her after that.
•He BAWLED his eyes out during the gender reveal of their baby, Raj was the one to plan the party and set the cake arrangements. He cried when he and Penny cut the cake and he saw pink. He almost passed out.
•He cried even harder when Penny gave birth. He’d say holding his daughter was the happiest day of his life.
•They lived in the apartment until their daughter turned 2, then they moved into suburban home against Sheldon’s wishes and relentless nagging. They gifted Sheldon and Amy the old couch.
•Leonard and Penny had another kid—a boy, when their daughter was 4.
•Their son turned out like a mini Sheldon. While Sheldon’s daughter was exactly like Penny.
•The group still meets up and spends every holiday together, often going to Leonard Cooper’s hockey games. Their kids grow up together and consider each other family.
•Leonard eventually takes up a job as a professor!
•After forgiving his mother for how she treated him their bond grew closer. Leonard began to visit New Jersey more often. He showed Penny around his childhood town. He took her to his high school football field, where they made out under the bleachers— a first for Leonard.
