Sit under the tree for a moment and watch the water
A man and his dog were walking along a road. The man was enjoying the scenery, when it suddenly occurred to him that he was dead.
He remembered dying, and that the dog walking beside him had been dead for years. He wondered where the road was leading them..
After a while, they came to a high, white stone wall along one side of the road. It looked like fine marble. At the top of a long hill, it was broken by a tall arch that glowed in the sunlight.
When he was standing before it he saw a magnificent gate in the arch that looked like mother-of-pearl, and the street that led to the gate looked like pure gold. He and the dog walked toward the gate, and as he got closer, he saw a man at a desk to one side.
When he was close enough, he called out, 'Excuse me, where are we?'
'This is Heaven, sir,' the man answered.
Would you happen to have some water?' the man asked.
Of course, sir. Come right in, and I'll have some ice water brought right up'.The man gestured, and the gate began to open.
'Can my friend,' gesturing toward his dog, 'come in, too?' the traveller asked.
'I'm sorry, sir, but we don't accept pets.'
The man thought a moment and then turned back toward the road and continued the way he had been going with his dog.
After another long walk, and at the top of another long hill, he came to a dirt road leading through a farm gate that looked as if it had never been closed. There was no fence. As he approached the gate, he saw a man inside, leaning against a tree and reading a book.
'Excuse me!' he called to the man. 'Do you have any water?'
'Yeah, sure, there's a pump over there, come on in..'
'How about my friend here?' the traveller gestured to the dog.
There should be a bowl by the pump.'
They went through the gate, and sure enough, there was an old-fashioned hand pump with a bowl beside it. The traveller filled the water bowl and took a long drink himself, then he gave some to the dog.
When they were full, he and the dog walked back toward the man who was standing by the tree.
'What do you call this place?' the traveller asked.
This is Heaven,' he answered.
'Well, that's confusing,' the traveller said. 'The man down the road said that was Heaven, too.'
'Oh, you mean the place with the gold street and pearly gates? Nope. That's hell.'
'Doesn't it make you mad for them to use your name like that?'
'No, we're just happy that they screen out the folks who would leave their best friends behind.'

Not sure who did the artwork, but the story is by Earl Hamner Jr.
It's from an episode of The Twilight Zone called "The Hunt" from 1962.
The closing narration of that episode:
"Travelers to unknown regions would be well advised to take along the family dog. He could just save you from entering the wrong gate. At least, it happened that way once—in a mountainous area of the Twilight Zone."
History books often overlook a deeply human habit of Barack Obama during his presidency. On some of the most pressure-filled nights, he would retreat alone to the Treaty Room on the second floor of the White House residence—not to strategize or take calls, but to handwrite letters to ordinary Americans.
Every single night, he personally selected messages from the roughly 40,000 letters the White House received daily. His correspondence director, Fiona Reese, later shared that he would sometimes become emotional reading them, quietly folding certain letters before sitting down to respond. The replies were deeply personal, written with such care that many recipients described receiving them as one of the most meaningful moments of their lives. One steelworker from Ohio even wrote back saying Obama’s letter changed the course of a life-altering decision for his family.
What makes this practice even more powerful is the way he approached it. Obama refused to use a computer. He wrote first drafts on yellow legal pads with a black felt-tip pen, then rewrote each letter by hand on official White House stationery. As he later told historian Doris Kearns Goodwin, the physical act of writing forced a level of attention and presence that typing simply could not replicate.
That belief was shaped by his years teaching constitutional law at the University of Chicago from 1992 to 2004. He came to see democracy as something that only works when leaders stay closely connected to the real, often uncomfortable weight of individual human experiences—rather than viewing them from a distance through institutions or screens.

The standoff with agents happened on Jan. 8, one day after an ICE agent shot and killed Renee Good in south Minneapolis. Wooten’s refusal to comply with ICE was captured on video and posted to Facebook.
The agents tried everything to intimidate the guard.
“You can’t come back here, bro,” Wooten can be heard in the video saying to an agent wearing a mask and sunglasses. “I’m talking to your manager,” the agent said. Wooten responded: “No, you’re talking to security, I’m in charge.”
ICE left empty-handed. Wooten said he just stood his ground, “10 toes down.”
“I was doing my job like I’m supposed to,’’ Wooten said. “If you don’t stand for something, you’ll fall for anything. I just want to make my family safe because I’ve been here three years.”
Frustrated Immigration and Customs Enforcement officers fled a Minnesota neighborhood after residents alerted each other by triggering car a
Basically, people are using their key fobs to set off their car alarms when they see ICE.
This is effective for several reasons:
Obviously, it alerts everyone that something is wrong. Given ICE has been terrorizing Minnesota, people are likely to immediately know it is ICE. This gives people time to flee or barricade themselves in their homes.
ICE loses the element of surprise.
If one person hears a car alarm go off, they can trigger their own alarm, alerting even more people, but also making it really annoying for ICE. Annoying sounds petty, but it can be effective. Have you ever been in a building when a super loud fire alarm went off? It's very hard to concentrate. You can't hear much else. You just want to leave. ICE experiences this when a whole street if car alarms go off. Which means they make mistakes.
This was how we were alerted to ICE attempting to gain access to our apartment building. This 100% works.

I highly recommend watching this testimony from Aliya Rahman, the disabled woman who was dragged out of her car and kidnapped by ICE on her way to a doctor appointment in Minneapolis a few weeks ago.
Truly my worst nightmare.
Ok the US Attorney General says that she will remove ICE if MN drops all our sanctuary laws, complies with ICE, hands over all our SNAP, Medicaid and voter rolls. They demand control over our voter registration so they can "ensure free and fair elections".
They want to control our elections.
I am dead serious people call your representatives. Get volunteering. Get protesting. Get LOUD.
They released a letter full of straight up lies. Spread the truth. MAKE NOISE.

ICE violently detained a Virginia mother while she was driving her daughter to school because she couldn’t recite her Social Security number from memory.
'When she stumbled, the agent got flustered and just lunged at her,' said her 16-year-old daughter. The mother immediately showed proof of her legal status: work permit, Social Security card, driver’s license, and car registration."
"ICE arrested her anyway.
Jaykie Funez-Andrade is now being held in Rockingham County Jail with no criminal charges, reportedly as a 'courtesy' to ICE. The arrest occurred on Route 11 North in Harrisonburg, VA.
'I want this video out there because I want my mother home,' her daughter said."
This behavior by federal agents is criminal.
They use the second amendment as a reason to openly brandish guns for no reason other than "because I can". Think of all those times when people carried assault rifles on their routine shopping trips.
Then, when someone actually uses the second amendment for its intended purpose, to fight back against a tyrannical government, those same people complain.

I want to be very clear on this. You can be out drinking with your friends on Friday night and dead on Sunday because of meningitis. Does that sound a little specific? Guess why I have such a specific scenario in mind.
And getting vaccinated is an easy way to prevent that. There is no medical reason to stop recommending that vaccine. There's no new study that shows that it's unsafe, there's no replacement that's better. This is literally the government making its citizenry less safe for no reason.
