I have purpose though. I will of course use this time to look after me too. But mostly I just want to help my parents get to a better place. My childhood home is being sold, and I've decided to take the particularly awful job of deep cleaning it off my dad's hands, because let's face it, he would do a shit job anyway. I know it'll help my mum's stress levels if she knows I've got it in hand. I just want her to be as happy as she can be. A few weeks ago she had a meeting with her doctor, first time face to face since the start of the pandemic. Sadly they have reiterated that there is nothing more to be done, other than continue chemo. Since this she has been low, and struggling with kidney infections and just not been good. I can't help her with any of that, but I can help my dad, who is so overworked doing everything for her I'm surprised he's not ill himself. Without work and it's endless reason for me to be exhausted, I feel I can achieve something for them.

You can't do everything all the time. But you can choose to fix the things that matter the most. Something had to give and sadly that was my work, I put so much physical and mental energy into it I don't have energy for anything else in life, and as much as I want that to be sustained, it can't be.

These two weeks I will make things a little easier for my parents, and hopefully when I return to work I will be able to give more to the residents who I love so dearly then I have been these last few months.
