i was talking to these two people at a show and they were straightedge and the way they talked about it really resonated with me as an annoying fucking vegan (the person who framed it in this way was vegan and straightedge!) because ive never heard people who are straightedge exclusively frame it as boycotting the industry and what it does to people and the world i've almost always heard it as like a personal choice cause drugs are bad for you vs a political action/lifestyle you are taking/adopting
