VERY rough preview of the start of the next chapter of āThe Ultimate Gambleā! Catch up in time for the next chapter to dropā¦hopefully by this weekend!
Reminder: THIS IS NOT ZENICHI/AFOFA. Just the typical incredibly creepy canon Zen shenanigans.
Chapter Summary: Izuku finally arrives at the Quirk ceremony with high hopes that Yoichiās consciousness also followed them to this alternate world. Tomuraāas Tenkoāalso arrives with his grandmother, Nana, in tow to work as security. All Might, or rather, just Toshinori Yagi now, tries to figure out a way to stop the carefully laid plans of his alternate version before tragedy strikes. During all of this, Yoichi finds himself battling strange thoughts and feelings while Zen sits in the shadows waiting to bestow Quirks on the Quirkless.
-āWeāre almost there. Iām freaking out.ā
-āKeep to the darkness, my friend!ā
-āStfu dekuuu! Or ill blas in & how that nutsac head whooo boss!ā
-āBakugo! Our dear friend does not need that right now! Do not fret, Midoriya! If anything happensā¦Iāll rush in there! Iāll never leave a classmate behind! We are with Todoroki, but he said his father isnāt in. Something to do with the event youāre attending I presume. As well as his older brother.ā
-āWhy u sendin a fuckin book, 4 eyes?!ā
Izuku tried desperately to type more, but his phone was a blur in his hands. His nerves were getting the best of him and it was driving him crazy! He thought he had grown out of thisāthat he was a hero capable of standing up against the biggest bad guys. Even All for One.
Was it because he was in a whole new world under the manās rule? Or that he truly had no idea what to expect, especially since he had never encountered the man in his prime? Worseā¦could it be that the body he inhabited simply wasnāt used to anything this terrifying? Could itā
āIzuku, honey, donāt be nervous!ā
He almost got whiplash turning to look at his mother. āI-Iām fine!ā He blurted out, his voice reaching an octave so high he was surprised the window didnāt shatter. āJustā¦umā¦meeting the prince?ā His mother smiled and nodded for him to continue. āItāsā¦a lot, you know? Iām just soā¦star struck?ā
Bless his mother for not picking up on his attempts at trying to sound like he knew what he was doing. Orā¦maybe she did and was just too good of a mother to point it out. Either wayā¦
āOh, Izuku!ā Inko whispered as he hugged her. āThereās no reason to worry! Prince Shigaraki is the kindest, most wonderful person in the world! Emperor Shigaraki says so!ā
Izuku pulled away at that and schooled his face. To hear his dear mother talk about All for One in such a wayā¦he wasnāt sure if it repulsed or terrified him.
āRight. Just like the Emperor saysā¦ā
āThatās the spirit, sweetie!ā Inko said before rolling down the window as they reached a heavily guarded parking garage. Izuku tuned out the one million questions the guard was asking as he rolled over the plan in his head.
2. Try to get through to First that heās here too and needs his help.
4. Try to weasel out of having to get close to All for One
āIzuku! Itās time!ā His motherās sing-song voice pulled him out of his anxious muttering. He looked around and realized they were parked in a veryā¦vacant underground parking level. She motioned for him to get out.
Before he did so, he attempted to text his friends one last thingā
Izuku looked out his window to find a burly security guard motioning at his phone.
āSweetheart! Remember? No phones!ā Inko said as she pulled her own from her purse and happily handed it off to another guard. Izuku slowly opened the door and wiggled himself through, the guard hardly moving an inch. The man put out a calloused hand and Izuku, despite his better judgement, handed it over.
