VERY rough preview of the start of the next chapter of âThe Ultimate Gambleâ! Catch up in time for the next chapter to dropâŚhopefully by this weekend!
Reminder: THIS IS NOT ZENICHI/AFOFA. Just the typical incredibly creepy canon Zen shenanigans.
Chapter Summary: Izuku finally arrives at the Quirk ceremony with high hopes that Yoichiâs consciousness also followed them to this alternate world. Tomuraâas Tenkoâalso arrives with his grandmother, Nana, in tow to work as security. All Might, or rather, just Toshinori Yagi now, tries to figure out a way to stop the carefully laid plans of his alternate version before tragedy strikes. During all of this, Yoichi finds himself battling strange thoughts and feelings while Zen sits in the shadows waiting to bestow Quirks on the Quirkless.
-âWeâre almost there. Iâm freaking out.â
-âKeep to the darkness, my friend!â
-âStfu dekuuu! Or ill blas in & how that nutsac head whooo boss!â
-âBakugo! Our dear friend does not need that right now! Do not fret, Midoriya! If anything happensâŚIâll rush in there! Iâll never leave a classmate behind! We are with Todoroki, but he said his father isnât in. Something to do with the event youâre attending I presume. As well as his older brother.â
-âWhy u sendin a fuckin book, 4 eyes?!â
Izuku tried desperately to type more, but his phone was a blur in his hands. His nerves were getting the best of him and it was driving him crazy! He thought he had grown out of thisâthat he was a hero capable of standing up against the biggest bad guys. Even All for One.
Was it because he was in a whole new world under the manâs rule? Or that he truly had no idea what to expect, especially since he had never encountered the man in his prime? WorseâŚcould it be that the body he inhabited simply wasnât used to anything this terrifying? Could itâ
âIzuku, honey, donât be nervous!â
He almost got whiplash turning to look at his mother. âI-Iâm fine!â He blurted out, his voice reaching an octave so high he was surprised the window didnât shatter. âJustâŚumâŚmeeting the prince?â His mother smiled and nodded for him to continue. âItâsâŚa lot, you know? Iâm just soâŚstar struck?â
Bless his mother for not picking up on his attempts at trying to sound like he knew what he was doing. OrâŚmaybe she did and was just too good of a mother to point it out. Either wayâŚ
âOh, Izuku!â Inko whispered as he hugged her. âThereâs no reason to worry! Prince Shigaraki is the kindest, most wonderful person in the world! Emperor Shigaraki says so!â
Izuku pulled away at that and schooled his face. To hear his dear mother talk about All for One in such a wayâŚhe wasnât sure if it repulsed or terrified him.
âRight. Just like the Emperor saysâŚâ
âThatâs the spirit, sweetie!â Inko said before rolling down the window as they reached a heavily guarded parking garage. Izuku tuned out the one million questions the guard was asking as he rolled over the plan in his head.
2. Try to get through to First that heâs here too and needs his help.
4. Try to weasel out of having to get close to All for One
âIzuku! Itâs time!â His motherâs sing-song voice pulled him out of his anxious muttering. He looked around and realized they were parked in a veryâŚvacant underground parking level. She motioned for him to get out.
Before he did so, he attempted to text his friends one last thingâ
Izuku looked out his window to find a burly security guard motioning at his phone.
âSweetheart! Remember? No phones!â Inko said as she pulled her own from her purse and happily handed it off to another guard. Izuku slowly opened the door and wiggled himself through, the guard hardly moving an inch. The man put out a calloused hand and Izuku, despite his better judgement, handed it over.
