This Thing They Call Life

Do not stop loving God because someone who claimed to represent God, misrepresented Him.

The fact that she is a woman is far less important than the fact that she is herself.

There’s nothing too dirty that You can’t make worthy.

Hold up your hands. Look at your palms. Do you have any scars there? No? Then you can’t fix anyone. Stop trying to be their solution. Only Jesus can fix people.

Raise your words, not voice. It is rain that grows flowers, not thunder.

Sometimes I go to God and say, “God, if Thou dost never answer another prayer while I live on this earth, I will still worship Thee as long as I live and in the ages to come for what Thou hast done already. God’s already put me so far in debt that if I were to live one million millenniums I couldn’t pay Him for what He’s done for me.

‘I don’t feel very much like Pooh today,’ said Pooh. ‘There there,’ said Piglet. ‘I’ll bring you tea and honey until you do.’

Am I trying to please people? If I wanted to please people, I would not be a servant of Christ.

I pray to be a woman who understands the beauty of gentle strength. A woman who does not feel pressured to prove to the world that she is ‘tough.’ I pray to be a woman who knows deep within her heart that every fiber of strength she owns was never hers to flaunt, but instead was entrusted by her heavenly Father so that she may radiate the beauty of his heart in all she does.

I want to reach for God the way I reach for my phone. When I’m bored, when I’m uncomfortable, when I need answers or entertainment, when I’m lonely and need someone to talk to.

One bad day does not undo the work of Jesus, who on the cross, in one day, undid all the power of sin and shame.
