And about how she had her freedom bought for her by her village selling out Fisher Tiger, her saviour, and she refused to accept that deal. We don't know exactly how things went down but she probably could have just forgotten about all that happened, she could have lived peacefully with her family and her community for the rest of her life. But instead she chose to fight to change the world. And she chose to explicitly align herself with the fishmen, even becoming the only known human to practice their martial arts.

None of that was chosen for her, none of that was about her lineage. And even though she's a former slave, the WG let her go. The adults around her hated fishmen and if she had listened to them and chosen the convenient answers, she could have moved on and abandoned the cause. But no, she committed. And I think it's kinda implied that she ran away from home like Sabo, because she sure did join the RA at a VERY young age.
