Mallian and Dominy

Mallian (Mal, they/she) is an adult yellow shlorpian with a darker yellow eyespot over their right eye. She is twin to Maxxian. She was my second oc I created for the lineup.

Mal is a replicant of a renowned xenobiologist (biologist who studies alien animals) and trained under her, learning. They spent a lot of time off-planet growing up and as such never grew a tight bond or connection to the homeplanet Shlorp. As a grown adult Mallian became a xenobiologist herself and focused on carnivorous alien species as her form of study. She has a doctorate! Or, the shlorpian equivalent at least. Her personality is eccentric and excitable but rational. They can be a bit of a risk-taker. Later in her story she becomes lifemate to Dominy.

Dominy (Dom, he/him) is an adult purple shlorpian with no distinctive spots or markings. Dom was raised by the Shlorpian government, unwanted by his donor adult. Upon aging out of the system he was assigned to transport work bringing cargo and higher ranking folk from place to place. Eventually he caught the eye of a rich shlorpian who wanted him to work for them as a pilot/chauffeur, allowing Dom to save enough money to own his own modest ship while he continued his primary job. Personality: gruff and sometimes irritable. Wants to do his job well and efficiently. Protective of his family but you won’t catch him admitting it. He is all about security, to the point of anxiety- in his cargo-hauling days he witnessed his whole team die to varmints and had to survive for a week alone before rescue.

These two would encounter each other by chance one day. Mal was running late for a meeting off-planet and paid Dom to fly them to their meeting. The period of time they were gone was when Shlorp was destroyed. They came back to find the planet dead and gone and headed into space in Dom's small ship with no idea what to do.

Ben and Yazmina

Ben (he/him) is a red shlorpian who is a young adult, and is one I've shared a lot around and love to talk about. Distinctive features include a blinded left eye which bears a scar down it. He is a gentle soul, kind and with patience to spare. While runtish in his early years he is the replicant of a mutant shlorpian with gigantism and as such has inherited it. At his full height he's about 8 ft tall! He experiences body dysmorphia at times because of his height and size once he gets the first of his growth spurts. Modern-day Ben works as a farmhand on Earth. He has a deep love and care for all aspects of the farm, especially for animals and takes joy in caring for them.

You may notice I ship him with Yumyulack, a canon character from the show. This ship is incredibly personal to me, as I project a lot of my own real-life feelings about my late teen years onto Yumyulack, and pairing him with Ben is very healing to me. Unless stated otherwise, Ben/Yum pictures take place in a post-canon au where both are roughly the equivalent to 20 in shlorpian years. They are the same age, plus or minus a few months.

Personality: (Younger): very shy and cautious, but kind and sweet. (Older): friendly and open, worried about others and expresses concern for them. Ben cares about being helpful or useful to the detriment of his own health at times. Sensitive over his scarred eye. Slow to anger but will end things decisively if you piss him off. He suffers from mild PTSD.

Yazmina (Yaz, she/her) is a light blue young adult shlorpian who wears hearing aids. She is otherwise hard of hearing, close to deaf. Yaz is the adopted sister of Ben and both share a close platonic, familial bond. The replicant of a rich shlorpian, living on Earth has let her really feel freedom for the first time in her life and she's flourished. Her personality is wild, brash, blunt and fun-loving. She cares and feels deeply about whatever it is she's feeling about. She identifies as a lesbian, but is only loosely attached to the concept of being a woman. Her hobbies include vulture culture and exercising. Between her and Ben, she's the one you don't want to mess with. She is slightly older than Ben, and much like Ben, most times I draw her are taking place in the modern-day when she is roughly 20 years old.

Both were discovered by Mal and Dom, young and the only two survivors of an ill-fated team. Their team leader- Ben's dad- died to kill a T-Rex who attacked their camp, and Yaz's mother perished in the initial attack. This is the source of their injuries and scars which healed the way they did due to Dom's lack of evacuation team technology and the ship Ben and Yaz were in was largely totaled.

Maxxian and Aran

Maxxian and Aran. These characters get into a very gray area canon-wise. While my first 4 would work reasonably in-setting for a team, these two lean on headcanon for the show itself as well as my own homebrew for the setting.

Maxxian (he/him) is Mallian's twin co-replicant. He matches her in color, except the spot over his eye is opposite on his left. Both grew from the same cutting, which is why he is missing an arm. They were connected at the arm, and he simply didn't grow one, which is why he didn't regenerate one as he didn't have it to begin with. Unlike Mal however, Max went into the military where he served as a medic. Later he would be captured by silvercops off-planet where he was forced to work for them in their experiments on shlorpian biology.

Aran (he/him) is a member of a cave jungle dwelling subspecies of shlorpian I created called vesper shlorpians. In the past he is fully-green but modern day he is a patchwork of greens and blues. He grew up as a weak sprout and early in his life had a bit of a "something to prove" complex which led to him being injured, after which he took up a job in childcare. During a routine trip off-planet his ship was intercepted and Aran captured by rogue silvercops. He sustained heavy injuries during this, and was patched up by silvercop doctors via grafts before being handed to Max to watch over him and report back with data.

Both Max and Aran later escaped the silvercops base, leaving no survivors and escaping in a ship. They ended up on Earth after tracking a beacon that Mal had set up in hopes of finding their lost co-replicant and live on the farm present day.

After his ordeal, Aran is selectively mute, typically only speaking with a handful of his family (Max of course, but he warmed up to Ben quite quickly). He knows how to sign ASL and vesper sign language and the rest of his family knows ASL at the very least. He is intelligent and gentle despite what he went through and will always offer an ear to his loved ones.

Max is a friendly, agreeable guy, if a bit tense. He helps Dom with the security of the home.

Both Max and Aran can and have killed to keep each other safe, and would do so in an instant to protect each other, but they're great people and only resort to violence as a necessity.

Fun fact, Max belongs to my boyfriend! He was created entirely by him, I simply put pen to paper and made him real.

Percy (he/him) was the result of genetic engineering by a rich Shlorpian to have their replicant be unique looking that they can show off. (Designer baby essentially) He has a neutral, brown earthy color unlike other Shlorpians with his spots being lighter than his primary color. He studied what he could on pupae before evacuating with other rich Shlorpians. His team succeeded in obtaining a pupa from a legitimate team. He later fled with his replicant Rosa after being contacted by Dom, who was trying to communicate with anyone he knew in the past to see who was alive. His old team's location and situation since his disappearance is unknown.

Personality: warm and friendly, but guards himself. He is an expert social chameleon able to blend in with groups and change his behaviors easily, but his true self is genuine and kind and he just wants a happy life and his daughter to be safe. Very high charisma.

Rosa (she/her) is the young replicant of Percy. Her colors match his though she's a little brighter shade than he is. She's a happy and sweet child but she tends to shy away from non-shlorpians at least in the earlier days on Earth.

Percy is good friends with Max and Aran, and has an especially good rapport with Aran as both had their bodies changed without their consent for the benefit of others, even if Percy's was genetic vs. Aran's surgical grafts. He's one of the family that Aran will speak with and their young sprouts get on well with one another.

Hector (he/him) is an albino shlorpian who was taken in by the government and raised in private. He was trained to work for them, at first in jobs of subterfuge but eventually moved on to more dirty deeds. He's taken out many an enemy of the shlorpian government.

Personality: Hector is aloof, blunt, and most interactions with him tend to be tense. He was raised to be efficient, intelligent, and carry himself with surgical precision. Not a movement is wasted with him, and unless you're on good terms with him his words are few.

I am currently working on how his story applies post s6, given I think he might be kept in the dark about the shlorpian scam. He probably will have a crisis of identity should he learn.
