Diary Of A New Knight/ Praetorian Guard

The Force is telling me that there are buried objects off the Scarif shoreline. Some of them possess strange power. Others could be quite valuable.

I invite everyone to take a swim and look for these hidden gems.

Sighing, Pavilla thinks over the many reasons why she’d joined the First Order. There were so many reasons, but that was one was the strongest next to her desire to learn the ways of the Force and find her purpose in life.

Drawing her brows together, she tries to think of what she should say to her sister in arms. What if Ooni thought her to be strange or weak?

Hmm. Sounds like you and @ooni-ren could use some help.

I’m sending you a supply drop with two Lightsabers. They have underwater mods and were taken from the corpse of a foolish Jedi Master.

I think you’ve both been in the sun too long.

The opening is just wide enough for each of them to pass through at a time, and darkness shrouds Pavilla as she slides past the entrance, the only source of light filtering through the gap in the wall.

There is an ominous feeling that slowly creeps over the girl, the hairs on the back of her neck standing up as she tries to get her bearings in the darkness that wraps around her.

Her hand instinctively moving to the her hip to grab for her Riot Baton, she momentarily forgets that she is not in her usual attire, her fingers nonetheless unclipping the foreign, old saber hilt from its place by a holster strapped to her hip.

The saber that she now holds is not her own, the girl closing her eyes as she remembers the familiar visions and dreams of a blade as black as night that is flecked and shrouded by white.

Shaking her head, she ignites the blade, the dark space soon covered in blue light that reminds her of the water that now churns violently against the fallen ship.

“Pav, I don’t like this. Why is the Force calling us here? This place seems dangerous…” Ooni whispered. Why she was whispering, she didn’t know. No one else was there, but it seemed like the sort of situation where one would want to whisper. Perhaps that was the effect the dark had on her. She walked deeper into the ship, finding a sturdy panel that lead up. She walked upwards and began to notice several smaller ships around them. By the looks of things, many resistance ships were jammed through the hull of the destroyer. Ooni was able to put two and two together once she saw an old helmet floating in the cockpit of a crushed X-Wing that blocked the way.

Pavilla finds herself moving through an alcove that she would’ve missed if not for the familiar pull of the Force, her feet almost moving on their own as she treads up a ramp that leads to what looks to be a small room up ahead. The metal beneath her hisses as she steps upon it, a small pang of fear striking her chest when she dips her head to look down.

It is not lost on her that below the ramp is a pit of darkness that she knows she will not survive if she were to lose her footing and fall, but she doesn’t care. She keeps moving despite her better senses that are screaming at her to get away, refusing to give in it them. The Force was calling her here. She could feel it.

Suddenly Pavilla hears a voice. Or rather, a combination of multiple voices into one that call her name. It echoes around her, the girl so taken aback at the onset of it that she jerks her head in the direction from which the voices had whispered her name.

It had come from the small room that is only a few steps ahead, and where she should have felt fear, it had gone away. It had been just as fleeting as the wind that now howled outside of the ship that screamed at its trespassers.

Taking a deep breath, the girl continued on until she took in what must have been an armory. Shelves that spanned the length of the room lined each wall, blasters of every sort and make abandoned as they sat unused amongst each and every rack. Her hand, almost as if being compelled by another force to move, rises toward a blaster called the Westar-35.

Pavilla doesn’t know how she knows the name of the weapon, but she absent-mindedly runs her hand over the space above it, a strange sensation passing over the girl as she does.

Ooni had a sinking feeling in her stomach. Almost like a cat smelling the fear scent of it’s prey, Ooni could sense her friend’s distress. There was definitely something wrong, so Ooni decided to backtrack a bit, going towards the direction Pavilla had.

She got slapped in the face by a stray wire that came loose, but she brushed it off and kept going, “Pavilla?” Ooni called, hearing her voice echo in the damp cavern that the destroyer’s half-sunken shell had formed.

Dark shapes dot her vision, several rising from sands as white as the moon to resemble people, each with blasters in hand as her vision clears to watch the Battle of Scarif unfold.

It only takes Pavilla a moment to understand what had happened. She’d touched an old weapon in the armory that the Force had led her to, and now the Force was showing her segments of the past. It was showing her what had happened here.

There is a man who looks aged by years of battle, his greyed hair matching the long white cape that adorns him as he angrily orders TIE fighters to the beach where rogue rebels have landed and launched an assault as explosions dot the area behind him.

She sees the rebels fall one by one, each dying a brutal and horrifying death, the cries of agony and pain tearing through it all from voices indiscernible despite what she watches before her.

Blackened masses lay abandoned on sand stained with blood, the acrid stench of death filling her nose as the image changes and she sees what must have been the Battle of Scarif.

One has his arms crossed as if he is thinking of something, deep and heavy breaths sounding from some kind of mechanized breathing apparatus that Pavilla knows to be a trademark of the legendary Sith, Darth Vader.

Beside him stands the man that had visited her on her ship following the days she had defected from the Resistance, his old and raspy voice echoing throughout the room,” See to it that you get those plans, apprentice… Make certain that your work and sacrifice will not have been in vain…”

A cruel bout of laughter falls from Sheev Palpatine’s aged lips after that as he turns, his topaz eyes fixing on hers as everything near him begins to fade away.

Extending a hand and pointing to Pavilla, his tone darkens in amusement when he speaks to his only granddaughter and last surviving descendant.

“And you, my young heiress,” He hisses as he hobbles closer to the girl before stopping in front of her to widen his grin,” you must awaken. Awaken, young heiress, to take what is yours and fulfill your destiny.”

She doesn’t register the movement of her companion beside her until Ooni calls her name, hesitance and…was it fear that marked her features as she quirked her head at Pavilla?

She rehearses in her head the protocol for emergencies, “Pavilla? Oh thank gosh you’re awake… I was walking in the other direction, I should have stayed closer to you. We’re on the mission, remember? In the sunken ship?”

She’d been with Ooni, her friend. They’d found a fallen ship among a jetty, the Force drawing Pavilla as she’d lead Ooni to it. The two girls had then started to search the ship in their curiosity. She remembered it all, now.

Moving to stand up, the girl has to put a hand to the wall to catch herself, the room around slowly spinning as she tries to focus her vision.

Shaking her head to her companion, she tentatively replied,” Yes, I remember. I’m fine…”

She trails off when she notices the knowing look her friend gives her, instantly making Pavilla feel guilty for leaving her.

“Do you want to go home, Pav? You look really shaken up, I thought we were having a seizure or something. I can talk to Lord Ren… He might understand if I explain what happened.” Ooni still felt the Force’s presence calling her, lower, this time. Towards the water.

Her mind was clear of that as she spoke, her friend quick to see the sincerity to which Pavilla spoke as her gaze pierced Ooni’s with conviction.

Pavilla moves away from the wall, ignoring the way the room sways around her as she takes a step back. She has to keep moving, she decides.

Inaction was weakness in her mind, so she would not yield.

Considering her friend, she decided to confide in her and tell Ooni what she’d seen as she thinks back to the vision,” The Force showed me what happened here.”

She gestures to the room around her,” This ship… it was carrying relics and old artifacts of the Sith and Jedi when this system was attacked by the rebels in the Battle of Scarif. That’s why you saw so many destroyed ships around the bay,” Pavilla confessed.

Pavilla watches as Ooni’s look of concern grows, her brows drawing together as she thinks over what Pavilla has just told her.

It is lost on Pavilla why Ooni seems so perturbed, but she wants to help rid her friend of the feeling.

She gives a light smile to her friend, hoping that her companion will understand,” I’m fine,Ooni, really. Don’t worry!”

Turning away from Ooni, Pavilla’s vision catches the blaster she’d touched. She only considers it for a second, her hand moving to take the blaster from it’s abandoned place on the shelf as she clips it to her belt.

“Alright, if you’re sure… Just, let me know if something else happens and you want to go. Lord Ren won’t have it if one of us dies or something,” Ooni remarked uneasily. She tightened her grip on the flashlight she brought and slung her pack over her shoulder.

If she was being honest with herself, though, this place was definitely one that made her feel uneasy, but she wasn’t about to admit that to Ooni and worry her friend more than she already had.

Ooni was the first one out of the room and noticed there were some collapsed panels that lead to the middle of the ship, from how high they were, she could see where the submerged part of the ship began and where the dry part ended.

 A large X-Wing was impaled right through the wall of the Destroyer a good drop below them, it was on the other side of the ship and it was very hard to see in the dark, but the reflective stickers were blinding as the flashlight’s glare raked across them.

The vision she’d seen replays in her mind, the girl astounded at how much chaos and death had brought about the fate of the system and ship she was now on. Her grandfather, Sheev Palpatine, had been involved. She knew that to be true as she looked around the metal cavern at smaller X-Wings and dark, gaping holes in the walls.

When Ooni speaks, Pavilla can discern the curiosity paired with need that Ooni has to go  to the rebel ship. The Force was leading her companion there, she knew. If anyone understood the pull of the Force, it was Pavilla.

She ended up sliding down the rest of the way, which was luckily only a few feet. She stood up with disgust and tried to wipe the algae off of her pants to no avail, “Pavilla, you okay back there? We probably should have brought jet packs or something, it’s gonna be a karking pain to get out of here.”

Pavilla watched as her friend descended, fear gripping her as the floor gave out under Ooni and she disappeared into the chasm of water below with a splash.

It was only when Pavilla heard her friend cursing below that she released a breath she hadn’t realized she’d been holding, shaking her head at her friend’s clumsiness. It was just like Ooni to fall hundreds of feet and worry about a kriffing jet pack.

With a relieved sigh, she called out,” We’ll be fine, although I don’t see any fish or anything that would be a problem for us, water girl!”

With that, Pavilla jumps from the metal ledge and finds herself in the water after falling a few meters.

When she surfaces, she holds up one hand to reflexively catch the aquata breather her friend had thrown for her. Scanning her surroundings, she finds Ooni near an X-Wing that was lodged into wall just a little ways ahead of her. 

“Good luck, Ooni. I hope you find whatever it is that the Force is leading you to,” Pavilla calls out, her attention soon seized by the familiar tug of the Force. It seemed to want her to go down towards the ocean floor. 

She had a feeling she’d need it, soon.

Once the blade hisses to life, the girl dives, the blade doing little to light her way as she makes toward the bottom of the metal encased grotto.

From what she can see, there are various artifacts that lay abandoned on what used to be shelves that line each wall to either side of the girl, reminding her of the armory she’d just come from.

She stops at a row of lightsaber hilts, their kyber crystals long gone. She cannot feel any energy from the any of the hilts as she runs a hand over them.The Force was trying to pull her somewhere, to something, but it wasn’t this.

Continuing her descent, she notices broken pieces of various talismans and amulets, their energies also nonexistent when the girl waves her hand over them.

The girl only stops at the very bottom, two small, metal masses flashing against the blue light that shines over them. Upon closer inspection, Pavilla realizes they are charms, each so small that they could be fitted to the side of a lightsaber as the girl slowly pulls them from the sand they had been covered by.

One is as red as blood while the other is as blue as the seas of Scarif, metal twining around each stone in circular patterns. They are set against silver metal that wraps around the front of them in thin arrangements. They are beautiful, she thinks as she puts each in the small satchel that is wrapped around her shoulder.

After she ensures that the charms are secure in her bag, she looks around the dark space, allowing the Force to draw her forward toward a large opening in the wall that looked to be a lair of some sort. Suddenly, as if something within the opening sensed her presence, a loud screech sounded, her ears ringing as she grimaced at the noise.

Where there should have been fear, there was none. She has faced worse.

Pavilla hears the screech again, her head pounding at the onset of it as she rounds a corner. If not for the pull of the Force, she would have missed the small crack in the wall that is big enough only for her to fit through. Her ears still ringing from the sound, she shakes her head in effort to rid herself of the feeling.

Once through, she is met with a metal box, chains encasing and wrapping around it with no noticeable opening to the contraption. The sun’s rays shine upon the box that sits on a pedestal in the room, making it look like some kind of beacon as the girl swam forward to run her hand over the the chrome box.

A few moments passed where she was thrown through void of the vision, but then Ooni saw two crystals on a desk and an old Jedi repairing a long hilt. Her family’s crest hung on a tapestry against the wall by the man, who turned and looked at her.

Pavilla moved backwards, extending a hand out towards the box as she summoned the Force to her with practiced ease. Her days aboard the Legacy had been a help in her ability to wield it, after all. The familiar feeling of it wrapping around her fingers was satisfying as she willed the old, rusted chains to fall from the box, the simple things moving aside and falling to the ocean floor with a defeated thump.

With the chains no longer obstructing her view, Pavilla curled her fingers in, three clicks sounding throughout the small chamber as the lid of the chest slowly rose to reveal a some kind of amulet that had odd markings and symbols carved across it’s smooth, gold surface. In the middle there was a red stone that reminded her of fire as it glistened in the sun. She’d read about amulets from one of Kylo Ren’s holobooks, but she wasn’t sure what this one was or what it did as she tentatively took it from its resting place in the middle of the chest.

Almost as soon as she’d pulled herself out, a shrill screech echoed throughout the cavern once more, the girl’s heart beginning to pound against her chest at the closeness to the origin of the noise as she kicked her legs faster to get out of the cave she’d entered.

“Kriff,” she thought. She needed to get out of here, else she had a nagging feeling that something very bad would happen to her.

Something stirred behind her, the sound of electricity and live wires crackling very loud as the girl’s heart raced, her legs beginning to burn from her efforts of trying to evade whatever was trailing behind her.

Fear threatened to wrap around her as it crawled along her spine when she sensed a large creature was following her, but she refused to allow that. She had gone against worse than this and told herself she would not go down to some measly sea creature. She was a proud Praetorian Guard and apprentice to Kylo Ren, and she would be damned if she didn’t fight and make good on her training.

The noise came again, the darkness that surrounded her slowly dissipating as she made her exit into the open space of the metal grotto.

“Who…Who are all of you?” Ooni asked, clearly confused.

Though she should have been scared that she was about to face such a giant life form, she was not. Instead, she found her adrenaline coursing through her in anticipation of the fight she knew was coming, a knowing smirk peeking at the edges of her lips as she grips at the lightsaber and moves it in front of her, taunting the creature as light blue bolts of electricity ran down its body when it came closer and closer to the girl who remained still near the floor of grotto.

Waiting until the creature was only a few feet away, the girl pushed off the ground to turn upside down once she had moved out of the way of its open jaws, swiftly running her lightsaber through its right eye as it screamed in pain, its body wriggling to the side as she turned the weapon off, only igniting it once more as she pierced the cranium of the giant creature, effectively killing it as it went limp and fell to the ocean floor in defeat.

Pavilla was, if she was being honest with herself, disappointed in how easy it had been to kill the monster, her moment of victory suddenly interrupted when she caught movement out of the corner of her eye.

Turning around to look at the cave she’d just come from, she spotted another electric eel, this one two times the size of the one she’d just fought.

A part of her was excited at the prospect of being able to battle such a large creature, her muscles instinctively loosening as she prepared herself again to fight.

“Let’s go, volt brain,” she thought to herself.

“The fuck?” she thought to herself, before getting an idea. She untied the crystal in her hair and touched it to the crystal from the pilot. The new crystal began to glow and a golden hue crept across its surface. Ooni felt a buzz go through her hands and her body jerked as a burst of energy surged through her. She noticed dark, swishing masses outside of the X-Wing. “Kriff,” Ooni thought.

The crystals began to almost burn her fingertips as they bonded, warmth running up through her veins as the energy flowed through her. She noticed blue swirls forming on her fingers, creeping up her hand and her right arm, etching trails into her skin. Then something hit the ship.

Ooni was smacked into wall of the ship, her aquata-breather breaking and dislodging, falling soundlessly to the floor. She panicked and instantly began to try to swim out of the X-Wing, getting halfway to the exit before she was greeted by the ugly face of an eel jarring the ship and trying to swim in, jaws gnashing. Terror struck a deep chord through her and Ooni surprised herself with how fast she jumped into her own defense. She returned the crystals, now bonded together, to the pocket of her suit.

Ooni reached out with the arm covered in blue swirls and concentrated her energy, and she realized she was able to breathe, a strange calm washing over her even as the creature was inches away from her face. Before she had time to process, she felt a gathering of energy at her fingertips and closed her eyes, pushing and releasing the energy.

Suddenly, the monster was across the ship, lodged in the wall. Another eel approached from the side of the ship as Ooni quickly swam out. Her mind hazed over as the surge of power overtook her within seconds. The eel sprung and Ooni’s strangely familiar power benefitted her again as she saw the eel’s body implode.  

She could sense Ooni’s distress flare from their bond, the feeling spreading through her like wildfire as she tried to remain in control of her own emotions. Her friend was in trouble, and Pavilla knew she needed to help Ooni.

There were two more that were headed Pavilla’s way, her eyes shooting open when she sensed an additional pair of creatures moving at an incredibly fast speed to Ooni, who was above her.

This time, Pavilla could not ward off the fear and worry as she tried to swim upward to help her friend, unable to move much more as the two monsters wailed when they closed the distance and circled her as blue arcs of electricity shot off the sea creatures as they slowly edged closer to Pavilla.

She would have cursed if not for the aquata breather, for she was unable to help her friend in the midst of the two giant creatures that had now come for her.  

She watched them circle her, each one eyeing her as if she were nothing but a grain of sand. Pavilla knew she could handle herself, but she didn’t know what had become of Ooni. Her friend’s Force Signature had gone silent since she’d first felt Ooni’s distress, worry setting in as she tried to contact Ooni through the Force.

“Ooni, if you can hear me… you’re in danger. Please, wherever you are, you need to get out of here!” Pavilla cried out as she called to her friend, desperately hoping Ooni would heed her message.

No sooner had she sent the message than one of the giant creatures suddenly dove under her while another shot straight up as the girl watched them both turn around, each shooting straight toward her as blue sparks ran across their backs. They were even larger than the second creature she’d killed, but her resolve remained strong as she allowed her emotions to strengthen her. Their jaws opening in unison, Pavilla closed her eyes, extending both arms out as she allowed her anger and excitement from the battle to siddle through her.

Only when she opened her eyes did she viciously hurtle the Force above and below her, effectively causing each creature to stop in their tracks to convulse violently as she chuckled inwardly to herself.

What a pitiful excuse for life forms, she thought as she tightened her hold on them, throwing each into each other and down onto a jagged rock that ran both of them through.

Blood soon colors the area around Pavilla as it oozes from the lifeless masses below her, her vision tinted red as she inspects her bag to ensure its contents are safe as she begins to make her way upward. The blood will probably attract other creatures if I stick around, she thought.

It took a few moments of scanning the bay to find Ooni, a relieved sigh falling from Pavilla’s lips as she trudged through the sand to her friend that weakly waved at her.

She could discern that her companion was injured on some level, but it still calmed her nerves to see that Ooni was indeed alright.

Finally moving to stand before her friend, she crouched to see what Ooni had been trying to show her. From the way that Ooni leaned against the wall and had a pale tone to her skin, it seemed to Pavilla that she was tired. Something had taken a lot of energy from Ooni, and of that, she was certain.

When Pavilla arches a brow at her friend, Ooni moves to look down at her arm. Pavilla knew that Ooni was trying to draw her attention away from how tired she was. That much was clear before she noticed how Ooni’s arm was covered in something. 

Quirking her head, she took in the inky swirls that wrapped around Ooni’s right arm, amazed and curious at the same time as she tentatively touched the fresh tattoo that now lined her companion’s arm,” Are you okay? Where… how did you get that? It looks really cool!”

She was happy for her friend that Ooni had finally found the kyber crystal she’d been searching for, but a part of her was also envious, for Pavilla had a kyber crystal of her own but had not been allowed to craft a lightsaber, yet.

Shaking her head at the thought, Pavilla notices that Ooni’s skin begins to grow clammy and hot under her fingers, concern falling over her face at Ooni’s admission of her weariness.

Pavilla’s hand moves to her side as she watches a bead of sweat fall from Ooni’s forehead, her companion growing paler by the second. Something was wrong, and Pavilla was determined to get her friend back to the Legacy before her condition got any worse.

A cruel bout of laughter falls from Sheev Palpatine’s aged lips after that as he turns, his topaz eyes fixing on hers as everything near him begins to fade away.

Extending a hand and pointing to Pavilla, his tone darkens in amusement when he speaks to his only granddaughter and last surviving descendant.

“And you, my young heiress,” He hisses as he hobbles closer to the girl before stopping in front of her to widen his grin,” you must awaken. Awaken, young heiress, to take what is yours and fulfill your destiny.”

She doesn’t register the movement of her companion beside her until Ooni calls her name, hesitance and…was it fear that marked her features as she quirked her head at Pavilla?

She rehearses in her head the protocol for emergencies, “Pavilla? Oh thank gosh you’re awake… I was walking in the other direction, I should have stayed closer to you. We’re on the mission, remember? In the sunken ship?”

She’d been with Ooni, her friend. They’d found a fallen ship among a jetty, the Force drawing Pavilla as she’d lead Ooni to it. The two girls had then started to search the ship in their curiosity. She remembered it all, now.

Moving to stand up, the girl has to put a hand to the wall to catch herself, the room around slowly spinning as she tries to focus her vision.

Shaking her head to her companion, she tentatively replied,” Yes, I remember. I’m fine…”

She trails off when she notices the knowing look her friend gives her, instantly making Pavilla feel guilty for leaving her.

“Do you want to go home, Pav? You look really shaken up, I thought we were having a seizure or something. I can talk to Lord Ren… He might understand if I explain what happened.” Ooni still felt the Force’s presence calling her, lower, this time. Towards the water.

Her mind was clear of that as she spoke, her friend quick to see the sincerity to which Pavilla spoke as her gaze pierced Ooni’s with conviction.

Pavilla moves away from the wall, ignoring the way the room sways around her as she takes a step back. She has to keep moving, she decides.

Inaction was weakness in her mind, so she would not yield.

Considering her friend, she decided to confide in her and tell Ooni what she’d seen as she thinks back to the vision,” The Force showed me what happened here.”

She gestures to the room around her,” This ship… it was carrying relics and old artifacts of the Sith and Jedi when this system was attacked by the rebels in the Battle of Scarif. That’s why you saw so many destroyed ships around the bay,” Pavilla confessed.

Pavilla watches as Ooni’s look of concern grows, her brows drawing together as she thinks over what Pavilla has just told her.

It is lost on Pavilla why Ooni seems so perturbed, but she wants to help rid her friend of the feeling.

She gives a light smile to her friend, hoping that her companion will understand,” I’m fine,Ooni, really. Don’t worry!”

Turning away from Ooni, Pavilla’s vision catches the blaster she’d touched. She only considers it for a second, her hand moving to take the blaster from it’s abandoned place on the shelf as she clips it to her belt.

“Alright, if you’re sure… Just, let me know if something else happens and you want to go. Lord Ren won’t have it if one of us dies or something,” Ooni remarked uneasily. She tightened her grip on the flashlight she brought and slung her pack over her shoulder.

If she was being honest with herself, though, this place was definitely one that made her feel uneasy, but she wasn’t about to admit that to Ooni and worry her friend more than she already had.

 A large X-Wing was impaled right through the wall of the Destroyer a good drop below them, it was on the other side of the ship and it was very hard to see in the dark, but the reflective stickers were blinding as the flashlight’s glare raked across them.

The vision she’d seen replays in her mind, the girl astounded at how much chaos and death had brought about the fate of the system and ship she was now on. Her grandfather, Sheev Palpatine, had been involved. She knew that to be true as she looked around the metal cavern at smaller X-Wings and dark, gaping holes in the walls.

When Ooni speaks, Pavilla can discern the curiosity paired with need that Ooni has to go  to the rebel ship. The Force was leading her companion there, she knew. If anyone understood the pull of the Force, it was Pavilla.

She ended up sliding down the rest of the way, which was luckily only a few feet. She stood up with disgust and tried to wipe the algae off of her pants to no avail, “Pavilla, you okay back there? We probably should have brought jet packs or something, it’s gonna be a karking pain to get out of here.”

Pavilla watched as her friend descended, fear gripping her as the floor gave out under Ooni and she disappeared into the chasm of water below with a splash.

It was only when Pavilla heard her friend cursing below that she released a breath she hadn’t realized she’d been holding, shaking her head at her friend’s clumsiness. It was just like Ooni to fall hundreds of feet and worry about a kriffing jet pack.

With a relieved sigh, she called out,” We’ll be fine, although I don’t see any fish or anything that would be a problem for us, water girl!”

With that, Pavilla jumps from the metal ledge and finds herself in the water after falling a few meters.

When she surfaces, she holds up one hand to reflexively catch the aquata breather her friend had thrown for her. Scanning her surroundings, she finds Ooni near an X-Wing that was lodged into wall just a little ways ahead of her. 

“Good luck, Ooni. I hope you find whatever it is that the Force is leading you to,” Pavilla calls out, her attention soon seized by the familiar tug of the Force. It seemed to want her to go down towards the ocean floor. 

She had a feeling she’d need it, soon.

Once the blade hisses to life, the girl dives, the blade doing little to light her way as she makes toward the bottom of the metal encased grotto.

From what she can see, there are various artifacts that lay abandoned on what used to be shelves that line each wall to either side of the girl, reminding her of the armory she’d just come from.

She stops at a row of lightsaber hilts, their kyber crystals long gone. She cannot feel any energy from the any of the hilts as she runs a hand over them.The Force was trying to pull her somewhere, to something, but it wasn’t this.

Continuing her descent, she notices broken pieces of various talismans and amulets, their energies also nonexistent when the girl waves her hand over them.

The girl only stops at the very bottom, two small, metal masses flashing against the blue light that shines over them. Upon closer inspection, Pavilla realizes they are charms, each so small that they could be fitted to the side of a lightsaber as the girl slowly pulls them from the sand they had been covered by.

One is as red as blood while the other is as blue as the seas of Scarif, metal twining around each stone in circular patterns. They are set against silver metal that wraps around the front of them in thin arrangements. They are beautiful, she thinks as she puts each in the small satchel that is wrapped around her shoulder.

After she ensures that the charms are secure in her bag, she looks around the dark space, allowing the Force to draw her forward toward a large opening in the wall that looked to be a lair of some sort. Suddenly, as if something within the opening sensed her presence, a loud screech sounded, her ears ringing as she grimaced at the noise.

Where there should have been fear, there was none. She has faced worse.

Pavilla hears the screech again, her head pounding at the onset of it as she rounds a corner. If not for the pull of the Force, she would have missed the small crack in the wall that is big enough only for her to fit through. Her ears still ringing from the sound, she shakes her head in effort to rid herself of the feeling.

Once through, she is met with a metal box, chains encasing and wrapping around it with no noticeable opening to the contraption. The sun’s rays shine upon the box that sits on a pedestal in the room, making it look like some kind of beacon as the girl swam forward to run her hand over the the chrome box.

A few moments passed where she was thrown through void of the vision, but then Ooni saw two crystals on a desk and an old Jedi repairing a long hilt. Her family’s crest hung on a tapestry against the wall by the man, who turned and looked at her.

Pavilla moved backwards, extending a hand out towards the box as she summoned the Force to her with practiced ease. Her days aboard the Legacy had been a help in her ability to wield it, after all. The familiar feeling of it wrapping around her fingers was satisfying as she willed the old, rusted chains to fall from the box, the simple things moving aside and falling to the ocean floor with a defeated thump.

With the chains no longer obstructing her view, Pavilla curled her fingers in, three clicks sounding throughout the small chamber as the lid of the chest slowly rose to reveal a some kind of amulet that had odd markings and symbols carved across it’s smooth, gold surface. In the middle there was a red stone that reminded her of fire as it glistened in the sun. She’d read about amulets from one of Kylo Ren’s holobooks, but she wasn’t sure what this one was or what it did as she tentatively took it from its resting place in the middle of the chest.

Almost as soon as she’d pulled herself out, a shrill screech echoed throughout the cavern once more, the girl’s heart beginning to pound against her chest at the closeness to the origin of the noise as she kicked her legs faster to get out of the cave she’d entered.

“Kriff,” she thought. She needed to get out of here, else she had a nagging feeling that something very bad would happen to her.

Something stirred behind her, the sound of electricity and live wires crackling very loud as the girl’s heart raced, her legs beginning to burn from her efforts of trying to evade whatever was trailing behind her.

Fear threatened to wrap around her as it crawled along her spine when she sensed a large creature was following her, but she refused to allow that. She had gone against worse than this and told herself she would not go down to some measly sea creature. She was a proud Praetorian Guard and apprentice to Kylo Ren, and she would be damned if she didn’t fight and make good on her training.

The noise came again, the darkness that surrounded her slowly dissipating as she made her exit into the open space of the metal grotto.

“Who…Who are all of you?” Ooni asked, clearly confused.

Though she should have been scared that she was about to face such a giant life form, she was not. Instead, she found her adrenaline coursing through her in anticipation of the fight she knew was coming, a knowing smirk peeking at the edges of her lips as she grips at the lightsaber and moves it in front of her, taunting the creature as light blue bolts of electricity ran down its body when it came closer and closer to the girl who remained still near the floor of grotto.

Waiting until the creature was only a few feet away, the girl pushed off the ground to turn upside down once she had moved out of the way of its open jaws, swiftly running her lightsaber through its right eye as it screamed in pain, its body wriggling to the side as she turned the weapon off, only igniting it once more as she pierced the cranium of the giant creature, effectively killing it as it went limp and fell to the ocean floor in defeat.

Pavilla was, if she was being honest with herself, disappointed in how easy it had been to kill the monster, her moment of victory suddenly interrupted when she caught movement out of the corner of her eye.

Turning around to look at the cave she’d just come from, she spotted another electric eel, this one two times the size of the one she’d just fought.

A part of her was excited at the prospect of being able to battle such a large creature, her muscles instinctively loosening as she prepared herself again to fight.

“Let’s go, volt brain,” she thought to herself.

“The fuck?” she thought to herself, before getting an idea. She untied the crystal in her hair and touched it to the crystal from the pilot. The new crystal began to glow and a golden hue crept across its surface. Ooni felt a buzz go through her hands and her body jerked as a burst of energy surged through her. She noticed dark, swishing masses outside of the X-Wing. “Kriff,” Ooni thought.

The crystals began to almost burn her fingertips as they bonded, warmth running up through her veins as the energy flowed through her. She noticed blue swirls forming on her fingers, creeping up her hand and her right arm, etching trails into her skin. Then something hit the ship.

Ooni was smacked into wall of the ship, her aquata-breather breaking and dislodging, falling soundlessly to the floor. She panicked and instantly began to try to swim out of the X-Wing, getting halfway to the exit before she was greeted by the ugly face of an eel jarring the ship and trying to swim in, jaws gnashing. Terror struck a deep chord through her and Ooni surprised herself with how fast she jumped into her own defense. She returned the crystals, now bonded together, to the pocket of her suit.

Ooni reached out with the arm covered in blue swirls and concentrated her energy, and she realized she was able to breathe, a strange calm washing over her even as the creature was inches away from her face. Before she had time to process, she felt a gathering of energy at her fingertips and closed her eyes, pushing and releasing the energy.

Suddenly, the monster was across the ship, lodged in the wall. Another eel approached from the side of the ship as Ooni quickly swam out. Her mind hazed over as the surge of power overtook her within seconds. The eel sprung and Ooni’s strangely familiar power benefitted her again as she saw the eel’s body implode.  

She could sense Ooni’s distress flare from their bond, the feeling spreading through her like wildfire as she tried to remain in control of her own emotions. Her friend was in trouble, and Pavilla knew she needed to help Ooni.

There were two more that were headed Pavilla’s way, her eyes shooting open when she sensed an additional pair of creatures moving at an incredibly fast speed to Ooni, who was above her.

This time, Pavilla could not ward off the fear and worry as she tried to swim upward to help her friend, unable to move much more as the two monsters wailed when they closed the distance and circled her as blue arcs of electricity shot off the sea creatures as they slowly edged closer to Pavilla.

She would have cursed if not for the aquata breather, for she was unable to help her friend in the midst of the two giant creatures that had now come for her.  

She watched them circle her, each one eyeing her as if she were nothing but a grain of sand. Pavilla knew she could handle herself, but she didn’t know what had become of Ooni. Her friend’s Force Signature had gone silent since she’d first felt Ooni’s distress, worry setting in as she tried to contact Ooni through the Force.

“Ooni, if you can hear me… you’re in danger. Please, wherever you are, you need to get out of here!” Pavilla cried out as she called to her friend, desperately hoping Ooni would heed her message.

No sooner had she sent the message than one of the giant creatures suddenly dove under her while another shot straight up as the girl watched them both turn around, each shooting straight toward her as blue sparks ran across their backs. They were even larger than the second creature she’d killed, but her resolve remained strong as she allowed her emotions to strengthen her. Their jaws opening in unison, Pavilla closed her eyes, extending both arms out as she allowed her anger and excitement from the battle to siddle through her.

Only when she opened her eyes did she viciously hurtle the Force above and below her, effectively causing each creature to stop in their tracks to convulse violently as she chuckled inwardly to herself.

What a pitiful excuse for life forms, she thought as she tightened her hold on them, throwing each into each other and down onto a jagged rock that ran both of them through.

Blood soon colors the area around Pavilla as it oozes from the lifeless masses below her, her vision tinted red as she inspects her bag to ensure its contents are safe as she begins to make her way upward. The blood will probably attract other creatures if I stick around, she thought.

It took a few moments of scanning the bay to find Ooni, a relieved sigh falling from Pavilla’s lips as she trudged through the sand to her friend that weakly waved at her.

She could discern that her companion was injured on some level, but it still calmed her nerves to see that Ooni was indeed alright.

Finally moving to stand before her friend, she crouched to see what Ooni had been trying to show her. From the way that Ooni leaned against the wall and had a pale tone to her skin, it seemed to Pavilla that she was tired. Something had taken a lot of energy from Ooni, and of that, she was certain.

When Pavilla arches a brow at her friend, Ooni moves to look down at her arm. Pavilla knew that Ooni was trying to draw her attention away from how tired she was. That much was clear before she noticed how Ooni’s arm was covered in something. 

Quirking her head, she took in the inky swirls that wrapped around Ooni’s right arm, amazed and curious at the same time as she tentatively touched the fresh tattoo that now lined her companion’s arm,” Are you okay? Where… how did you get that? It looks really cool!”

The Force is telling me that there are buried objects off the Scarif shoreline. Some of them possess strange power. Others could be quite valuable.

I invite everyone to take a swim and look for these hidden gems.

Sighing, Pavilla thinks over the many reasons why she’d joined the First Order. There were so many reasons, but that was one was the strongest next to her desire to learn the ways of the Force and find her purpose in life.

Drawing her brows together, she tries to think of what she should say to her sister in arms. What if Ooni thought her to be strange or weak?

The saber that she now holds is not her own, the girl closing her eyes as she remembers the familiar visions and dreams of a blade as black as night that is flecked and shrouded by white.

Shaking her head, she ignites the blade, the dark space soon covered in blue light that reminds her of the water that now churns violently against the fallen ship.

“Pav, I don’t like this. Why is the Force calling us here? This place seems dangerous…” Ooni whispered. Why she was whispering, she didn’t know. No one else was there, but it seemed like the sort of situation where one would want to whisper. Perhaps that was the effect the dark had on her. She walked deeper into the ship, finding a sturdy panel that lead up. She walked upwards and began to notice several smaller ships around them. By the looks of things, many resistance ships were jammed through the hull of the destroyer. Ooni was able to put two and two together once she saw an old helmet floating in the cockpit of a crushed X-Wing that blocked the way.

Pavilla finds herself moving through an alcove that she would’ve missed if not for the familiar pull of the Force, her feet almost moving on their own as she treads up a ramp that leads to what looks to be a small room up ahead. The metal beneath her hisses as she steps upon it, a small pang of fear striking her chest when she dips her head to look down.

It is not lost on her that below the ramp is a pit of darkness that she knows she will not survive if she were to lose her footing and fall, but she doesn’t care. She keeps moving despite her better senses that are screaming at her to get away, refusing to give in it them. The Force was calling her here. She could feel it.

Suddenly Pavilla hears a voice. Or rather, a combination of multiple voices into one that call her name. It echoes around her, the girl so taken aback at the onset of it that she jerks her head in the direction from which the voices had whispered her name.

It had come from the small room that is only a few steps ahead, and where she should have felt fear, it had gone away. It had been just as fleeting as the wind that now howled outside of the ship that screamed at its trespassers.

Taking a deep breath, the girl continued on until she took in what must have been an armory. Shelves that spanned the length of the room lined each wall, blasters of every sort and make abandoned as they sat unused amongst each and every rack. Her hand, almost as if being compelled by another force to move, rises toward a blaster called the Westar-35.

Pavilla doesn’t know how she knows the name of the weapon, but she absent-mindedly runs her hand over the space above it, a strange sensation passing over the girl as she does.

Ooni had a sinking feeling in her stomach. Almost like a cat smelling the fear scent of it’s prey, Ooni could sense her friend’s distress. There was definitely something wrong, so Ooni decided to backtrack a bit, going towards the direction Pavilla had.

She got slapped in the face by a stray wire that came loose, but she brushed it off and kept going, “Pavilla?” Ooni called, hearing her voice echo in the damp cavern that the destroyer’s half-sunken shell had formed.

Dark shapes dot her vision, several rising from sands as white as the moon to resemble people, each with blasters in hand as her vision clears to watch the Battle of Scarif unfold.

It only takes Pavilla a moment to understand what had happened. She’d touched an old weapon in the armory that the Force had led her to, and now the Force was showing her segments of the past. It was showing her what had happened here.

There is a man who looks aged by years of battle, his greyed hair matching the long white cape that adorns him as he angrily orders TIE fighters to the beach where rogue rebels have landed and launched an assault as explosions dot the area behind him.

She sees the rebels fall one by one, each dying a brutal and horrifying death, the cries of agony and pain tearing through it all from voices indiscernible despite what she watches before her.

She stops at a row of lightsaber hilts, their kyber crystals long gone. She cannot feel any energy from the any of the hilts as she runs a hand over them.The Force was trying to pull her somewhere, to something, but it wasn’t this.

Continuing her descent, she notices broken pieces of various talismans and amulets, their energies also nonexistent when the girl waves her hand over them.

The girl only stops at the very bottom, two small, metal masses flashing against the blue light that shines over them. Upon closer inspection, Pavilla realizes they are charms, each so small that they could be fitted to the side of a lightsaber as the girl slowly pulls them from the sand they had been covered by.

One is as red as blood while the other is as blue as the seas of Scarif, metal twining around each stone in circular patterns. They are set against silver metal that wraps around the front of them in thin arrangements. They are beautiful, she thinks as she puts each in the small satchel that is wrapped around her shoulder.

After she ensures that the charms are secure in her bag, she looks around the dark space, allowing the Force to draw her forward toward a large opening in the wall that looked to be a lair of some sort. Suddenly, as if something within the opening sensed her presence, a loud screech sounded, her ears ringing as she grimaced at the noise.

Where there should have been fear, there was none. She has faced worse.

Pavilla hears the screech again, her head pounding at the onset of it as she rounds a corner. If not for the pull of the Force, she would have missed the small crack in the wall that is big enough only for her to fit through. Her ears still ringing from the sound, she shakes her head in effort to rid herself of the feeling.

Once through, she is met with a metal box, chains encasing and wrapping around it with no noticeable opening to the contraption. The sun’s rays shine upon the box that sits on a pedestal in the room, making it look like some kind of beacon as the girl swam forward to run her hand over the the chrome box.

A few moments passed where she was thrown through void of the vision, but then Ooni saw two crystals on a desk and an old Jedi repairing a long hilt. Her family’s crest hung on a tapestry against the wall by the man, who turned and looked at her.

Pavilla moved backwards, extending a hand out towards the box as she summoned the Force to her with practiced ease. Her days aboard the Legacy had been a help in her ability to wield it, after all. The familiar feeling of it wrapping around her fingers was satisfying as she willed the old, rusted chains to fall from the box, the simple things moving aside and falling to the ocean floor with a defeated thump.

Almost as soon as she’d pulled herself out, a shrill screech echoed throughout the cavern once more, the girl’s heart beginning to pound against her chest at the closeness to the origin of the noise as she kicked her legs faster to get out of the cave she’d entered.

“Kriff,” she thought. She needed to get out of here, else she had a nagging feeling that something very bad would happen to her.

Something stirred behind her, the sound of electricity and live wires crackling very loud as the girl’s heart raced, her legs beginning to burn from her efforts of trying to evade whatever was trailing behind her.

“Who…Who are all of you?” Ooni asked, clearly confused.

Though she should have been scared that she was about to face such a giant life form, she was not. Instead, she found her adrenaline coursing through her in anticipation of the fight she knew was coming, a knowing smirk peeking at the edges of her lips as she grips at the lightsaber and moves it in front of her, taunting the creature as light blue bolts of electricity ran down its body when it came closer and closer to the girl who remained still near the floor of grotto.

Waiting until the creature was only a few feet away, the girl pushed off the ground to turn upside down once she had moved out of the way of its open jaws, swiftly running her lightsaber through its right eye as it screamed in pain, its body wriggling to the side as she turned the weapon off, only igniting it once more as she pierced the cranium of the giant creature, effectively killing it as it went limp and fell to the ocean floor in defeat.

Pavilla was, if she was being honest with herself, disappointed in how easy it had been to kill the monster, her moment of victory suddenly interrupted when she caught movement out of the corner of her eye.

Turning around to look at the cave she’d just come from, she spotted another electric eel, this one two times the size of the one she’d just fought.

A part of her was excited at the prospect of being able to battle such a large creature, her muscles instinctively loosening as she prepared herself again to fight.

“Let’s go, volt brain,” she thought to herself.

“The fuck?” she thought to herself, before getting an idea. She untied the crystal in her hair and touched it to the crystal from the pilot. The new crystal began to glow and a golden hue crept across its surface. Ooni felt a buzz go through her hands and her body jerked as a burst of energy surged through her. She noticed dark, swishing masses outside of the X-Wing. “Kriff,” Ooni thought.

The crystals began to almost burn her fingertips as they bonded, warmth running up through her veins as the energy flowed through her. She noticed blue swirls forming on her fingers, creeping up her hand and her right arm, etching trails into her skin. Then something hit the ship.

Ooni was smacked into wall of the ship, her aquata-breather breaking and dislodging, falling soundlessly to the floor. She panicked and instantly began to try to swim out of the X-Wing, getting halfway to the exit before she was greeted by the ugly face of an eel jarring the ship and trying to swim in, jaws gnashing. Terror struck a deep chord through her and Ooni surprised herself with how fast she jumped into her own defense. She returned the crystals, now bonded together, to the pocket of her suit.

Ooni reached out with the arm covered in blue swirls and concentrated her energy, and she realized she was able to breathe, a strange calm washing over her even as the creature was inches away from her face. Before she had time to process, she felt a gathering of energy at her fingertips and closed her eyes, pushing and releasing the energy.

Suddenly, the monster was across the ship, lodged in the wall. Another eel approached from the side of the ship as Ooni quickly swam out. Her mind hazed over as the surge of power overtook her within seconds. The eel sprung and Ooni’s strangely familiar power benefitted her again as she saw the eel’s body implode.  

She could sense Ooni’s distress flare from their bond, the feeling spreading through her like wildfire as she tried to remain in control of her own emotions. Her friend was in trouble, and Pavilla knew she needed to help Ooni.

There were two more that were headed Pavilla’s way, her eyes shooting open when she sensed an additional pair of creatures moving at an incredibly fast speed to Ooni, who was above her.

This time, Pavilla could not ward off the fear and worry as she tried to swim upward to help her friend, unable to move much more as the two monsters wailed when they closed the distance and circled her as blue arcs of electricity shot off the sea creatures as they slowly edged closer to Pavilla.

She would have cursed if not for the aquata breather, for she was unable to help her friend in the midst of the two giant creatures that had now come for her.  

She watched them circle her, each one eyeing her as if she were nothing but a grain of sand. Pavilla knew she could handle herself, but she didn’t know what had become of Ooni. Her friend’s Force Signature had gone silent since she’d first felt Ooni’s distress, worry setting in as she tried to contact Ooni through the Force.

“Ooni, if you can hear me… you’re in danger. Please, wherever you are, you need to get out of here!” Pavilla cried out as she called to her friend, desperately hoping Ooni would heed her message.

No sooner had she sent the message than one of the giant creatures suddenly dove under her while another shot straight up as the girl watched them both turn around, each shooting straight toward her as blue sparks ran across their backs. They were even larger than the second creature she’d killed, but her resolve remained strong as she allowed her emotions to strengthen her. Their jaws opening in unison, Pavilla closed her eyes, extending both arms out as she allowed her anger and excitement from the battle to siddle through her.

Only when she opened her eyes did she viciously hurtle the Force above and below her, effectively causing each creature to stop in their tracks to convulse violently as she chuckled inwardly to herself.

What a pitiful excuse for life forms, she thought as she tightened her hold on them, throwing each into each other and down onto a jagged rock that ran both of them through.

Blood soon colors the area around Pavilla as it oozes from the lifeless masses below her, her vision tinted red as she inspects her bag to ensure its contents are safe as she begins to make her way upward. The blood will probably attract other creatures if I stick around, she thought.

The Force is telling me that there are buried objects off the Scarif shoreline. Some of them possess strange power. Others could be quite valuable.

I invite everyone to take a swim and look for these hidden gems.

Sighing, Pavilla thinks over the many reasons why she’d joined the First Order. There were so many reasons, but that was one was the strongest next to her desire to learn the ways of the Force and find her purpose in life.

Drawing her brows together, she tries to think of what she should say to her sister in arms. What if Ooni thought her to be strange or weak?

The saber that she now holds is not her own, the girl closing her eyes as she remembers the familiar visions and dreams of a blade as black as night that is flecked and shrouded by white.

Shaking her head, she ignites the blade, the dark space soon covered in blue light that reminds her of the water that now churns violently against the fallen ship.

“Pav, I don’t like this. Why is the Force calling us here? This place seems dangerous…” Ooni whispered. Why she was whispering, she didn’t know. No one else was there, but it seemed like the sort of situation where one would want to whisper. Perhaps that was the effect the dark had on her. She walked deeper into the ship, finding a sturdy panel that lead up. She walked upwards and began to notice several smaller ships around them. By the looks of things, many resistance ships were jammed through the hull of the destroyer. Ooni was able to put two and two together once she saw an old helmet floating in the cockpit of a crushed X-Wing that blocked the way.

Pavilla finds herself moving through an alcove that she would’ve missed if not for the familiar pull of the Force, her feet almost moving on their own as she treads up a ramp that leads to what looks to be a small room up ahead. The metal beneath her hisses as she steps upon it, a small pang of fear striking her chest when she dips her head to look down.

It is not lost on her that below the ramp is a pit of darkness that she knows she will not survive if she were to lose her footing and fall, but she doesn’t care. She keeps moving despite her better senses that are screaming at her to get away, refusing to give in it them. The Force was calling her here. She could feel it.

Pavilla doesn’t know how she knows the name of the weapon, but she absent-mindedly runs her hand over the space above it, a strange sensation passing over the girl as she does.

It only takes Pavilla a moment to understand what had happened. She’d touched an old weapon in the armory that the Force had led her to, and now the Force was showing her segments of the past. It was showing her what had happened here.

There is a man who looks aged by years of battle, his greyed hair matching the long white cape that adorns him as he angrily orders TIE fighters to the beach where rogue rebels have landed and launched an assault as explosions dot the area behind him.

She sees the rebels fall one by one, each dying a brutal and horrifying death, the cries of agony and pain tearing through it all from voices indiscernible despite what she watches before her.

One has his arms crossed as if he is thinking of something, deep and heavy breaths sounding from some kind of mechanized breathing apparatus that Pavilla knows to be a trademark of the legendary Sith, Darth Vader.

Beside him stands the man that had visited her on her ship following the days she had defected from the Resistance, his old and raspy voice echoing throughout the room,” See to it that you get those plans, apprentice… Make certain that your work and sacrifice will not have been in vain…”

A cruel bout of laughter falls from Sheev Palpatine’s aged lips after that as he turns, his topaz eyes fixing on hers as everything near him begins to fade away.

Extending a hand and pointing to Pavilla, his tone darkens in amusement when he speaks to his only granddaughter and last surviving descendant.

“And you, my young heiress,” He hisses as he hobbles closer to the girl before stopping in front of her to widen his grin,” you must awaken. Awaken, young heiress, to take what is yours and fulfill your destiny.”

She doesn’t register the movement of her companion beside her until Ooni calls her name, hesitance and…was it fear that marked her features as she quirked her head at Pavilla?

She rehearses in her head the protocol for emergencies, “Pavilla? Oh thank gosh you’re awake… I was walking in the other direction, I should have stayed closer to you. We’re on the mission, remember? In the sunken ship?”

Shaking her head to her companion, she tentatively replied,” Yes, I remember. I’m fine…”

“Do you want to go home, Pav? You look really shaken up, I thought we were having a seizure or something. I can talk to Lord Ren… He might understand if I explain what happened.” Ooni still felt the Force’s presence calling her, lower, this time. Towards the water.

Her mind was clear of that as she spoke, her friend quick to see the sincerity to which Pavilla spoke as her gaze pierced Ooni’s with conviction.

Pavilla moves away from the wall, ignoring the way the room sways around her as she takes a step back. She has to keep moving, she decides.

Inaction was weakness in her mind, so she would not yield.

Considering her friend, she decided to confide in her and tell Ooni what she’d seen as she thinks back to the vision,” The Force showed me what happened here.”

She gestures to the room around her,” This ship… it was carrying relics and old artifacts of the Sith and Jedi when this system was attacked by the rebels in the Battle of Scarif. That’s why you saw so many destroyed ships around the bay,” Pavilla confessed.

Pavilla watches as Ooni’s look of concern grows, her brows drawing together as she thinks over what Pavilla has just told her.

It is lost on Pavilla why Ooni seems so perturbed, but she wants to help rid her friend of the feeling.

She gives a light smile to her friend, hoping that her companion will understand,” I’m fine,Ooni, really. Don’t worry!”

“Alright, if you’re sure… Just, let me know if something else happens and you want to go. Lord Ren won’t have it if one of us dies or something,” Ooni remarked uneasily. She tightened her grip on the flashlight she brought and slung her pack over her shoulder.

 A large X-Wing was impaled right through the wall of the Destroyer a good drop below them, it was on the other side of the ship and it was very hard to see in the dark, but the reflective stickers were blinding as the flashlight’s glare raked across them.

The vision she’d seen replays in her mind, the girl astounded at how much chaos and death had brought about the fate of the system and ship she was now on. Her grandfather, Sheev Palpatine, had been involved. She knew that to be true as she looked around the metal cavern at smaller X-Wings and dark, gaping holes in the walls.

When Ooni speaks, Pavilla can discern the curiosity paired with need that Ooni has to go  to the rebel ship. The Force was leading her companion there, she knew. If anyone understood the pull of the Force, it was Pavilla.

She ended up sliding down the rest of the way, which was luckily only a few feet. She stood up with disgust and tried to wipe the algae off of her pants to no avail, “Pavilla, you okay back there? We probably should have brought jet packs or something, it’s gonna be a karking pain to get out of here.”

With a relieved sigh, she called out,” We’ll be fine, although I don’t see any fish or anything that would be a problem for us, water girl!”

She could sense Ooni’s distress flare from their bond, the feeling spreading through her like wildfire as she tried to remain in control of her own emotions. Her friend was in trouble, and Pavilla knew she needed to help Ooni.

There were two more that were headed Pavilla’s way, her eyes shooting open when she sensed an additional pair of creatures moving at an incredibly fast speed to Ooni, who was above her.

This time, Pavilla could not ward off the fear and worry as she tried to swim upward to help her friend, unable to move much more as the two monsters wailed when they closed the distance and circled her as blue arcs of electricity shot off the sea creatures as they slowly edged closer to Pavilla.

She would have cursed if not for the aquata breather, for she was unable to help her friend in the midst of the two giant creatures that had now come for her.  

She watched them circle her, each one eyeing her as if she were nothing but a grain of sand. Pavilla knew she could handle herself, but she didn’t know what had become of Ooni. Her friend’s Force Signature had gone silent since she’d first felt Ooni’s distress, worry setting in as she tried to contact Ooni through the Force.

“Ooni, if you can hear me… you’re in danger. Please, wherever you are, you need to get out of here!” Pavilla cried out as she called to her friend, desperately hoping Ooni would heed her message.

No sooner had she sent the message than one of the giant creatures suddenly dove under her while another shot straight up as the girl watched them both turn around, each shooting straight toward her as blue sparks ran across their backs. They were even larger than the second creature she’d killed, but her resolve remained strong as she allowed her emotions to strengthen her. Their jaws opening in unison, Pavilla closed her eyes, extending both arms out as she allowed her anger and excitement from the battle to siddle through her.

Only when she opened her eyes did she viciously hurtle the Force above and below her, effectively causing each creature to stop in their tracks to convulse violently as she chuckled inwardly to herself.

What a pitiful excuse for life forms, she thought as she tightened her hold on them, throwing each into each other and down onto a jagged rock that ran both of them through.

Blood soon colors the area around Pavilla as it oozes from the lifeless masses below her, her vision tinted red as she inspects her bag to ensure its contents are safe as she begins to make her way upward. The blood will probably attract other creatures if I stick around, she thought.

The Force is telling me that there are buried objects off the Scarif shoreline. Some of them possess strange power. Others could be quite valuable.

I invite everyone to take a swim and look for these hidden gems.

The saber that she now holds is not her own, the girl closing her eyes as she remembers the familiar visions and dreams of a blade as black as night that is flecked and shrouded by white.

Shaking her head, she ignites the blade, the dark space soon covered in blue light that reminds her of the water that now churns violently against the fallen ship.

“Pav, I don’t like this. Why is the Force calling us here? This place seems dangerous…” Ooni whispered. Why she was whispering, she didn’t know. No one else was there, but it seemed like the sort of situation where one would want to whisper. Perhaps that was the effect the dark had on her. She walked deeper into the ship, finding a sturdy panel that lead up. She walked upwards and began to notice several smaller ships around them. By the looks of things, many resistance ships were jammed through the hull of the destroyer. Ooni was able to put two and two together once she saw an old helmet floating in the cockpit of a crushed X-Wing that blocked the way.

Pavilla finds herself moving through an alcove that she would’ve missed if not for the familiar pull of the Force, her feet almost moving on their own as she treads up a ramp that leads to what looks to be a small room up ahead. The metal beneath her hisses as she steps upon it, a small pang of fear striking her chest when she dips her head to look down.

It is not lost on her that below the ramp is a pit of darkness that she knows she will not survive if she were to lose her footing and fall, but she doesn’t care. Pavilla doesn’t know how she knows the name of the weapon, but she absent-mindedly runs her hand over the space above it, a strange sensation passing over the girl as she does.

It only takes Pavilla a moment to understand what had happened. She’d touched an old weapon in the armory that the Force had led her to, and now the Force was showing her segments of the past. It was showing her what had happened here.

There is a man who looks aged by years of battle, his greyed hair matching the long white cape that adorns him as he angrily orders TIE fighters to the beach where rogue rebels have landed and launched an assault as explosions dot the area behind him.

She sees the rebels fall one by one, each dying a brutal and horrifying death, the cries of agony and pain tearing through it all from voices indiscernible despite what she watches before her.

Blackened masses lay abandoned on sand stained with blood, the acrid stench of death filling her nose as the image changes and she sees what must have been the Battle of Scarif.

One has his arms crossed as if he is thinking of something, deep and heavy breaths sounding from some kind of mechanized breathing apparatus that Pavilla knows to be a trademark of the legendary Sith, Darth Vader.

Beside him stands the man that had visited her on her ship following the days she had defected from the Resistance, his old and raspy voice echoing throughout the room,” See to it that you get those plans, apprentice… Make certain that your work and sacrifice will not have been in vain…”

A cruel bout of laughter falls from Sheev Palpatine’s aged lips after that as he turns, his topaz eyes fixing on hers as everything near him begins to fade away.

Extending a hand and pointing to Pavilla, his tone darkens in amusement when he speaks to his only granddaughter and last surviving descendant.

“And you, my young heiress,” He hisses as he hobbles closer to the girl before stopping in front of her to widen his grin,” you must awaken. Awaken, young heiress, to take what is yours and fulfill your destiny.”

She doesn’t register the movement of her companion beside her until Ooni calls her name, hesitance and…was it fear that marked her features as she quirked her head at Pavilla?

She rehearses in her head the protocol for emergencies, “Pavilla? Oh thank gosh you’re awake… I was walking in the other direction, I should have stayed closer to you. We’re on the mission, remember? In the sunken ship?”

She’d been with Ooni, her friend. They’d found a fallen ship among a jetty, the Force drawing Pavilla as she’d lead Ooni to it. The two girls had then started to search the ship in their curiosity. She remembered it all, now.

Moving to stand up, the girl has to put a hand to the wall to catch herself, the room around slowly spinning as she tries to focus her vision.

Shaking her head to her companion, she tentatively replied,” Yes, I remember. I’m fine…”

She trails off when she notices the knowing look her friend gives her, instantly making Pavilla feel guilty for leaving her.

“Do you want to go home, Pav? You look really shaken up, I thought we were having a seizure or something. I can talk to Lord Ren… He might understand if I explain what happened.” Ooni still felt the Force’s presence calling her, lower, this time. Towards the water.

Her mind was clear of that as she spoke, her friend quick to see the sincerity to which Pavilla spoke as her gaze pierced Ooni’s with conviction.

Pavilla moves away from the wall, ignoring the way the room sways around her as she takes a step back. She has to keep moving, she decides.

Inaction was weakness in her mind, so she would not yield.

Considering her friend, she decided to confide in her and tell Ooni what she’d seen as she thinks back to the vision,” The Force showed me what happened here.”

She gestures to the room around her,” This ship… it was carrying relics and old artifacts of the Sith and Jedi when this system was attacked by the rebels in the Battle of Scarif. That’s why you saw so many destroyed ships around the bay,” Pavilla confessed.

Pavilla watches as Ooni’s look of concern grows, her brows drawing together as she thinks over what Pavilla has just told her.

It is lost on Pavilla why Ooni seems so perturbed, but she wants to help rid her friend of the feeling.

She gives a light smile to her friend, hoping that her companion will understand,” I’m fine,Ooni, really. Don’t worry!”

Turning away from Ooni, Pavilla’s vision catches the blaster she’d touched. She only considers it for a second, her hand moving to take the blaster from it’s abandoned place on the shelf as she clips it to her belt.

“Alright, if you’re sure… Just, let me know if something else happens and you want to go. Lord Ren won’t have it if one of us dies or something,” Ooni remarked uneasily. She tightened her grip on the flashlight she brought and slung her pack over her shoulder.

If she was being honest with herself, though, this place was definitely one that made her feel uneasy, but she wasn’t about to admit that to Ooni and worry her friend more than she already had.

Ooni was the first one out of the room and noticed there were some collapsed panels that lead to the middle of the ship, from how high they were, she could see where the submerged part of the ship began and where the dry part ended.

 A large X-Wing was impaled right through the wall of the Destroyer a good drop below them, it was on the other side of the ship and it was very hard to see in the dark, but the reflective stickers were blinding as the flashlight’s glare raked across them.

The vision she’d seen replays in her mind, the girl astounded at how much chaos and death had brought about the fate of the system and ship she was now on. Her grandfather, Sheev Palpatine, had been involved. She knew that to be true as she looked around the metal cavern at smaller X-Wings and dark, gaping holes in the walls.

When Ooni speaks, Pavilla can discern the curiosity paired with need that Ooni has to go  to the rebel ship. The Force was leading her companion there, she knew. If anyone understood the pull of the Force, it was Pavilla.

She ended up sliding down the rest of the way, which was luckily only a few feet. She stood up with disgust and tried to wipe the algae off of her pants to no avail, “Pavilla, you okay back there? We probably should have brought jet packs or something, it’s gonna be a karking pain to get out of here.”

Pavilla watched as her friend descended, fear gripping her as the floor gave out under Ooni and she disappeared into the chasm of water below with a splash.

It was only when Pavilla heard her friend cursing below that she released a breath she hadn’t realized she’d been holding, shaking her head at her friend’s clumsiness. It was just like Ooni to fall hundreds of feet and worry about a kriffing jet pack.

With a relieved sigh, she called out,” We’ll be fine, although I don’t see any fish or anything that would be a problem for us, water girl!”

With that, Pavilla jumps from the metal ledge and finds herself in the water after falling a few meters.

When she surfaces, she holds up one hand to reflexively catch the aquata breather her friend had thrown for her. Scanning her surroundings, she finds Ooni near an X-Wing that was lodged into wall just a little ways ahead of her. 

“Good luck, Ooni. I hope you find whatever it is that the Force is leading you to,” Pavilla calls out, her attention soon seized by the familiar tug of the Force. It seemed to want her to go down towards the ocean floor. 

She had a feeling she’d need it, soon.

Once the blade hisses to life, the girl dives, the blade doing little to light her way as she makes toward the bottom of the metal encased grotto.

From what she can see, there are various artifacts that lay abandoned on what used to be shelves that line each wall to either side of the girl, reminding her of the armory she’d just come from.

She stops at a row of lightsaber hilts, their kyber crystals long gone. She cannot feel any energy from the any of the hilts as she runs a hand over them.The Force was trying to pull her somewhere, to something, but it wasn’t this.

Continuing her descent, she notices broken pieces of various talismans and amulets, their energies also nonexistent when the girl waves her hand over them.

The girl only stops at the very bottom, two small, metal masses flashing against the blue light that shines over them. Upon closer inspection, Pavilla realizes they are charms, each so small that they could be fitted to the side of a lightsaber as the girl slowly pulls them from the sand they had been covered by.

One is as red as blood while the other is as blue as the seas of Scarif, metal twining around each stone in circular patterns. They are set against silver metal that wraps around the front of them in thin arrangements. They are beautiful, she thinks as she puts each in the small satchel that is wrapped around her shoulder.

After she ensures that the charms are secure in her bag, she looks around the dark space, allowing the Force to draw her forward toward a large opening in the wall that looked to be a lair of some sort. Suddenly, as if something within the opening sensed her presence, a loud screech sounded, her ears ringing as she grimaced at the noise.

Where there should have been fear, there was none. She has faced worse.

Pavilla hears the screech again, her head pounding at the onset of it as she rounds a corner. If not for the pull of the Force, she would have missed the small crack in the wall that is big enough only for her to fit through. Her ears still ringing from the sound, she shakes her head in effort to rid herself of the feeling.

Once through, she is met with a metal box, chains encasing and wrapping around it with no noticeable opening to the contraption. The sun’s rays shine upon the box that sits on a pedestal in the room, making it look like some kind of beacon as the girl swam forward to run her hand over the the chrome box.

A few moments passed where she was thrown through void of the vision, but then Ooni saw two crystals on a desk and an old Jedi repairing a long hilt. Her family’s crest hung on a tapestry against the wall by the man, who turned and looked at her.

Pavilla moved backwards, extending a hand out towards the box as she summoned the Force to her with practiced ease. Her days aboard the Legacy had been a help in her ability to wield it, after all. The familiar feeling of it wrapping around her fingers was satisfying as she willed the old, rusted chains to fall from the box, the simple things moving aside and falling to the ocean floor with a defeated thump.

With the chains no longer obstructing her view, Pavilla curled her fingers in, three clicks sounding throughout the small chamber as the lid of the chest slowly rose to reveal a some kind of amulet that had odd markings and symbols carved across it’s smooth, gold surface. In the middle there was a red stone that reminded her of fire as it glistened in the sun. She’d read about amulets from one of Kylo Ren’s holobooks, but she wasn’t sure what this one was or what it did as she tentatively took it from its resting place in the middle of the chest.

Almost as soon as she’d pulled herself out, a shrill screech echoed throughout the cavern once more, the girl’s heart beginning to pound against her chest at the closeness to the origin of the noise as she kicked her legs faster to get out of the cave she’d entered.

“Kriff,” she thought. She needed to get out of here, else she had a nagging feeling that something very bad would happen to her.

Something stirred behind her, the sound of electricity and live wires crackling very loud as the girl’s heart raced, her legs beginning to burn from her efforts of trying to evade whatever was trailing behind her.

Fear threatened to wrap around her as it crawled along her spine when she sensed a large creature was following her, but she refused to allow that. She had gone against worse than this and told herself she would not go down to some measly sea creature. She was a proud Praetorian Guard and apprentice to Kylo Ren, and she would be damned if she didn’t fight and make good on her training.

The noise came again, the darkness that surrounded her slowly dissipating as she made her exit into the open space of the metal grotto.

“Who…Who are all of you?” Ooni asked, clearly confused.

Though she should have been scared that she was about to face such a giant life form, she was not. Instead, she found her adrenaline coursing through her in anticipation of the fight she knew was coming, a knowing smirk peeking at the edges of her lips as she grips at the lightsaber and moves it in front of her, taunting the creature as light blue bolts of electricity ran down its body when it came closer and closer to the girl who remained still near the floor of grotto.

Waiting until the creature was only a few feet away, the girl pushed off the ground to turn upside down once she had moved out of the way of its open jaws, swiftly running her lightsaber through its right eye as it screamed in pain, its body wriggling to the side as she turned the weapon off, only igniting it once more as she pierced the cranium of the giant creature, effectively killing it as it went limp and fell to the ocean floor in defeat.

Pavilla was, if she was being honest with herself, disappointed in how easy it had been to kill the monster, her moment of victory suddenly interrupted when she caught movement out of the corner of her eye.

Turning around to look at the cave she’d just come from, she spotted another electric eel, this one two times the size of the one she’d just fought.

A part of her was excited at the prospect of being able to battle such a large creature, her muscles instinctively loosening as she prepared herself again to fight.

“Let’s go, volt brain,” she thought to herself.

“The fuck?” she thought to herself, before getting an idea. She untied the crystal in her hair and touched it to the crystal from the pilot. The new crystal began to glow and a golden hue crept across its surface. Ooni felt a buzz go through her hands and her body jerked as a burst of energy surged through her. She noticed dark, swishing masses outside of the X-Wing. “Kriff,” Ooni thought.

The crystals began to almost burn her fingertips as they bonded, warmth running up through her veins as the energy flowed through her. She noticed blue swirls forming on her fingers, creeping up her hand and her right arm, etching trails into her skin. Then something hit the ship.

Ooni was smacked into wall of the ship, her aquata-breather breaking and dislodging, falling soundlessly to the floor. She panicked and instantly began to try to swim out of the X-Wing, getting halfway to the exit before she was greeted by the ugly face of an eel jarring the ship and trying to swim in, jaws gnashing. Terror struck a deep chord through her and Ooni surprised herself with how fast she jumped into her own defense. She returned the crystals, now bonded together, to the pocket of her suit.

Ooni reached out with the arm covered in blue swirls and concentrated her energy, and she realized she was able to breathe, a strange calm washing over her even as the creature was inches away from her face. Before she had time to process, she felt a gathering of energy at her fingertips and closed her eyes, pushing and releasing the energy.

Suddenly, the monster was across the ship, lodged in the wall. Another eel approached from the side of the ship as Ooni quickly swam out. Her mind hazed over as the surge of power overtook her within seconds. The eel sprung and Ooni’s strangely familiar power benefitted her again as she saw the eel’s body implode.

Her mind was clear of that as she spoke, her friend quick to see the sincerity to which Pavilla spoke as her gaze pierced Ooni’s with conviction.

Pavilla moves away from the wall, ignoring the way the room sways around her as she takes a step back. She has to keep moving, she decides.

Inaction was weakness in her mind, so she would not yield.

Considering her friend, she decided to confide in her and tell Ooni what she’d seen as she thinks back to the vision,” The Force showed me what happened here.”

She gestures to the room around her,” This ship… it was carrying relics and old artifacts of the Sith and Jedi when this system was attacked by the rebels in the Battle of Scarif. That’s why you saw so many destroyed ships around the bay,” Pavilla confessed.

Pavilla watches as Ooni’s look of concern grows, her brows drawing together as she thinks over what Pavilla has just told her.

It is lost on Pavilla why Ooni seems so perturbed, but she wants to help rid her friend of the feeling.

She gives a light smile to her friend, hoping that her companion will understand,” I’m fine,Ooni, really. Don’t worry!”

Turning away from Ooni, Pavilla’s vision catches the blaster she’d touched. She only considers it for a second, her hand moving to take the blaster from it’s abandoned place on the shelf as she clips it to her belt.

“Alright, if you’re sure… Just, let me know if something else happens and you want to go. Lord Ren won’t have it if one of us dies or something,” Ooni remarked uneasily. She tightened her grip on the flashlight she brought and slung her pack over her shoulder.

If she was being honest with herself, though, this place was definitely one that made her feel uneasy, but she wasn’t about to admit that to Ooni and worry her friend more than she already had.

Ooni was the first one out of the room and noticed there were some collapsed panels that lead to the middle of the ship, from how high they were, she could see where the submerged part of the ship began and where the dry part ended.

 A large X-Wing was impaled right through the wall of the Destroyer a good drop below them, it was on the other side of the ship and it was very hard to see in the dark, but the reflective stickers were blinding as the flashlight’s glare raked across them.

The vision she’d seen replays in her mind, the girl astounded at how much chaos and death had brought about the fate of the system and ship she was now on. Her grandfather, Sheev Palpatine, had been involved. She knew that to be true as she looked around the metal cavern at smaller X-Wings and dark, gaping holes in the walls.

When Ooni speaks, Pavilla can discern the curiosity paired with need that Ooni has to go  to the rebel ship. The Force was leading her companion there, she knew. If anyone understood the pull of the Force, it was Pavilla.

She ended up sliding down the rest of the way, which was luckily only a few feet. She stood up with disgust and tried to wipe the algae off of her pants to no avail, “Pavilla, you okay back there? We probably should have brought jet packs or something, it’s gonna be a karking pain to get out of here.”

Pavilla watched as her friend descended, fear gripping her as the floor gave out under Ooni and she disappeared into the chasm of water below with a splash.

It was only when Pavilla heard her friend cursing below that she released a breath she hadn’t realized she’d been holding, shaking her head at her friend’s clumsiness. It was just like Ooni to fall hundreds of feet and worry about a kriffing jet pack.

With a relieved sigh, she called out,” We’ll be fine, although I don’t see any fish or anything that would be a problem for us, water girl!”

With that, Pavilla jumps from the metal ledge and finds herself in the water after falling a few meters.

When she surfaces, she holds up one hand to reflexively catch the aquata breather her friend had thrown for her. Scanning her surroundings, she finds Ooni near an X-Wing that was lodged into wall just a little ways ahead of her. 

“Good luck, Ooni. I hope you find whatever it is that the Force is leading you to,” Pavilla calls out, her attention soon seized by the familiar tug of the Force. It seemed to want her to go down towards the ocean floor. 

She had a feeling she’d need it, soon.

Once the blade hisses to life, the girl dives, the blade doing little to light her way as she makes toward the bottom of the metal encased grotto.

From what she can see, there are various artifacts that lay abandoned on what used to be shelves that line each wall to either side of the girl, reminding her of the armory she’d just come from.

She stops at a row of lightsaber hilts, their kyber crystals long gone. She cannot feel any energy from the any of the hilts as she runs a hand over them.The Force was trying to pull her somewhere, to something, but it wasn’t this.

Continuing her descent, she notices broken pieces of various talismans and amulets, their energies also nonexistent when the girl waves her hand over them.

The girl only stops at the very bottom, two small, metal masses flashing against the blue light that shines over them. Upon closer inspection, Pavilla realizes they are charms, each so small that they could be fitted to the side of a lightsaber as the girl slowly pulls them from the sand they had been covered by.

One is as red as blood while the other is as blue as the seas of Scarif, metal twining around each stone in circular patterns. They are set against silver metal that wraps around the front of them in thin arrangements. They are beautiful, she thinks as she puts each in the small satchel that is wrapped around her shoulder.

After she ensures that the charms are secure in her bag, she looks around the dark space, allowing the Force to draw her forward toward a large opening in the wall that looked to be a lair of some sort. Suddenly, as if something within the opening sensed her presence, a loud screech sounded, her ears ringing as she grimaced at the noise.

Where there should have been fear, there was none. She has faced worse.

Pavilla hears the screech again, her head pounding at the onset of it as she rounds a corner. If not for the pull of the Force, she would have missed the small crack in the wall that is big enough only for her to fit through. Her ears still ringing from the sound, she shakes her head in effort to rid herself of the feeling.

Once through, she is met with a metal box, chains encasing and wrapping around it with no noticeable opening to the contraption. The sun’s rays shine upon the box that sits on a pedestal in the room, making it look like some kind of beacon as the girl swam forward to run her hand over the the chrome box.

A few moments passed where she was thrown through void of the vision, but then Ooni saw two crystals on a desk and an old Jedi repairing a long hilt. Her family’s crest hung on a tapestry against the wall by the man, who turned and looked at her.

Pavilla moved backwards, extending a hand out towards the box as she summoned the Force to her with practiced ease. Her days aboard the Legacy had been a help in her ability to wield it, after all. The familiar feeling of it wrapping around her fingers was satisfying as she willed the old, rusted chains to fall from the box, the simple things moving aside and falling to the ocean floor with a defeated thump.

With the chains no longer obstructing her view, Pavilla curled her fingers in, three clicks sounding throughout the small chamber as the lid of the chest slowly rose to reveal a some kind of amulet that had odd markings and symbols carved across it’s smooth, gold surface. In the middle there was a red stone that reminded her of fire as it glistened in the sun. She’d read about amulets from one of Kylo Ren’s holobooks, but she wasn’t sure what this one was or what it did as she tentatively took it from its resting place in the middle of the chest.

Almost as soon as she’d pulled herself out, a shrill screech echoed throughout the cavern once more, the girl’s heart beginning to pound against her chest at the closeness to the origin of the noise as she kicked her legs faster to get out of the cave she’d entered.

“Kriff,” she thought. She needed to get out of here, else she had a nagging feeling that something very bad would happen to her.

Something stirred behind her, the sound of electricity and live wires crackling very loud as the girl’s heart raced, her legs beginning to burn from her efforts of trying to evade whatever was trailing behind her.

Fear threatened to wrap around her as it crawled along her spine when she sensed a large creature was following her, but she refused to allow that. She had gone against worse than this and told herself she would not go down to some measly sea creature. She was a proud Praetorian Guard and apprentice to Kylo Ren, and she would be damned if she didn’t fight and make good on her training.

The noise came again, the darkness that surrounded her slowly dissipating as she made her exit into the open space of the metal grotto.

“Who...Who are all of you?” Ooni asked, clearly confused.

The Force is telling me that there are buried objects off the Scarif shoreline. Some of them possess strange power. Others could be quite valuable.

I invite everyone to take a swim and look for these hidden gems.

Sighing, Pavilla thinks over the many reasons why she’d joined the First Order. There were so many reasons, but that was one was the strongest next to her desire to learn the ways of the Force and find her purpose in life.

Drawing her brows together, she tries to think of what she should say to her sister in arms. What if Ooni thought her to be strange or weak?

The opening is just wide enough for each of them to pass through at a time, and darkness shrouds Pavilla as she slides past the entrance, the only source of light filtering through the gap in the wall.

There is an ominous feeling that slowly creeps over the girl, the hairs on the back of her neck standing up as she tries to get her bearings in the darkness that wraps around her.

Her hand instinctively moving to the her hip to grab for her Riot Baton, she momentarily forgets that she is not in her usual attire, her fingers nonetheless unclipping the foreign, old saber hilt from its place by a holster strapped to her hip.

The saber that she now holds is not her own, the girl closing her eyes as she remembers the familiar visions and dreams of a blade as black as night that is flecked and shrouded by white.

Shaking her head, she ignites the blade, the dark space soon covered in blue light that reminds her of the water that now churns violently against the fallen ship.

“Pav, I don’t like this. Why is the Force calling us here? This place seems dangerous…” Ooni whispered. Why she was whispering, she didn’t know. No one else was there, but it seemed like the sort of situation where one would want to whisper. Perhaps that was the effect the dark had on her. She walked deeper into the ship, finding a sturdy panel that lead up. She walked upwards and began to notice several smaller ships around them. By the looks of things, many resistance ships were jammed through the hull of the destroyer. Ooni was able to put two and two together once she saw an old helmet floating in the cockpit of a crushed X-Wing that blocked the way.

Pavilla finds herself moving through an alcove that she would’ve missed if not for the familiar pull of the Force, her feet almost moving on their own as she treads up a ramp that leads to what looks to be a small room up ahead. The metal beneath her hisses as she steps upon it, a small pang of fear striking her chest when she dips her head to look down.

It is not lost on her that below the ramp is a pit of darkness that she knows she will not survive if she were to lose her footing and fall, but she doesn’t care. She keeps moving despite her better senses that are screaming at her to get away, refusing to give in it them. The Force was calling her here. She could feel it.

Suddenly Pavilla hears a voice. Or rather, a combination of multiple voices into one that call her name. It echoes around her, the girl so taken aback at the onset of it that she jerks her head in the direction from which the voices had whispered her name.

It had come from the small room that is only a few steps ahead, and where she should have felt fear, it had gone away. It had been just as fleeting as the wind that now howled outside of the ship that screamed at its trespassers.

Taking a deep breath, the girl continued on until she took in what must have been an armory. Shelves that spanned the length of the room lined each wall, blasters of every sort and make abandoned as they sat unused amongst each and every rack. Her hand, almost as if being compelled by another force to move, rises toward a blaster called the Westar-35.

Pavilla doesn’t know how she knows the name of the weapon, but she absent-mindedly runs her hand over the space above it, a strange sensation passing over the girl as she does.

Ooni had a sinking feeling in her stomach. Almost like a cat smelling the fear scent of it’s prey, Ooni could sense her friend’s distress. There was definitely something wrong, so Ooni decided to backtrack a bit, going towards the direction Pavilla had.

She got slapped in the face by a stray wire that came loose, but she brushed it off and kept going, “Pavilla?” Ooni called, hearing her voice echo in the damp cavern that the destroyer’s half-sunken shell had formed.
