okay so i've had this idea in my head for a while now and it's time to get it out maybe. so we know that alkahestry and alchemy are 2 different practices, one uses the energy from earthquakes and natural phenomena and the other uses the earth's energy flow. and when father blocks all alchemy, scar and mei can still use alkahestry. which poses the question: can ed learn alkahestry even though he gave up his alchemy?

cause i think he could. and he should. i love the whole giving up something to save someone you care about thing, but alchemy is something so personal to ed he doesn't deserve to have none of it, and he could go study it with al and have mei teach him it and become another one man army.

he returns to amestris and roy is like welcome back full metal what's new and ed says this and throws some knives and makes a model of his face in roy's office. and roy just sighs and is like okay guess who's back everyone
