I know that a spectroscopic binary is a legitimate term used in astronomy, but how did it become the title for the fic? Like how did you come across learning about it and why did you decide to use it as a title? Mayhaps character symbolism (probably a lot of that), mayhaps it just sounded cool? Imo the names awesome so that was an amazing choice

oh boy. the naming process went something like,

"uhhh okay it's gotta be space themed, right? wait FUCK i don't know anything about space. uhhhhh stars??? yeah that sounds good, stars are easy. i know there's like, binary star systems?? binary is the one with two, right? yes yes okay, let me check- ah fuck, there's something with that title already. are there other binary star systems? OOOH yes okay, let me see- oh no way. there's a star system where two stars orbit each other and they orbit each other so closely you can barely distinguish them apart. PERFECT let me just- FUCK there's something with that name already. maybe like.... inside of it? wait no that's stupid. within?? you know what, fuck it, good enough, i'm not doing this for another half an hour."

#i'm very picky about my titles #they need to be thematically relevant but also i have rules for them (not too long no punctuation etc)#so i usually ragebait myself for like half an hour and then say 'yknow what good enough send tweet'
