Only Robert Downey Jr

 Robert Downey Jr. is racist for multiple reasons:

He did blackface for his film Tropic Thunder. Instead of people panning the film due to its blatant anti blackness, it actually got critically acclaimed and Robert Downey Jr. received nominations for his role from the Oscars, the SAGs, the BAFTAs and the Golden Globes. Blackface is racist due to its historical use in disseminating racist stereotypes through minstrel shows. The term “Jim Crow” actually originated from a minstrel show when a white minstrel show performer, Thomas Rice, blackened his face and danced a jig to a song called “Jump Jim Crow.” The term Jim Crow became a pejorative and was used in the “Jim Crow Laws” which were used to racially segregate America. It is impossible to separate blackface from its history of the oppression of black people. It is disgusting how RDJ and the rest of the film’s contributors profited from being blatantly racist.

He did yellowface for his film Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows. This film was also a commercial success. The initial entrance of Asian immigrants into America was treated positively since they were a source of cheap labour. But following a large wave of Asian immigrants due to the California Gold Rush, Asians began to be seen as a threat. What began as neutral or amusing stereotypical caricatures of Asians soon took on more negative connotations.

He thinks feminism is “make believe”. I hope I don’t have to explain how this is misogynistic. He is speaking from a place of immense male privilege and disregarding a movement which has changed the lives of millions of women around the world for the better. Now there is contention as to whether his quote was taken out of context but I personally would not put it past him to be thinking this way.

Honestly, there’s a million other things that make him a shitty person. He’s used transphobic slurs before, he defended Mel Gibson who has been convicted of domestic violence and as a result is an abuse apologist and he’s said some really ableist stuff about Chris Evans and his anxiety (suffering from anxiety isn’t akin to being a “nervous nelly”; it’s a fucking mental illness which is difficult to deal with and can’t be fixed by trying to “man up” or whatever the fuck that means.)
