hello everyone, i need to vent bc this has been sitting in my head for a while.
i started writing here about 3 months ago. honestly, i was enjoying myself. i put a lot of energy into it, especially writing for paige, and i really thought i was doing something good. but i’ve deleted it all now—not because i hated it or bc i wasn’t grateful, but bc this fandom is… something else.
let’s just say it: some of the “big” authors on here are lowkey rude. like, they act like they’re on another level compared to everyone else. they’ll post and collect all the hype, but if you comment or send an ask hyping them up? complete silence. it’s almost funny at this point. i’ll drop something simple like “new favorite” or “the way you have with words” and get ignored so hard, you’d think i said something offensive. not even a like. nothing.
and it makes you wonder—do they actually enjoy ignoring people? or do they just think they’re too good to respond? because that’s the vibe: “we’re up here, you’re down there.” like, sorry i’m not a 20k-follower writer, but i didn’t know basic manners were follower-locked.
and the worst part? they’ll happily soak in compliments, reblogs, hype—all of it—but god forbid they ever give that energy back. you can support them until your fingers fall off, and in return you’ll get… crickets. maybe a half-hearted reblog if the stars align. but a follow back? actual interaction? oh no, that’s reserved for people on their level. 🙄
and here’s the thing: i wasn’t just posting my little series and dipping. i was actually supporting others. i reblogged my mutuals, tagged them, shouted them out, even when it wasn’t my exact genre. i put in effort to build some kind of community. meanwhile, the “too good for us” authors just float above everyone, acting like royalty while ignoring the people who literally keep their notes section alive.
now, of course, not everyone is like this. there are nice creators who followed back, interacted, and didn’t carry that fake “above you” energy. but i’ll be real—after getting ignored so many times, i don’t even bother trying to dm them bc this app overall feels very “pick-me hierarchy.”
so yeah. some authors here really do act like they’re celebrities, and some are actually cool. i’ll tag the good ones later bc they deserve it. but as for the rest? the “i’m too important to even acknowledge you” crew? y’all are not as untouchable as you think.
the gems (actually interact, so sweet, love y’all):
✧ @prettygirl-gabi
✧ @hcneymooners
✧ @thaatdigitaldiary
✧ @teamfueckers
✧ @kehlaniscript
✧ @bueckersworld
🚫 the ghosts (don’t interact back / give “above it all” energy):
✦ @lupinqs (her whole friendgroup lowkey :(. )
✦ @bueckersbitch
✦ @vamptizm i had a whole conversation once with her and never a follow back 😭😭
✧ @azzibuckets
AND WAY MORE , i’m just rambling now but trust i will tag more people on both sides. once again this is not bullying or harassing, im simply just making sure this doesn’t happen to the next because you guys ARE very unwelcoming and i know it’s not your job. but if you enjoy writing why ruin it for the next even if it’s not your responsibility. thank you again, i guess.
