Watch: This 106-year-old black womanâs meeting with the Obamas will melt your heart.
Hi, I was just wondering if you could provide a different source for the infographic in the post about drug users versus drug prisoners? the link provided in the post leads to a private vimeo that can't be accessed without a password. Just wanted to fact check before reblogging, thanks!
Iâll look for a different source for the video but in the meantime I think HuffPo (as polarized as they are) released a pretty good article with sources on this specific issue.http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2013/09/17/racial-disparity-drug-use_n_3941346.htmlI hope you find that helps and that you always stay diligent when it comes to sourcing claims online. It makes me happy.

Hey there! Regarding your drug usage vs. imprisonment infographic, can you provide a source? I tried to click on the one you listed but it links to a private, password protected video. It's not that I think it's false, I'd just really like to see the study it is derived from so I know I'm reblogging accurate info/statistics =) Thanks!
As much as I believe the Huffington Post to be biased I find that this article on the issue to be pretty well-sourced with different studies on imprisonment rates for drug offences versus drug usage rates within populations. To be honest Iâm disappointed that the video is now password protected but to be fair it did lack cited sources for itâs claims so I hope I was able to help. Stay curious.http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2013/09/17/racial-disparity-drug-use_n_3941346.htmlÂ
This mismatch in perceptions is really dangerous, because it means Putin could accidentally trigger war by misreading American intentions. Parading a bunch of US Army armored vehicles within sight of the Russian border is meant to to convey to Moscow that the US is so serious about defending Estonia that it would consider Russia stirring up trouble even in this little border town to be a trigger for war.
To be clear, this is distinct from the popular and wrongheaded conservative argument that Obama is emboldening America's enemies by being insufficiently tough or by not bombing enough countries. The concern is not that Obama is weak (if anything, it's the strength of his commitment to deterrence in Estonia that is coming into play). Rather, the concern is that the US and Russia do not have the same understanding of where the US draws the line for war. Obama is trying to make that line as clear as possible to Putin â and prevent it from getting crossed. This only works, though, if Putin sees the US Army parading on his border and understands that it's meant as a deterrent. It's all too possible that Putin, who is known to get a bit paranoid about US intentions, could read this as a threat of American aggression or outright invasion. That would make things substantially more dangerous.

Schools in Oakland, California, may have found the key to closing the achievement gap between African-American males and other groups of students, according to a recent report. In 2010, Oakland Unified School District (OUSD) began offering electi...
After a mosque was burned down by an arson, this is how they respond to haters.Â
This happened in my city, not far from where I live. It has recently been discovered that the man responsible was a homeless man who accidentally set the fire trying to keep warm. There seems to be no anti-Islamic motives in his actions.
However, if you ever had doubt how Islamophobic people are and how terrible âChristiansâ are being in light of what happened to the center, then go take a look at their Facebook page. They have responded to every cruel and hateful comment with nothing but grace.

Jeff Jackson, a young Democratic NC State senator is the only senator in the general assembly today due to the snow.
godspeed, jeff
Iâve seen some people buried in the ring, but nobody killed.
Let em know
The CIA didnât create the Taliban, that is a common misconception.Â
I always find the logic of blaming the US government for helping create Middle Eastern terrorist groups a bit faulty. I mean, there is a good chance that people likes Bin Laden would still have perpetrated the acts of terror that they did, even if the US didnât get involved in Afghanistan.
I mean, hell, one the Talibanâs first targets were the Mujahideen who fought against the Russians, right?
That is correct- many of the Mujahids who had fought against the USSR joined the Northern Alliance under Ahmed Shah Massoud which fought against the Taliban, and Bin Laden had nothing to do with the US involvement. He went to Afghanistan of his own accord and used the money from his familyâs businesses to fund the groups he was with.Â
I wonder how long the lie of the US supporting/creating the Taliban will persist now.
Well considering the most basic fact that the Taliban didnât come it existence until 1994. I am guessing as people want to be guilted in to everything. Also this is the equivalent of saying since the US supported various Chinese factions during their occupation by the Japanese (The nationalists, the communists, anyone who could fight back). That the US always wanted the PRC in power, and openly supported them.
Still, many of the guerillas the US trained then went on to eventually join the taliban. Western intervention broke Libya and turned it into a war-torn hellhole of a failed state, and the US and Britain armed the very jihadists who are now fighting under the banner of the Islamic state. And now weâre arming Kurds who arenât even hiding their ties to the terrorist PKK to deal with them.
The mistake our governments keep making is assuming that the enemy of our enemy is our friend. We shouldnât arm anyone in the region and just stay out of it. And especially donât arm anybody whose battle cry is aloha snackbar, and then act all surprised when they start murdering innocents.Â
Also, OPâs gifset is ridiculous.
Islam is about the opposite of a religion of peace, judging from its teachings as well as its actions.
This is all utter insanity. The Qurâan mentions peace because it suggests there will only ever be peace when there is only Islam. There will be peace when the kafir are dead. Any âpeacefulâ or âpleasantâ verses are also null and void in the Qurâan. Mohammed claims those verses came to him from Satan. The verses are replaced later in the book when his message became violent. Mohammed was violent because polytheists, Koreishites and Christians wouldnât believe him. Mohammed turned his back on the Pagan Allah and created this new Allah that didnât have three daughters, a new Allah that was vengeful and violent. I hate it when people try and talk about the Qurâan as if they know it, when they clearly havenât even read it.Â
Is this from a fictional movie or a documentary?  I would blow up all over this professor and his bullshit.  Perhaps heâd love to show his students how much oil the US has actually imported since they toppled Saddamâs regime or how peaceful Afghanistan was before 9/11 and US War on Terror.  Professors like this guy are the kind of people that are probably funneling funds over to Islamic State.
His talking points are a fraud. Â Radical Islam has always been the regionâs worst enemy, not the US. Â We pulled out and theyâre right back at it tenfold.
This isnât even starting to mention the moral equivocation of the deaths that muslims have caused in their own countries for the past 30 years, which far outnumbers all of the deaths caused by Americaâs involvement in the middle east, and none of those deaths were caused because of America, in fact if anything, less deaths resulted due to American intervention.
Funny.
If I said someone was âonlyâ raped 41 times.Â
Or âonlyâ stabbed 41 times.
Or âonlyâ robbed 41 times.Â
That sounds like a really shitty argument.Â
"41 of those shitty times isnât that much when you compare it to the times they werenât stabbed repeatedly!â.
(Never mind trauma and ripple effects.)
I think the fact that Islam, any religion, mentions it AT ALLÂ in the first place is the fucking problem. Not âhow manyâ times it mentions it. You only need one.
It only calls for lvoing destruction of infidels 41 times, jeez, get over it guise. They mention love, a much more common, everyday word, more times. It must be a book and religion of peace!
Lvoing sophistry and apologism in this GIF set is through the fucking roof.
..Do yâall know what a jihad is?
I love when scripted TV shows accommodate a setting for the writerâs political views to triumph over convenient straw man arguments
Just because adherents of a religion are generally peaceful and law abiding doesnât mean the religion itself isnât based on something/scripture inherently less than peaceful. Especially when the scripture doubles as literal law and a guideline of governance heavily laden with exceedingly violent punishments for non-adherents.
Can we get some fucking citations up in here?

Itâs about to be 2015. And 41 states still have an active chapter of the KKK.
These chapters arenât just remnants of Americaâs more racist past; this year alone, one of the organizationâs chapters tripled in size. And the KKK isnât the only hate group that has been on the rise in the past few decades.
There are currently 939 known hate groups in the United States, âincluding neo-Nazis, Klansmen, white nationalists, neo-Confederates, racist skinheads, black separatists, border vigilantes and others,â the Southern Poverty Law Center reports. Since 2000, that number has increased by 56%.
Why are hate groups still such problem?Â
