One Pot Screamer Files

My mum asked me If I was going to try and get a picture of an Olympic torch bearer as they made their way through Wimbledon earlier this week.

I wasn't going to bother, it won't happen again in my lifetime so here you go mum. I'm actually looking forward to it, including the opening ceremony, even though the preview resembled a scene out of Michael Bentine's Potty Time. 

As I write this the Olympics have already kicked off with the team GB Women's football team 1-0 up against New Zealand.

On saturday I'm planning on taking a short three stop trip  down the railway line to Norbiton when I hope to catch a bit of the Olympic Cycling Road Race.

Battersea Square

I don't think I'll ever tire of London, partly because of the influx of people who come to work, set up business, visit and study from all over the globe. They give something of themselves to this metamorphic and at times spellbinding metropolis, in turn, the city leaves it's imprint. I love the fact that whenever I take the short journey into town there's always something new to see, a new place to discover.

Take Battersea Square, an enchanting spot a ropes throw from the river Thames. When the sun's out on a warm day and dapples through the Plane trees one can sit outside one of the restaurant bars in the square, close one's eyes and easily imagine being not in south London, but in a French square, somewhere in Provence perhaps.

Huntingdon Grammer School - The original building dates back to 1160

As I hope you can see this image shows the building literally oozing with history, the building is alive with character and has stood on this spot for over eight centuries.

The original school still stands and is now the Oliver Cromwell Museum, Samuel Pepys also attended the school which in 1939 changed it's name and location. The School is now known as Hinchinbrooke House and is located on Brampton Road, Huntingdon.

Michael Wickes notes: "The most famous of Huntingdon's medieval buildings was dedicated to John The Baptist. Part of this hospital for the poor, founded around 1160, still stands today as the building which houses the Cromwell Museum. ...the town acquired it to accomodate the Huntingdon Free School. ...it was here that Oliver Cromwell and Samuel Pepys received their elementary education."The Free School later became Huntingdon Grammar School, the forerunner of the present
