Date 2
This time I went with a new app called Hinge. The premise is that it will link you to people who are either 2 or 3 degrees removed from you. The idea being that your social network is the best indication of compatibility.Â
He was the friend of a very interesting friend of mine. I hadn't spoken to her in years but I had always appreciated her intelligence and wit, so I thought this was a good indication. To boot he looked cute in the pictures.Â
We met in a bar in the West Village. Â My first indication should have been that he didn't ask me where I was coming from. The bar, though lovely, was miles away in New York terms from anywhere in my life and it was a very cold, very rainy night.Â
This is the second date with a "finance" guy and the theme here is that they can only really talk about their work and, worse, themselves. Luckily he had a few more social graces and there were wee glimpses of interesting conversation. Enough to keep me curious and hopeful.
Date over and not too bad. Unfortunately it all came apart when he started texted me about the modeling out of a cost-benefit analysis of.... yep, me too.Â
Better luck next time maybe.
