"Leaving Snow Behind"
@onceandfutureevilqueen
"No, she has been...fine. Helena is learning a lot from her. Things I'm not certain I can teach her." Regina sighed.
"You trust that fairy, right?"
"I don't have any bad experiences with her. She told me that she was Helena's fairy godmother and she'd been looking for her for a while."
"I never had one." Regina shrugged.
"I...trust my daughter to know when she's in danger." It was an insane thing to say but Helena's abilities were unique and powerful.
"I worry that they don't think I'm good for her."
"Have you tried talking to her since she came to teach her before?"
"Only about Helena's progress." Regina admitted.
"Maybe you should try..." She suggested.
Regina had relaxed in her hold but was more tense now.
"Have you talked to Blue?"
"I haven't seen her since the night I killed father. I have lost my fairy godmother."
"Blue let you down. Its her fault. Why does that mean you don't have a fairy godmother anymore?" Regina was furious that even afterwards it appeared no other fairy stepped in to help.
"Blue is my fairy godmother. I dont' think people get another especially not when they're adults."
"People are not the reigning queen of one of the most powerful kingdoms." Regina pointed out.
"I think the fairies don't like my.... darkness." She said quietly.
"A Queen can't survive without darkness." Regina said bluntly.
"I know. But the fairies job is to foster hope and light. It's not judgement of darkness... I'm just... no longer their job. Your daughter is."
"Helena has a better grasp of light and darkness than any of them." Regina said simply.
"Didn't you...like her?" Blue.
"I loved her. And .... what happened to me broke her. I'm told she has locked herself away ... in a flower...." She said as if that sounded insane.
"Coward." Regina said simply.
"I'll talk to...Tiger Lily. Even if she couldn't come up with a better name.
"You really dislike her?" She tilted her head.
"I dislike all fairies." Regina said with a shrug. "Ive never had a good experience with them. If Helena would feel this comfortable with her I wouldn't have given her access. Alas Helena likes her so I'm trying to be...nice.
She nodded.
Snow took care of Regina that night.
Tiger Lilly's lessons with Helena were in mornings in the garden and they were just finishing up a lesson in healing without giving up your own life energy.
Regina gently reached for her daughter who told her what she had learned today. Clearly very excited. Regina went down to her level and listened before asking Helena for a few minutes alone with the fairy. Helena watched her mother curiously hugged her tightly before going to play close by.
"How's she doing?" Regina asked carefully.
"She's a wonderful student. We've been working on how to make sure she isn't doing harm to herself when she wants to help."
It was a thing withnn untrained with untrained light magic users.
"Good. That's good." Regina said softly.
"She wants everyone to feel good and tries hard to help everyone. I worried about that.
"She is worried you risk yourself too much." She said gently.
Regina tilted her head.
"What do you mean?" She was immediately defensive.
"She knows you fight in your wars. She's worried she'll lose her mother."
"I've been careful." Regina said quietly. "Ive never cared if I lived or died. That had changed since I have my baby." Regina said softly.
"She's everything to me.
She smiled. "I know. You are a good mother."
"You...really think so?" Regina seemed utterly surprised. Almost shocked.
"Yes. Without question." She said gently.
"Oh." Regina said simply.
"I thought...fairies usually tell me I'm not good enough.
"Did anyone actually tell you that direct?" She asked quietly.
But she shook her head, "You have raised a wonderful child, are concerned about her and do your best for her. There is very little I could criticize about your parenting."
"Why else did no one ever come to help me?' Regina asked quietly.
"Blue said i was rotten
"Blue... I don't know if humans have a language for what happened to Blue. Fairies who were in her job too long can find it harder and harder to care about people. They see so much horror. She should have gone to her flower long ago."
"Do you still care?" Regina asked quietly.
She chuckled. "I'm not nearly Blue's age."
"So you won't take her from me?' Regina asked quietly. She rarely allowed herself to vulnerable like this but Helena was the reason she got up in her eyes morning.
She looked confused. "No. Of course not. I told you... you are a good mother. A complicated and frustrating woman but a good mother. You are capable of great darkness and great light. In a perfect world you would bring balance but I don't know if you really want to be in touch with the light side of you."
And for the first time Tiger Lily would see Regina smile at her. That genuine, beautiful smile Snow had talked about.
"Light magic has never been my strong suit. Rumple called it a waste of his time.
"That's because Rumple couldn't do it. His mother cut him off from his light magic when he was a baby."
She tilted her head. "If you like I can get you books to help you learn if you like."
There was a long pause but Regina eventually nodded.
"I want to understand what Helena is going through. I need to understand light magic.
"I'll get you books." She wasn't offering to teach her. Books gave Regina more power in this than offering to teach her.
Regina was glad there was no offer as she wouldn't have accepted it.
"Do you think its wise to push Snow to talk to the blue moth?" Regina was trying to trust the fairy just a little.
"I don't know if Blue would see her. Fairies don't take well to failing. She's trying to sort her head out." In a flower. For years.
"She's been sorting her head out for years, dear. Not even Blue is that slow." Regina said dryly.
"Either she's hiding or lost whatever sanity she had left. If she's nuts talking to her is a waste of time.
"Fairies aren't humans. it's not that much time for us."
"I'm a witch dear. Time runs differently for me too. Its been a long time for her too hiding in thst damn flower."
"She failed. Failing your fairy godchild .... is a lot. You always love your fairy godchild. I was Rumple's fairy godmother. He was my first."
"You fairies have an incredible track record." Regina said dryly.
"Id say you failed too, then."
"Rumple is complicated. he was born to be a Savior. His mother became convinced all Saviors die so she made herself into a dark fairy and forceably cut his ties to his destiny.... that had unintended consequences. But yes. I failed because I didn't guide her correctly and underestimated her fears. It's why I respect yours."
Regina watched her for a long time. "Rumple taught me to take hearts. How to control them, cause incredible pain and kill. He used me to show all that. Complicated is a way to phrase it."
Regina had indeed very complicated feelings for Rumple too.
"But I appreciate your support. Genuinely.
"You are a very special magic user, Regina. Capable of using incredible light magic and incredible dark. Try not to let that mind of yours paint you into a box and think that's all you can be."
Regina watched her suspiciously.
"And what if I chose to be all darkness?"
"Your choice." She shrugged.
"Good. Thats all I needed to know." Regina said quietly.
"You're...tolerable.
She chuckled. "Trying to push you to any direction wouldn't be well received. You are a defiant woman."
She winked at her. "You are tolerable as well."
"I am." Regina said simply. Still, it seemed Tiger Lily managed not to turn Regina against her.
"Helena is special isn't she? Not just because she's my daughter but objectively speaking.
Already obsessed 🥵 with her

Ongoing Emergency Update
Basic info: I'm a disabled enby taking care of my disabled elderly mother, and we're Homeless. I've been and continue to look for work but at the time being Moms SSI is our only stable income.
This months wrinkle: The managers at Motel 6 let us stay way over the allowed number of days for literally as long as they could but as of yesterday we Had to be Out, so we moved to Best Western because it was the only semi affordable place in town, but it is more expensive and having to pay for a cab to get from point A to point B ate up another chunk of money.
We've got the room paid for until the 9th but as of the 3rd we're flat broke.
Luckily they have Breakfast included in the price of the room so I dont have to worry about feeding us. But I have no money to keep a roof over our heads let alone get The medications we need.
Literally any amount of help is incredibly appreciated, even a reblog helps, because the more people who see this the more likely it is that someone who can afford to help will see it.
PayPal / Ko-Fi
I was able to pay for another night. The rooms $94. Any amount of help would be incredibly appreciated.
STAR TREK: VOYAGER (1995–2001)
i love this scene so much. jack really responded to this guy doubting carter’s abilities by saying “actually, let’s make the target even harder to hit” knowing ofc that she’d have no trouble whatsoever doing it. i love this man❤️
television peaked with Once Upon a Time, like I can watch Anna from Frozen try to convince Snow White's Prince Charming to fight evil Warlord Little Bo Beep and he's like 'You don't know what you're talking about Anna from Frozen, my dad died when I was six because he was an alcoholic' and be like that's not even the most insane moment of this episode
