Looked up some clips, I don’t quite see it but I get where you're coming from. Nathan seems more like the cocky annoying wisecracker whereas Snotlout is not nearly as much of a smooth talker and much more whiny, he's not the one who gets to have the last laugh if that makes sense

Actually there should just be an AU where Hookfang actually leaves Snotlout in total nightmare

Like maybe he shoos Snotlout off, dies fighting the titanwing (still not over how they mentioned those ONCE for a game plug and then never again) and Snotlout goes on the rest of his life thinking his dragon rejected him

Living in a society full of people with bonded dragons, the riders having made clear that they think his and Hookfangs bond was the weakest and being proven right

It's so much worse than the end of THW too bc Snotlout is the only person this ever happened to (reinforcing his fuckup status), the riders still exist he just can’t be part of the team anymore and considering how they immediately pushed him to pick a new dragon Snotlout wouldn't be given much sympathy

Like he's somehow being stubborn by refusing to get a new dragon. Which, even if Snotlout wanted too, would also carry an inherent fear with it. Even if he were to pick a new dragon, would he just be rejected again?

I think the twins as characters were held back by them no having any strong established relationship outside of one another. Like 90% of the twin episodes where about them having a strong bond which like yeah, they're together 24/7 I wasn’t doubting that. Plus there's no depth to their relationship. How does the way Tuff sees Ruff differ from the way Ruff sees Tuff? They’re just codependent and that's kinda it

Snotlout would probably just wish for Thor to return his feelings rather than wishing for Fishlegs to love him. This would add an interesting extra layer bc unlike Bear, Snotlout was in love with a self-created artifice that he imposed on another person from the beginning

Bears fatal flaw is cowardice, wereas Snotlout is cronically dishonest with both himself and others. This would lead him to similar outcomes: Being unwillimg to admit his crush to Fishlegs, being in denial about Thor acting strange as well as about Fishlegs begging for help and becoming beligerant when others critize their relationship

Spoiler⚠️ I feel like the fakeout ending works better for them, since Snotlout went in from the getgo wishing for someones conciousness to be overwritten it feels fitting for that to be his ultimate fate. He carries more blame than Bear initially did while at the same time having to endure more suffering at the hands of Thor, since Thor is both significantly stronger than him and agressive from the getgo
