The man had tried to take a circuitous route to remain unnoticed, and in the darkness of the late evening, he had succeeded so well that the young woman nearly lost sight of him several times. His gait was familiar, but it was impossible to believe that this man from her past, this man from her dreams, would find the strength to return. Snotlout paused, crossing his arms over his chest. He was tormented by the thought that fate had unfairly separated him from the woman he loved, who had accidentally noticed him and was following him closely. They had much to discuss, and the chieftain would have to wait...

She needed Snotlout, but he was nowhere to be found, which alarmed her. This annoying Viking had been stalking her for the past few days, and now he seemed to have vanished. She had been uncontrollable with him, but he, too, had clearly irritated her. However, after calming down, Ruffnut realized it was her fault, and her friend's words were hurtful, but they were true, and she couldn't bear to admit her guilt.

The sun was already setting when the girl spotted Jorginson, the man she needed, on the roof. The foolish youth had run out of the hall earlier, forgetting his fur cloak and never returning for it, and it was already getting cold, which only strengthened Ruffnut's resolve to follow her friend. She didn't want to give him a fever if he got cold.

The girl approached Snotlout from behind; he either pretended not to notice her or genuinely didn't hear her approach, engrossed in studying some book, which was somewhat surprising. Ruffnut shook her head and draped the fur over the boy's shoulders.

"I didn't want you to freeze," the girl said. She began to look at Snotlout differently, apparently the main reason for her anger at the younger Jorginson.

"Thank you," the viking replied, adjusting his fur; he was indeed slightly chilled.

"What is this?"

"The girl pointed to the book on his lap, and the viking handed the leather-bound book into her hands. Raffnut sat a little distance away, leafing through the pages—it was an old fairy tale—but decided to steal a glance at Snotlout.

He held a long-empty goblet in his hands, his eyes closed, smiling to himself. This smile softened his features, making him look attractive. Raffnut took advantage of this brief moment to admire the young man.

"Snotlout, forgive me," Raffnut said, extending her hand toward him.

He didn't answer, merely nodded dreamily, watching the sun disappear into the endless water.
