Months prior to the film's release, a casting call had Asian pop stars for a little scene. That turned out to be the sequence where Shorty gets hypnotised by Ghostface into an animated drug trip themed around...you guessed it!

This wasn't in the trailers explains Paramount kept it a secret until the film's release on June 5th. It was posted first on Twitter a day before the US release which had fans shocked all around. I'll dissect it in full detail in the next paragraph (NSFW warning!)

The sequence begins with Shorty (Marlon Wayans) sinking down the couch and gets turned into an animated version of himself. He lands down safely where he starts singing a parody of the Oscar-winning song "Golden", changing the meaning of the OG into a song about smoking and "speaking Korean". Expies of the trio show up (below) and run around Shorty before he smokes them to reveal...they're demons all along...

The demons impress Shorty by exposing their boobies, panties and spice only for him to take of his trousers and the trio cry hearts (think of Zoey's first reaction to Abby in the OG film). Shorty is now in bed with the three and eats munchies similar to how HUNTR/X eats their ramen during "How It's Done". Derpy licks him in the bed and he pees shortly after. Derpy and this motherfuckin rat get high and Shorty and the three demons have a foursome (with censored genitalia to achieve a 15 rating). An explosion occurs at the end of the sequence and we're back to Shorty in the bed with three girls resembling the original HUNTR/X. Gotta say it, Shorty was as high as Elon Musk, speaks more Korean and goes back to bed.

For me, I see the sequence that offensive and racist given that Koreans are beautiful from the other humans' perspective. The lyric "got me speaking in Korean" kinda reminds me of that one Lady Gaga song where she wishes she can speak German. Not the first time I have been offended by a racist Asian joke. The Devil Wears Prada 2 had Andy's coworker be Asian with a stereotypical name and the entirety of Slanted, trust me, I'm white.

This sequence was originally gonna have Shorty see other versions of himself but the KPDH joke came along Marlon's trans son watched the film in light of...Demon Slayer. Stop chasing recent trends, Marlon!

From October 2023 to launch day, I have always been hyped for KPop Demon Hunters even when the news dropped. The popularity for the franchise is low at the time but grew bigger and bigger as the days pass. Now it's Netflix's first animated movie to be a cash cow depute only providing distribution. At the end, they fully own the franchise with their names around every material as well as producing the sequel (they recently announced they used AI for over 300 movies and shows throughout this year and beyond so fuck them).

Months pass, and I'm already getting tired of the hype starting in September (weeks after seeing the movie for the 3rd and final time in the cinema). I've seen recreations and reactions of 'Golden' all over Instagram depute that song COPIED 'I Am' by IVE. Heck it won almost every animation award in 2025-6 thanks to all that!

Now over to the 'Elsagate' section where mainly on Youtube when you search the movie up other than the lyric videos published by its animation company, you'll see this. Pregnancy, mermaids, little kids, police, etc. ALL around the platform. The ads also have inappropriate ads such as a screenshot where HUNTR/X makes their first full appearance during the prologue edited with Gemini to have them wear bikinis and be pregnant at the same time but can vary. Parents! Keep your kids out of YT!

In the real world, you'll hear 'Golden' on the radio, see KPDH merch around, unofficial merch of the film created with AI (I've seen them on a few little girls) and the knockoff dolls I've seen at my local Forbidden Planet. At this point, KPDH is a repeat of Frozen where you can see and hear the same type of thing going around depute the former being a DTS movie and the latter being theatrical.
