âSomehow, Ed was able to document life in the truest way, always finding beauty and staying connected to the otherwise mundane.â Nan Goldin remembers the photographer Ed van der Elsken.Â

The men who still have marks of the claw and the thunderstorm, and that boy who cries because he has never heard of the invention       of the bridge, or that dead man who possesses now only his head and a shoe, we must carry them to the wall where the iguanas and the snakes       are waiting, where the bearâs teeth are waiting, where the mummified hand of the boy is waiting, and the hair of the camel stands on end with a violent blue shudder.

People only bring up your past when they are intimidated by your present.

âGaldrakver,â a seventeenth-century Icelandic manuscript, written on animal skin and containing magical staves, sigils, prayers & charms. My favorite was this page adorned in sigil-like branches that was used for spells of protection and keeping evil spirits out. I am enthralled by the history and folklore of this island. (Instagram)

This is why we canât have nice thing - Olympia
This quiet piece of heaven birds cut circles out of sky Below, boredom gets her bitch on The trash the treasure All white noise
Every time we meet we fall Every time we meet we fall apart
Falling apart like apples in pieces Running away like watercolour stains Falling apart like distant lovers Flown away like paper bags in the rain
And I tied All these memories Stacked like semi- precious jewels Painted by little forest fire I quit my taste for tears My hero in Galliano, what were we, but tapioca pearls
I saw you on the street I saw you drop her hand Still enough goddam spark to light cigarettes Lucky rome was built on misspelt tattoos Lucky rome was built on ruins Iâll get over you

Many stories matter. Stories have been used to dispossess and to malign. But stories can also be used to empower, and to humanize. Stories can break the dignity of a people. But stories can also repair that broken dignity.

I donât feel that Iâm using technology, I donât feel that Iâm wearing technology â I feel that I am technology. I feel no difference between the software and the brain, or the antenna and any other body part.Â
Fascinating short documentary about a cyborg named Neil Harbisson, who has a visual condition called achromatism â complete color-blindness â and uses an antenna that translates colors into sound waves, allowing him to hear colors via bone conduction.Â
Complement with the wonderful childrenâs book The Black Book of Colors, which allows blind kids to experience color and seeing kids to imagine what itâs like to experience the world blind.
Meanwhile, people with synesthesia naturally hear colors.Â
âThe song becomes a perfect metaphor for the record itself. Weâve pushed this work â and ourselves â far out of any comfort zone, and weâve created a body of work that is a reflection of each person involved, the studios we worked in, the equipment weâve exploredâ.Â
Olympia: Sweet as Honey
Alphabet Pony interview with Olympia
Honey - Olympia
Every lover you turn your back on Turns up new in someone else's arms I don't wanna see Who I am, in you now
Memories hang like long forgotten clothes Turn up strange and Instantly you'll know The distance between the lost, the let go
What we are now and how you see it When what you have Is not what you need Honey-
Friday night trying to swap dreams Conversations with Pokie machines You see yourself In the surface of everything
Some beekeeper with a hot shot idea Fed his bees cut price candy canes Coloured all the honey in this state red
My blood still Stings with the last of you My 3am Fuck, what-am-I-doing-with-my-life thought

Honey video outtakes
Honey - Olympia
Honey is essentially about the effect we have on each other. I was mesmerised by footage of Ballet Russes dancers hanging out on Bungan Beach, NSW during the 1930s. This was during their eight year tour of Australia, exposing everyday Australians to the work of Stravinsky, Picasso, Dali and Di Chirico.
Working with Alex Smith & Revolver has been a ridiculous privilege. Alex took the footage, and added his own magic to it. Not only equipment and skills (his showreel is insane), but Alex is one of those rare people who put something of themselves into your work.
I like to start with an idea, but the work is process-driven and can end up anywhere. The recording and the making of this video, fitting with the song, just wouldnât have been the same without the people I collaborated with.
