Today I printed off the business cards, CV and journal to hand in! I also burnt the appropriate files onto disk to hand in with the paper copies. I am pleased with the results for the final piece and believe it is reflective of my hard work put in to the project, especially with my dissertation and other projects in for the same time.

Paolo Di Canio celebrated his first 3 points as Sunderland boss at the hands of bitter North East rivals Newcastle, in the Tyne- Wear derby.
Sunderland could accept nothing more than a win against their rivals as they started the afternoon in the bottom three, struggling to get out of the relegation dogfight.
Stephane Sessegnon opened the scoring with a low drive from the edge of the ‘D’ skipping past Tim Krul into the corner of the net. Adam Johnson curled in the 2nd midway through the 2nd half from 25 yards with a strike that shows the highest of qualities he possesses.
Vaughan made the victory complete with a rifling left-foot half volley from the left hand side of the box making it 3-0, to seal Sunderland’s first victory at St James’ Park in 13 years.
The victory leapt the Mackems out of the relegation zone to 15th place, with Wigan Athletic filling the final relegation space. Sunderland now have 5 games to secure their Premier League status.
This is the link to my first match report, in which I (coincedentally) scored 4 goals and received Man of the Match. I passed the report on to the website coordinator who edited accordingly, before posting on the site.
These are my final business card and CV designs. I kept the design simple, with inspiration from the Da Vinci quote, "simplicity, is the ultimate sophistication." As I am aiming towards the social media audience I kept the text in Tahoma; the font made popular worldwide from the Facebook logo. The theme of white text over black background, with Tahoma text will run throughout the project on my business card, CV and Journal.
I kept the design simple, with minimal information. I only put what I thought was necessary; Name, occupation and social networking addresses/ pages. I also put the logos of social networks Facebook, Twitter, Youtube, Instagram & Vine to add another dimension to the design, so that it is simply not just text.
I have 267 followers on my personal Twitter account, which I sometimes use to update my followers on, analyse and give views on live football matches. Although on my personal account, I aim to create a separate account dedicated to football tweets, however this is a very competitive market as I have found by following the big names like @BBCfootball, @premierleague and @101greatgoals, whose account also gives GIF’s and video clips of action as it happens.
I have had some feedback from my followers, many who think I’m doing it as a joke and many who think my tweets are too similar to other accounts. An idea from myself, and others would be to create a parody account or a less formal account with humour brought into it.
Above is an screenshot example from Twitter of the Stoke vs Man United Barclays Premier League match.
RADIO
One of my units in Semester 2 of Year 2 was to create a radio programme, to be Broadcast on Express FM to the people of Portsmouth and South East Hampshire. My contribution to the programme was an article on the demise of Portsmouth Football Club, interviewing a local fan in addition.
“In 2003 Harry Redknapp lead Portsmouth FC to promotion to the Premier League, just over a year after taking charge of the club. After two runs to the F.A Cup Final (winning one) and an unlucky UEFA Cup run, Portsmouth were relegated to the Championship after a 9 point deduction following from their administration. These financial problems meant the club had to sell many key players including Nico Krancjar, Peter Crouch and Glen Johnson.
Since 2012 the club have been in League 1, where they started on -10 points because of the financial situation. Portsmouth FC is now owned by the Pompey Supporters Trust and is the biggest owned fans club in football history.”
From the news and internet it seemed many fans were unpleased with Harry Redknapp, stating that he ruined Portsmouth Football Club. This was brought up in an interview with a local fan, who replied:
“No way, you can’t blame everything on Harry. He took over a struggling Championship club, taking them to eight year as a mid table Premiership team, winning the F.A Cup and leading us into Europe. The only problem I have with Harry is the players he bought and the wages they demanded. John Utaka for example; an ‘average at best’ player who was on £85,000 per week. It is disgusting!”

As well as playing for UPFC (The University of Portsmouth Football Club) I am part of the media team. I am the contributor for the 3rd team, providing scores, match stats and match reports which are put onto the UPFC website and keep subscribers updated via the Twitter account @UoPFootball.
The title for my Final Year project was:
"An investigatory study into the effects of technology on the dissemination of football results"
This study found that as technology rapidly enhances and evolves, the population are using hand held smart phones and tablets as well as satellite television to gain the latest news and updates from football.
‘Social TV and Second Screen viewing,’ an investigation by the Guardian in 2012, gives statistics and evidence that more and more of the population is “Second Screening.” With smart phones and tablets becoming more popular and with the continuing use of laptops, between 75% and 85% of TV viewers also use one of these devices to investigate information further and continue research where information is not given by the Television programme.
BSkyB and YouGov’s research looking into the habits of 18-24 year olds showed that 24% used Facebook when watching Television, whilst 9% used Twitter. 37% of viewers also share something about the show on social network while 31% talk to strangers about the happenings on their favourite shows.
These statistics are the reason I want to get into this industry, as awareness of social media is rising and used worldwide.

Inspiration for Business card
After designing ideas for my business card looking at complex drawings and shapes in my previous posts,(For example sports equipment) i felt that i should try the simpler option. Using this quote as inspiration, I thought that the white text on a black background worked really well and looked classier than the extravagance of the previous cards i was looking at and the ones drawn out in my sketchbook.
Using different serif and sans serif fonts for my name could have an effect on the outcome of the business card, as i plan to keep the card as plain as possible.

Influence of Sport
Sports (especially football) has played a huge and influential part in my life, from watching it on the television to participation. Even through university I have been involved in many ways; playing for the University of Portsmouth Football Club, attending Portsmouth F.C matches at Fratton Park, watching sports on TV and using sport as a subject in many of my units, including the analysis of the future of sports and technology.
After Graduation the perfect area for me to be employed in would be the broadcasting/ social media side of sport. I am a lover of all sports and believe I have a sufficient knowledge of a range of sports as i spend many hours of the day watching the repeated Sky Sports News programme.
With this degree, Entertainment Technology (BSc), I have learned the skills to work in concurrence with my knowledge of sports, which will hopefully lead into the area of sports broadcasting.
Trying to Design my own business cards
Posted from: Portsmouth PO5 2SL, UK
Since researching different types of industry specific business cards, I tried designing my own. My favourite is the Apple iPad business card as it is a simple idea and the audience should all know the shape of the product.
