Our team's final project was a wall mural for the home that detects carbon monoxide. Coleman will offer 5 different National Park images for the murals and will also offer the option of submitting your own image. The dimension of the murals will be customizable. Our team worked very well together. We all put in a lot of effort and we each contributed our own part.

Overall, I believe the project is going very well. Our team has been working on a wall mural to bring the outdoors indoors. I think we're pretty organized with everything and with Gabe's suggestion, we decided to incorporate a paint into our mural that will detect carbon monoxide.

I feel that our team has been working very well together. We are very organized and personally every gets along really well. The project we decided upon was a stove with a built in grill that could be used inside of the home. We thought of several other options but after weighing them out, we decided that this was our best choice. We've been elaborating on the design of the oven/grill, deciding upon possible materials it can be made in, styles, and accessories. Overall, I think the project is going very well.

Personally, I feel like I've been doing a good job of contributing to the project. I've given a lot of input regarding the concept of the oven/grill such as all of the things I mentioned above. I've begun work on creating a new logo for the Coleman for the Home line that incorporates the old logo with a more "homey" feel. I think I've been doing a good job at helping to keep the project organized thus far and I'm pretty excited about it.

Well, I had missed class last week on Wednesday and came into class today to find out that our project idea had been turned down.

So, that kind of changes the content of this blog post.

In class today we developed a new idea that includes wall murals for inside the home. You could choose between perhaps 5 different photographs of different National Parks across the United States and we will even offer the use of a photograph of the consumer's own. There will be the option of added texture to these wall murals and currently we are in the process of developing a component to go with this such as radon or carbon monoxide detection that changes the color of the mural. I really like this idea and I'm excited to see where it goes.

RR06: Cradle To Cradle by McDonough

These chapters of the book really focused on making design environmentally friendly. With a little collaboration and hard work, designers came up with the awesome idea and design for Cradle To Cradle. And not just this book, but everything in design. I think it is very important to elaborate on what other designers have accomplished and to share ideas and knowledge so that in the future, design can become productively more efficient.

Why It Matters Color play such an important part in the world we live in. Everywhere we go we are exposed to different colors therefore, in design, it is very important to understand the power that color holds. Color makes a giant impact on our mood and can evoke an emotion or feeling. There are colors that promote weight loss, colors that promote eating, colors that promote the spending of money, etc. As a designer, it is crucial to understand colors and their purpose.

If you are having trouble coming up with a color scheme or you have a specific color in mind but do not know what other colors to partner it with, this will be very helpful.

I found it interesting because the different "rooms" did affect my perception of them. This is a good example to better understand color and design.

RR05: Cradle to Cradle by McDonough (Ch. 1-3)

I really thought it was interesting how the first few chapters focused a lot on the safety of design. I had no idea that many of the products I use every day could be incredibly dangerous. I think if more people were educated about this, they would pay more attention the products they are purchasing and perhaps designers would have more room to design safely.

I also like how focused they are on creating no waste product design. Although it is very unlikely that something can have "no waste" it is a really great thing to aim for.

Every day we see thousands, maybe even millions of ads without even noticing most of them. A large percent of advertising exposes to us the person that we secretly want to be and shows us that by purchasing these advertised items we can become more of that ideal person. Being exposed to so many examples of beautiful, idealistic people, even causes some consumers to choose plastic surgery so they can perfect themselves and look more like these models in the ads.
