gonna use my ramble post for today to just say that im completely against generative ai. if you show me something made with ai, i will reevaluate having you in my life. im not joking i would rather drop a 100 pound weight on my foot than use generative ai for anything. if you use ai it tells me that you dont care at all for the creative process and you need instant gratification even if the cost is doing irreparable damage to the planet we live on.

time: rare, hard to master due to how fluid time is. however, those who have access to it can essentially control life and death, by which i mean they can control the time that it takes for something to heal, can control how fast something lives and dies, etc.
length: size-based abilities, including growing, shrinking, stretching, condensing, etc.
mass: can control one's weight and matter (meaning earth, water, and air bending are on the table)
amount/volume: can greatly increase or decrease the quantity of something, so duplication and division i suppose? maybe alchemy on the table as well by manipulating ratios of ingredients? (science side of tumblr help me out here im a bit stuck)
temperature: fire and ice magic... im a simple person. i like my fire and ice magics, especially if theyre a form of the same magic ability.
electric current: on the tin; can manipulate electricity. pretty standard but not underpowered
luminous intensity: light manipulation, but also darkness manipulation. if you can control how much light is in an area, that amount can be 0.

I live in colorado, in a relatively cheap rural area. the hospital I work at is hiring a multitude of positions; the job is fine and the wages are adequate at worst and good at best. this is a trans-friendly community in a trans-friendly state. Here's some more context for the post above (a generous offer I hope some can make use of!) On Feb 23 2026 trans people in Kansas started to receive letters saying that their driver's license had to match their sex assigned at birth, and that any driver's license with an updated gender marker was not valid. Trans folks were directed to surrender their current IDs at the DMV, where they would be issued a new driver's licence that matched their sex assigned at birth. There is NO grace period to handle this ID change, so even if a trans person decided to comply and drive to the DMV the very next day, they could be caught driving without a valid license, they could face a class B misdemeanor carrying up to six months in jail and a $1,000 fine. Kansas already requires county jails to house inmates according to sex assigned at birth. (Read Erin in the Morning's piece above to see a scan of the letter and more info).
One organization seeking to help trans people leave hostile states and relocate to Colorado (which borders Kansas) is the Trans Continental Pipeline, which accepts donations:

Fascists don't want kids to learn sex education because while they say it's to prevent access to "lewd" content and "alternative lifestyles", aka other people existing that aren't cishet, in reality it helps kids prevent being assaulted.
Oh, hey, a perfect example of how right wing fearmongering about queer people and “protecting children from the Dreaded Smut” are inexorably linked.
"Sex ed protects kids from predators" is also part of the reason fascists are against it. Look at how MAGA are trying to rehabilitate Epstein and saying shit like "partying with Epstein isn't a crime!" Look at how many prominent far-right figureheads were close to Epstein in the first place, and how Epstein himself was a eugenicist. Not all predators are fascists, but all fascists are predators.
Fascists hate sex ed because it reduces their ability to prey on women and kids. The sleaze is the point.
Good time to mention that the Unitarian Universalist church has a sex education program called Our Whole Lives (OWL) and many of the resources are available for free online. The program is designed for age-appropriate discussions of bodily autonomy, gender, sexuality, sexual health, and all forms of sexual and non-sexual intimacy starting in kindergarten and continuing through to adulthood. If you or someone in your life is in need of comprehensive, compassionate sex ed it's a great place to start.

Last week the House approved a huge appropriations bill that among other things, sends another massive chunk of money to ICE. The Senate is voting on it this week.
Now is a GREAT time for you to call your Senators, especially because so many of us are at home in the midst of an epic winter storm. If their voicemails are full (I hear that is happening right now...fuck yeah), then send them an email. In fact, do both! Let's create a tsunami of concerned constituents.
I know this seems like a small thing, but it's a start. And it is one more way we can protect our neighbors. AND IT WORKS!
