I was nine; my father was dead and we’d just been conned out of all our money, and I ended up living behind a bunch of old of crates for a while with my brother before we caught the Queens Lady Plague and he died, and then I joined the Dregs and found these guys - so I totally get what you’re going through

This is probably not what you wanted, I’m sorry and this took way too long I’ve been reading shades or magic xD.

·         Kaz is absolutely the one you could go to for contraband, test answers, or any hot gossip Inej has picked up and fed back to him.

·        But you wouldn’t know that at first glance because he’s a total teacher’s pet, on excellent terms with all the staff.

·        He even calls his teachers by their first nameand comes in before and after class to help them out.

·        Which makes it conveniently not suspicious to see him hanging around their classrooms long after others have departed, evenwhen he’s picking the lock to slip in and steal answer sheets for tests.

·        Not to mention he dresses like he’s a damned lawyer.

·        He also blackmails principal Van eck, and vice principal Rollins.

·        Inej of course is his accomplice and closest thing to a friend (a little more than that but he’d never admit it)

·        She’s from Ravka and not very familiar with writing Kerch so he offers to be her tutor when she transfers to the school halfway through grade 9.

·        She has an excellent skill for listening to conversations while going completely unnoticed since she’s small and silent, and when that fails a calming demeanor that makes people want to confide in her.

·        Inej is there on scholarship and has a deathly fear of failing and dropping out so she ends up working with Kaz, and soon she’s caught up in a complicated web of lies and secrets and a bit of feelings too.

·        It’s not until grade 10 when Nina shows up, she’s preppy, flirty, and the champion dress code breaker.

·        Kaz, Inej and Jesper help her out when she’s being sexually harassed by one of the teachers who’s threatening to fail her.

·        They make sure he gets fired.

·        She kind of get’s pulled in after that, she owes them big time, and her and Inej are inseparable.

·        They end up sharing a dorm, and when they don’t have late nights out breaking the rules these two just get to do girly shit and braid each other’s hair.

·        Jesper is attending for his father, who spent an outrageous amount of money because he wants him to do well, and really believes that he will.

·        But a classroom is not Jesper’s place, it never had been.

·        Jesper just had Kaz to help him out and make him a better cheater.

·        The two boys had been well, ‘friends’ isn’t what Kaz would have called it since middle school, but Jesper had been desperately tryingto earn something more than the title of ‘acquaintance’ or ‘associate’, even ‘client’as Kaz had called him once.

·        They were always getting into trouble and breaking rules, but Kaz had gotten well he wanted to say better but the truth was he had gotten a lot worse, he was just better at hiding it.

·        Jesper feels guilty, but doing illegal and dangerous things always had a certain appeal, it got them good grades, and sometimes even money.

·        So he’d stopped questioning himself when he went out with Kaz to tag buildings, and had to wear gloves to hide the paint stains on his hands.

·        But things started to change when a new student transferred during grade 11, an anxious boy with strawberry blond curls who’d spilled his textbooks and pen’s in the hall on his first day.

·        Who’d blushed when Jesper had offered to help him pick them up, who had a gift for math and chemistry.

·        Wylan van eck, or as he’d first introduced himself, Wylan Hendriks, he didn’t want anyone to know he was the Principal’s son.

·        But he had some hidden talents, and Jesper had been shocked to see him in the library with Kaz, the two of them hunched over a computer.

·        The little ray of sunshine wasn’t quite so innocent as he seemed, Wylan had a way with technology, hacking it to be exact.

·        Kaz had been grinning like an idiot, and he’dsaid almost in disbelief, “this kid just got us Rollins’s email.”

·        From then on Wylan had been a member of their little team.

·        Last to arrive of course was Matthias, and needless to say Nina had been shocked, she had a brief fling with him at a summer camp before school had started but she had certainly not been expecting him to show up here.

·        But the proper, stubborn, resilient, blond she’d been unable to decided whether she loved or hated was now at her school.

·        No surprise to someone who knew him better, he’d landed a place on scholarship since he was incredibly studious.

·        His transfer had marked an important time when everything had started to go to hell for their little gang.

Kaz is 6′ and Inej is 4′11′ maybe 5′1″. So smol and tol ship obviously. 

Kaz actually complains about being short and Inej can not take him seriously 

She literally has to look up to scold him and it’s hard to be intimidating when you’re looking up at somone, but she manages because well she’s the wraith. 

He tries to do that thing where he holds something out of her reach but she just tackles him to the ground.

Even worse he keeps getting taller for like another 7 years and whenever Inej comes back from a long voyage she can tell and it pisses her off 

“Can you stop that!”

“What?”

“You keep getting taller its not fair”

Drunk Kaz tries to be dramatic and romantic and sweep her off her feet but she just scolds him because “Its bad for your leg Kaz”

He’s too plastered to care.

But like he’s a weak bitch and the only reason he can actually pick Inej up is because she’s so damn small.

He will absofuckinglutley hug her and rest his chin on the top of her head because its adorable but it bothers her.

Kissing (when they get to that point) is a nuisance because Inej has to like yank him down by his collar

Or she makes a habit out of sneaking into his office to wait for him and sitting on the desk so they’re at a more convenient angle for kissing

And if we’re gonna get a bit racy here she might just jump on him idk what’ll happen

Okay I’ll first rank them from tallest to shortest just in general.

Jesper, Matthias, Kaz, Nina, Wylan, Inej

I would put Jesper at about 6′4″ max he’s pretty tall but also very lanky, he’s a pretzel stick boi.

Matthias 6″2′ just slightly shorter, but probably much broader. He’s ex military so probably pretty boxy, broad shoulders etc. 

Kaz 6′ and also very lean. This is probably kinda short or averageish for a Kerch guy and low key pisses him off (I made a whole thing about this awhile ago but I have to make another post about Kanej’s height difference so I’ll address it there) But boys generally don’t stop growing till like 25 so all of the crow dudes will get taller.

Nina is 5′11″ so pretty tall and obviously very thiccc  we all know this.

Wylan is 5′9″ but is also behind in puberty so he’s got some growing to do. He’s got a lil merch pudge and no one can convince me otherwise.

I feel like I’ve seen this somewhere before. What if Kaz can play the violin? Maybe he learned to play it when he was younger, before Jordie died. His parents made him practice all the time and he got annoyed but he was actually very good at it. It’s why he had such a gift for card tricks since he was already inclined to using his hands.

None of the dregs have any idea, he’s never said anything about music, but they have to work a job at some merchants party, and Kaz says they’ll pose as members of the entertainment. He says that he and Wylan will be band members since they can play instruments. They’re all just so confused because Kaz Brekker does not do music. 

They don’t believe him at first, and ask him what he plays and he says, “Violin, It has been a few years though I’ll need to practice.”

The dregs are all still skeptical but he finds one to practice with. He’s a bit rusty at first, but they’re surprised because he’s actually incredible at it. No one dares disturb him because he’s so incredibly focused. But when he stops they all look at him in complete disbelief.

“I have known many High Lords,” Amren continued, studying her paper. “Cruel ones, cunning ones, weak ones, powerful ones. But never one that dreamed. Not as he does.” “Dreams of what?” I breathed. “Of peace. Of freedom. Of a world united, a world thriving. Of something better—for all of us.” “He thinks he’ll be remembered as the villain in the story.” She snorted. “But I forgot to tell him,” I said quietly, opening the door, “that the villain is usually the person who locks up the maiden and throws away the key.”

“Oh?” I shrugged. “He was the one who let me out.“

A Court of Mist and Fury

Guys, this is the kind of stuff I love in books. Soak it up, take it home. Don’t be with someone who locks you up, who doesn’t believe in you, who tries to control you. Tamlin messed up–he loved Feyre, yes, but he loved her wrong. He was selfish and abusive and we have to see those warning signs.

Rhys is not perfect, but he believed in Feyre. He gave her space, he let her grow, and he let her be exactly who she was. He didn’t try to protect her from the world, he encouraged her to go out into it all the while helping to prepare her for whatever may be thrown her way by training her.

Wow. Let’s reset our standards. If we stop letting our significant others treat us poorly, then it won’t work anymore–and one person at a time we can stand against the casual acceptance of abuse that is tearing people apart everywhere.
