Homewrecked || Laya x Oliver
oliver-dashâ:
âShe seemed to do pretty good.â He reported, laying his bag down and kicking off his shoes, reaching down to pick them up. âHate these damn things.â He looked back at his wife. âSweet girl, real young. Woulda though she was a student if I hadnât known who she was. Told my boys on the team to make sure no body tries taken advantage of her.â
Laya smiled as she watched him, âThatâs really sweet of you to have them do that for her. I remember how difficult it was for you when you first started and you were still so young. I canât remember, did you have anyone looking out for you?â
Oliver gave a soft chuckle. âYeah, yeah, I had Luisa on one side, remember? Brought me cookies every day for the first month. And Serena before she became the principal - sheâd always check in. But it wasnât so much an issue for me, ya know? 6â6 ex-marine amputee - ainât nobody fuckinâ with that. They do now that they know Iâm a fuckinâ pushover.â He shrugged. âThis is a fresh outta college girl whoâs⌠I donât know, 5â2? 100 pounds wet? My boys wonât do nothinâ, but not all the kids at that school are as good as them.â

Aidan hadnât been expecting Lucas to fight back, to say anything, and another hot flash of rage flew through him. Lifting his hands, Aidan shoved him hard in the chest, nearly sending him to the ground. âYou.â He spat at him. âYouâre my fucking problem.â
Lucas groaned, then growled in response to his shove. He was getting tired of his brother always picking on him and giving him a hard time. Was he this mad that Daniel chose them over him!? He shoved him back, âI could say the same thing about you!!âÂ
Taking a stumbling step back, Aidan gave a low, angry growl, baring his teeth and, without thinking, swung his fist, catching his brother in the jaw.
Oliver had been walking past the lunchroom when he noticed the strange quiet, the fact that there was an audience gathering. He worked at a high school - he knew what that meant. But he wasnât expecting to see his own boys, Aidan swinging a fist and catching his brother in the jaw.
âHEY!â He boomed, storming toward them, and immediate path opening for the behemoth blonde.
Aidan paused for a moment, even in his rage knowing that that tone in his usually calm fatherâs voice was nothing good.
âBoth of you. In my classroom. Now.â He ordered, pulling Lucas to his feet and ushering them both toward the side door.

Oliver moved, winding his arms around her and pulling her close. He didnât know what to say to help, what could make this better right now - the previous night had been a lot for both of them.
He kissed her forehead, hugging her tightly. âI love you, darlinâ. Please try to relax today, okay?â
â-
Aidan normally didnât participate in his âfriendsâ antics. He let them happen, sure. But he just stood to the side, didnât intervene, didnât stop them.
But today, being in the packed hallways did nothing to quell the rage burning hot in his chest and stomach, the blond shoving past his classmates, sneering at anyone who tried so much as a word in his direction.
In the lunchroom, he nearly ran into someone, pausing when he realized it was his brother. He reacted immediately, slamming his lunch tray out of his hands, not to the ground, but on to him, food splattering his face and clothes.
âBack the fuck up.â He had snapped at him, not so much as glancing to his right where Daniel stood, head hung, eyes red rimmed.
Lucas could tell how much Aidan had changed, how miserable Daniel was. He was sure in himself that they werenât soulmates. They couldnât be. Aidan wasnât good for DanielâŚright?Â
As they were at lunch, he noticed how Daniel didnât really get much, the boy completely miserable. He sighed, but was determined that he would get over it.Â
He groaned as he ran into Aidan, âHey!â he shouted when the food was shoved onto him. âWhat the fuck is your problem!?â

Oliver was torn, wanting to March out after Aidan, seaman he apologize to his mother, to figure out what was going on with him and Lucas, why he was behaving this way.
But then he kept picturing his son crumpled in his motherâs arms, sobbing and pleading and the man just dropped his face into his hands, trying to puzzle this together.
Heâd made an attempt, but he couldnât claim to completely understand their magic. He didnât know what removing memories of someone would cause, especially their soulmate after being rejected.
Standing, he went to the bathroom and gently knocked on the door. âLaya, baby, can you open the door for me?â He asked softly, knowing precisely whyâd sheâd gone in here. âIâm gonna have ta leave soon, but I⌠Iâll try to talk to Aidan. I promise.â
Laya whimpers softly, taking a deep exhale as she moved to the door and opened it, looking up at him with her brow furrowed. âOkay. I love you andâŚI hope you have a good day.âÂ

Aidan didnât look away from his brother who, now, didnât seem like he could quite meet his gaze.
Did something happen yesterday? His dad said heâd fallen, his mom said heâd knocked himself out. Did he knock something out of himself, forget some altercation that had happened between them?
âHeâs the one fucking staring at me.â He spat, stabbing at his breakfast, anger still plain.
âHey. Now thatâs enough.â Oliver said, voice firm. âIt ainât even late enough in the day for somethinâ to have happened between yâall. And donât curse at your momma.â
Aidan rolled his eyes, still stabbing at his breakfast but making no moves to lift the food to his lips. âRight, forgot. Canât say anything to baby Lucas. Heâs everybodyâs favorite.â Saying that cut into him for some reason, feeling like it had reopened a fresh wound. The blond clenched his teeth, the pain in his chest throbbing, but he didnât say anything else. But he didnât notice as Lucas looked from him to his parents, looking worried, like he was hiding something.
âThatâs enough, now. I mean it.â Oliver stated again, clearly agitated with his sonâs behavior.
Without another word, Aidan stood, taking his bag and throwing it over his shoulder. âThanks for breakfast.â He muttered before storming out the front door, leaving his plate untouched.
Laya couldnât help but feel pain as Aidan just seemed to angry at everyone. He wasnât even being nice to Oliver like he used to be.Â
She tried her best not to cry in front of her boys, but she was quick to excuse herself from the table to go to the bedroom as Aidan left.Â
Clasping a hand around her mouth the tears fell as she sobbed silently, doing her best not to alert Lucas. Was what she done the right thing? He was alive but so, so angry.Â

Oliver didnât hesitate to move, winding his arms tightly around his wife, pulling her to his chest. âHeâs breathinâ. I donât give a fuck what you had to do - heâs breathinâ. Weâll figure it out.â He knew neither of them could have handled losing their child, not at all, but especially not like this, not heartbroken and in such terrible pain. Ridding him of his memories wasnât something Oliver felt good about, but his lungs were working and his heart was beating and he didnât have to bury another child.
Hearing the front door open, Oliver paused as he looked over, seeing Lucas frozen, his hand still on the doorknob.
Did he know? Surely not. The boys didnât get along, but Lucas knew that being rejected would condemn his brother to death.
He couldnât say anything right now either. If he didnât know, he would out his other son. If he did know⌠Oliver didnât know how he would handle that knowledge.
âWeâll figure it out.â He repeated to his wife, voice soft, kissing the top of her head.
â
The next morning as Aidan showered, dressed, got ready for school, he couldnât shake this ache in his chest and it was driving him crazy. He wasnât used to lingering pain, to anything but that first blast before his powers worked to heal him instantly.
But even beneath that, there was an anger he couldnât place either. But it was there, burning and hot and waiting to strike out. Heâd always had a temper, sure, even if he tried not to. But this was different. This was almost overwhelming. And there was no reason for it.
Walking downstairs with his school bag, Aidan ignored the pairs of eyes on him as he plopped into his seat at the breakfast table, digging into the meal before him. Looking up, he noticed the way Lucas was watching him, almost hesitant, like he was waiting for him to erupt.
The sight of his brother alone was enough to make that fire burn hotter, the rage growing wild under his ribs, but he bit it back, only giving him a sneer. âWhat the hell are you looking at me like that for?â He snapped at him, clearly surprising everyone else at the table.
Laya held onto her husband for support, crying silently into his shoulder and he held her close. This was too much for her and their baby right now. She had to get it together.Â
â
Laya had finished up making breakfast in the morning, doing her best to stop that dull ache that she could feel in her son, chosing to shield herself from it the best she could.Â
She watched as he came down and sat, seeming a bit like himself but something feltâŚ.off. The memories of Daniel were gone now so what would happen now?Â
She took a sip of her juice, practically choking on it at Aidanâs words. âAidan! I know you two donât get along but wasnât that a little harsh!?âÂ
Aidan didnât look away from his brother who, now, didnât seem like he could quite meet his gaze.
