hello! (= do you know where the average player can find a tutorial on how to create a stand still in cas mod (ideally with preexisting poses if possible - solely for personal use)? i for the life of me cannot find anywhere that mentions how they're made

I'm not aware of a tutorial. But you can probably figure it out by opening such a mod and studying the files in S4S. As far as I know there are two options. Either you edit the clips (overriding all of the relevant animations with your own poses, might be the easiest but tedious since there will be quite a lot of files to override). Or you go ahead and edit the CAS ASM (ASM = animation state machine, this is a type of file that manages animations). Latter is more advanced but likely you will only need to create and reference one file (per age group) with your pose. For both options you can find examples of existing mods.

There's a version of Shorters Teens made by the creator Down-In-Simsland, which updates the height of teen Sims in your save file when they spawn in the world. I was wanting to use this mod with "Adjusted Thumbnails for the Household Panel" and I'd like to know if there's any chance these mods are compatible.

There shouldn't be any conflict since all my mod does is changing the camera settings for thumbnails. I can't say if the settings will fit this shorters teen mod but you can try it out and see if it fits or at least helps a little bit. It should work ok as long as the height differences stay in a smaller range. Feel free to also experiment with the settings yourself.

CAS Mod - No Make-Up & No Accessories on Randomized Sims

This mod disables make-up and accessories (incl. tattoos and hats) when randomizing a sim in CAS. As a bonus, from my understanding & testing, the same game mechanic is then also applied for any randomly generated townies in-game (not including NPC outfits).

As someone who spends countless hours in CAS and gets quickly frustrated with randomized townie outfits, I felt like this could be useful 😃

You can use this mod simultaneously with my presets mod for randomized sims.

I looooove your styled cas add-on! Have you ever considered doing the same with kits?

Thank you! Are you asking about the custom styled looks or about the undress sim add on? For undress sim there is nothing to add, it should work as it is. It depends though on MizoreYukiis mod which hides EAs Styled looks, so it can show up as first option in CAS. If there are new kits that MizoreYukiis mod hasn't been updated for, the looks from the kits might show up first instead. If you're asking about the custom Styled Looks, I thought about it but I don't plan to add any new looks for packs or kits. It's a lot of tedious work and only very few people that would be interested or able to use them. I also generally consider myself retired from playing the game and creating content for it, aside from upkeeping my mods if needed.

Hi everyone, I haven't been posting on tumblr lately because I have been sick and also working on a lot of stuff - like learning python and making my spreadsheets better but I felt this was important to post.

It has come to my attention that wcif.cc - that new search engine that popped up for finding sims 4 cc - has stolen their directory of creators straight from my creator spreadsheets. It's my hard work that I put countless hours into creating and updating and I had months of work that was ready to be put out this month, but I've been set back by this because now I have to take measures to protect my work from people like that who rely on webscraping to do their dirty work.

Yes, I may be old school in pouring in the labor - but it's the best way I know to make sure the information is detailed and accurate. And for someone to just scrape that information without any credit or recognition is seriously infuriating.

The evidence is pretty clear to anyone who has seen my spreadsheets, but for comparison here are examples:

No one else has detailed creators lists like me, and I know this because I put in the work and have looked at countless mod and creator recommendation lists by many, many other people. What inspired me to make my lists was actually the cc notion list from sunny's resources - their was was outdated and had a lot of creators that are no longer making content, so I decided to make my own.

If wcif.cc had actually reached out to me for a collaboration or even given me credit, it would be a different story but they decided to just use webscraping and steal all of my hard work instead.

I put in the work to check out every single creator on my lists, I have look through all of their content and do the math to figure out their early access times, especially if the times are not stated clearly. I look through each and every creator to see what type of content they make in order to even put together the specialties columns. I use my own pattern recognition from my brain to see not only who the popular creators are but who the underrated and new creators are so they can hopefully get some visits to their pages because they deserve for their hard work to be seen. This is all done WITHOUT chapgpt or AI of any kind, because I refuse to contribute to harming the environment and real people for something like sims content.

If you care about integrity and honesty then please stop using or supporting their janky ass search engine and I hope you'll instead support me when my own website with my own searchable and filterable creator lists goes live and beyond my spreadsheets.

is there any chance you would consider updating your circle of life gallery pose so the baby is replaced with the infant life stage?? i absolutely love that pose but id rather show my sim as an infant now that we have them. totally ok if not!

Actually that's a good idea so I had a look if it's doable. Luckily it is, so I added an option for infants now :-) (It's the same pose file which you can now use with babies as well as infants.)

Hi again! I figured out the issue with the vitiligo showing up on the custom styled looks. I figured I'd share it because maybe someone else would find it helpful! This also applies to top surgery scars and possibly all other scars/recently added body details.

Basically, you finish the styled look like normal. Preview the look in game to get the thumbnails. Then, export those thumbnails so you have them saved.

Go back into S4S. In each "sim info" file, go to outfits and edit items as if you are disabling hair/makeup/accessory override. The bottom says "PartDataList". Edit that. Scroll down where it has anything pertaining to vitiligo, top surgery scars, etc. and delete them. Do this for every outfit category.

Import the generated thumbnail from localthumbcache so that the thumbnail has the skin details, but it will not be added to the sim in game.

And that's how you do it! It took a lot of messing around lol but now I can use my sims with scars and vitiligo for my models!

Hi! I removed the CAS Preset Selector and the no makeup mod, but I'm still getting premade sims in CAS from the preset selector mod. Is there a way to fix? I removed all parts of both mods.

Hi there, not sure if I understand correctly but it seems you have another mod installed since neither of these mods override the premade sims in CAS, if you mean the sims that appear when you first enter CAS. I do have a different mod with custom starting sims for CAS overriding the CAS premades, and there are other creators who shared such mods as well, so you might wanna check for those.

Other than that, the generic advice is, remove everything from your mods folder, then do a 50:50.

Hi! Do you think you could make a tutorial on how to make a custom thumbnail pose for custom styled looks? And I have an issue with the game’s vitiligo showing up on styled looks as if skin details are enabled, but other skin details don’t show up!

Hi hi,

For the pose, the process is the same as for any pose override, so you can look up a tutorial for CAS trait poses, for example, to get most of what you need to know. The only thing you need to know in addition is the name of the pose that is used with your styled look, to find it in S4S. This info is stored in the styled look file itself, see example below.

Then after creating your pose override, load the game, let the game create a thumbnail from it, add the thumbnail to your Custom styled look package, after that you can remove the pose override and the thumbnail with the custom pose will stay put. The other issue, I wouldn't know as I haven't created custom styled looks for a long time and back then we didn't have the vitiligo skin details. You can see if you can find a flag that doesn't have this issue (> is there any example with EAs styled looks?). I did some testing a while ago (see overview below), not sure if anything has changed since then or if any new flags exist now. I use the sim info flag 000004100FFFFDE2 for uniforms/costumes btw. so that make up is not applied.

But knowing EA maybe they didn't set up vitiligo as a 'genetic' feature or didn't update the flags properly so there's no way to disable it. Then the only thing you can do is not use it on your sim model. A somewhat extra tedious workaround would be adding the vitiligo to your sim model only when creating the custom thumbnails but remove it when creating the actual look.

Hi there, the mod is working on my side.

Make sure mods and CC are enabled after the patch, then, for testing purposes, remove everything from your mods folder (mods + CC) except for Undress Sim + MizoreYukis mod to disable EA looks, test if the issue still appears. If it doesn't, there is probably a conflicting mod or piece of cc in your mods folder.

Examples of conflicting mods/CC are overrides that disable or hide CAS items, like no eye lashes mods. If the sim model I used for the styled looks has these CAS items on them (even when they are not applied with the look), blocking these items will also block the look.

Crash report for "Custom Starting Sims for CAS (Tutorial & Mod)". Hello, I used this tutorial about six months ago and everything worked fine. I decide to do it again now and game is crash now with new edit files, old files work fine. Can you take a look at it? Thank you.

Hi there, this sounds like a current Sims 4 Studio issue with Sim Info files/how they are exported.

Someone already reported it in a different context to Andrew and it should be fixed in the next S4S version.

According to Andrew, if you want to fix your package before that, you can do so by setting the EBN1 value to 3 on each outfit in the Sim Info.

I haven't tried it but the person who reported the issue told me it works.
