Zain was the only member of the group asked to change his name. He was the only person of color. He was the only culturally non-Christian (whether they practiced or not). He was an introvert in a band of outgoing people. No matter how much the other boys love him, he must have felt lonely a lot. I’d want to go home to my family too.

Thank you Zayn Malik for bringing culture to One Direction. Thank you for showing young fans how to be proud of who they are and where they come from. Thank you for being strong when there was hate. Thank you for allowing us to see your goofy side and your caring side. Thank you for appreciating the art your fans spent days drawing and for constantly helping young artists self esteem.
