a big ole stick. it lies across their legs as they lay there in the hammock tied between two palm trees. lara pushes the stick into the sand when the swinging the hammock loses momentum. otherwise, charlie and her are swinging in the beautiful hawaii breeze and looking up clear beautiful water. “maybe it can be arranged. maybe.” two freinds shoulder to shoulder and hip to hip in a hammock. talking and soaking up the sun? --besides lara’s jacket--did it get better than that? no. “i’ve missed you.”

“something with food probably.”  more like wrapped up in the arms of a certain woman with dark hair and perfect skin. and a broken heart at lara’s hands.

“so you’re suggesting we make out little sinful trip down there right? i say we leave our phones here and just see where the night takes us.”

lara lays there quietly for a moment as her back is to gabe. there is a deadly silence. it was irony. in one swift moment she jerks the rest of the blankets. they slip out from where they were tucked in beneath the mattress. a zip sound can be heard. she now has the entire comforter and is wrapped up like a burrito. “fucker.”
