Okay, fair warning, Iâve introduced a lot more characters into this chapter, but I really hope it wonât be too farfetched to understand. As people seem to like this, I will hopefully be posting every week now. Weâll see where this story takes me, and I hope you can all come on this journey too.Â
Part 1 | Part 2
Genre [Rating]: Angst (Mature)
Pairing: Baekhyun x Reader
Length: 3.4k
âSo⌠run me through this whole story again please?â your dad asked you for the third time. I mean, you couldnât blame him, all of this had just happened within the space of whatâŚan hour?
âLong story short, the two men that are thrashing around in your cell right now are intruders who tried to steal your diamonds from you. We caught them... well I didnât do anything, Y/N caught them singlehandedly. I just helped knock them out and drag them into the cell. So, she deserves all the praiseâ
Your father looked at you with a doubtful gaze, but it softened as he breathed in, probably thinking about the whole scenario that the two kids in front of him had just explained. You also made a mental note to thank Yixing for putting in a good word for you. He could have let your father think that he did everything, and taken the credit, but you knew he wanted the best for you. He knew how much you had trained, and he knew that your dad was stalling your missions. Therefore, he wanted your dad to to know when to let you go, and give you your chance to prove your worth as a true member of SM.
âI think we should go down and question themâ you spoke after a long period of silence, seeing that your father was still in a state of deliberation. âIf they came straight here, they know about our location, which means itâs highly likely they know about usâ. From the corner of your eye, you saw Yixing nod in agreement as you both waited for the judgement of your father.
âIâll call Luhan, Kris and Jongdae in to help you guys out, you might need some extra help down thereâ your father finally said.
You sternly shook your head at that idea. âIf we call more people, theyâll become intimidated by our number. Then, they are likely to not even tell us anything. They will also see how many members we have within SM, and we donât want to give easy hints like that away. Theyâve already seen Yixing and I, so have probably started concocting ways of getting themselves out and defeating us with our weak areas. We donât need any more members being involved in this for the moment.â
Your father looked at you with what seemed like an element of surprise glinting in his eyes, but before you could try to read him, he looked away abruptly and mumbled out his thoughts.
âHmmm⌠off you go thenâŚâ It took you a while to realize he had actually given you permission to leave and had agreed with your idea. It was Yixing who finally pulled you out of your trance.
âY/NâŚY/N!!!â he tugged on your hand. âCome on, letâs go!â
The both of you walked out of your fatherâs office and walked down the dimly lit corridor into the armory to pick up some blades. Although Yixing had stripped the two males of all visible weapons, you wanted to be sure, just in case they were secretly armed. You thanked Yixing for the earlier interjection and how he praised you, but he simply smiled and brushed it off like it was nothing, before leading you out of the armory and into another room. Yixing closed the door behind him. The interior of the room was painted a blood red and within it, there was a large steel door with a secure lock and fingerprint recognition. You were just about to place your finger on the sensitive touch screen when Yixing stopped you.
âUnfortunately, this is the one place that youâre not authorized to open yet. It will not recognize your fingerprint, and you will trigger the alarm.â You stopped and looked in awe at Yixing, trying to get your head around what he was telling you.
âHuh? You mean to say to meâŚ. that my father doesnât trust me enough to oversee the prison cell?â You questioned Yixing in a slightly ruder tone than you were planning. He looked slightly upset, but nevertheless, he continued.
âNo, he just didnât want you accidentally seeing some of the people, or things, that we kept down there.â He paused waiting for you to say something, but when you didnât, he continued. âWhen you first came here, you were quite young, and he didnât want you stumbling into places that would possibly scar you or make you afraid of the life that you would inevitably have to pursue in the future. Iâm only telling you this now because I feel like youâre mature enough to handle it, but it was for your own safety Y/Nâ
With the revelation of what Yixing just told you, your mind flashed back to the first time you ever found out about this world.
~ Flashback ~
âDaddy, I donât want to stay at home on my own today, I want to come to work with you. Iâm alone and I have no one to play with.â Â You sulked as your father opened the front door.
After your mum had gone, you spent weekends next door at Taoâs family house whilst your dad went to work. Weekdays after school, you would stay and do your homework with friends. Then, you would walk home and wait for your father, who would return after a few hours. However, on weekends, all you seemed to do was spend the entire day watching your 18-year-old videogame obsessed neighbor, stare at his screen for 12 hours straight. 11-year-old girls were supposed to be having fun and playing with their parents, but clearly, that wasnât you. Tao and his family had gone on holiday this week, so you would have to spend the weekend home alone.
âNo Y/N, my work is too dangerous, and there are funny people there. You wonât like it one bitâ
âPleaseeeeeeâ you cried even harder, knowing that you would have to spend the whole day on your own doing schoolwork and watching TV before your dad came back in the evening.
You saw your dad sigh and finally give in. âFine Y/N, but you listen to me okay?â His voice became serious. âYou stay in my office, you listen to me, and you do not do anything that someone else tells you to do. You do not leave my office without my permission, and you are not allowed to go anywhere on your own. Is that understood?â
You smiled, wiped you tears and nodded your head as hard and fast as you could.
When you arrived at the big building, your mouth stayed agape, millions of questions running through your mind. However, the most prominent;
âDaddy, you work at a furniture shop? Whatâs so dangerous about that?âÂ
You could see your dad sigh as he chose to ignore you and kept pulling you inside. He took you right to the back of the shop, up the stairs to the third floor, and stood in front of a big door. He punched in a code and placed his finger on the scanner, and the door opened. You let out a small âwowâ before entering the large, almost warehouse type dĂŠcor in front of you. He dragged you into his office and closed the door behind you. Before the door even touched the doorframe, you started spewing questions right, left and center, but your dad ignored every one of them until you shut up. From then on, you just accepted the fact that your dad was a cold, reserved man.
~ End of flashback ~
You broke out from your thought chain as you finally realized what your dad had been doing for all these years after your mum died. He had been trying to protect you from this world. He had been trying to steer you away from getting caught up in all this mafia business. He had kept his cold, expressionless demeanor up for 7 years to deter you away from this reality that you so desperately wanted to get yourself involved in. Within those years, you had found out the reason your mother died, the real job your father did and the fact that you wanted to be a part of everything too. You had seen one by one, the new agents training and going on their first missions, wanting to follow in their footsteps and be just like them. He had tried to hold you back from missions and deter you away from everything until he could no longer keep it a separate part of your life. He had eventually given you the job on your 18th birthday, after your continuous pestering, and allowed you to decide yourself. Everything had finally snapped into place with the one explanation Yixing gave you.Â
Your father had tried to prevent your fate ending up like your mothers. But you had already made your mind up
You were doing this for her.
âAre you ready?â Yixing asked, with a slight sternness to his voice.
âAlwaysâ you replied, confidence taking over your body.
âWhere are they? They should be here by now! Theyâve been gone for more than 4 hours Chanyeol. Arenât you even the slightest bit worried? Iâve tried to call them multiple times, but both of their phones go straight to voicemail, I knew that they couldnât do this. Ugh, I knew they would screw it up. I told you to let me handle this myse - â
âCan you shut up and let me think for 2 seconds Junmyeon!?â The latter shut his mouth upon seeing his boss raise his voice a little. He sat back down in his chair, hands to his sides, posture open, head facing the window behind Chanyeol as he spoke again. âThey must have got caught up with something on the way, or had trouble finding where they had to go. Letâs not jump to any conclusions right at this moment okay? Iâve told them to call us as soon as they finish their mission, so they know what theyâre doing.â
Junmyeon scoffed with a stifled laugh as he got up to leave the room. Just as he was about to exit, his boss called his name. Junmyeon spun around to meet him in the eyes, noting how his expression had changed to dark and unwaveringly sincere. Â
âWhat?â his reply was dry and solid. Â
âYou can drop the little façade now Junmyeon. I know you wanted this mission, and you donât really care about their safety. I know how much you want to get revenge, but this is not the way you should be going about trying to attain it.â
Junmyeon let out an icy laugh and made sure that Chanyeol could hear the spitefulness in his voice. âYou? Park Chanyeol? Out of all people, youâre out here telling me how to, and how not to get revenge? For one second, if I had not known you since the day I met you, I would have almost believed you.â He laughed sarcastically and then changed back to his cold tone of speech. âYou just wait and watch what I do to obtain my revenge. No one will ever see what was coming for them. Just wait and watchâŚ.â And with those final words he left the small room and slammed the door shut behind him.
Yixing opened the door and walked through the entrance with you following carefully behind him. You could hear chains in the distance, signaling that your captees were still inside, suffering in the absolute boredom and dinginess of the cell. As you made your way down the descending narrow corridor, you tried to start phrasing questions in your head, but to no avail. Everything had turned to mush, and your confidence had plummeted. You gave up and decided to go with the flow once you were facing your prisoners. The narrow length wound and descended even steeper as you treaded down, making sure you didnât step too quickly and fall over your own feet. You still couldnât manage to figure out how all of this was able to fit in a furniture store, but you assumed this long descent lead you into a basement of some sort. You werenât going to spend your energy thinking about that though, because as soon as you snapped out of your thought process, the corridor began to widen, and you found yourself entering the nearest cell. There, you saw the two men, facial features clearly visible now, sitting arms chained, behind their backs, to the wall behind.
You looked the first one on your left up and down, observing his features closely. He was quite dark skinned; his face was very slim with a prominent jawline. His thick lips cast a shadow beneath them on his chin and his cheekbones were somewhat hollow. He had his hair parted in the middle in a dark shade of red. He was quite toned, with long legs and wore a fitted white short sleeved t-shirt. You then noticed the other on the right, whoâs head was slightly below the normal level. However, as soon as you looked over to him, he moved his eyes up instantly connecting with yours. His intense gaze locked on you, and for a second it felt like everything outside you had been stripped, like he was looking deep into your very core. It made you feel guilt and remorse, but also a burning passion. You were the first to break contact and examine every inch of his body. He had milky white skin and his hair was undone in a shade of charcoal, falling over his forehead in a slight messy look. As you travelled down his body, you could see his shoulders were considerably wider than the male on the left and his chest looked rock solid. He was wearing a tightly fitted black short sleeved top, and his arms were bare. His legs were short but were made up by his torso. You decided you needed to stop ogling and speak before the they managed to find a way around you. As you opened your mouth to speak, you looked up and saw his eyes still fixed onto yours. You didnât know why, and was the last thing you wanted to admit, but it made you feel extremely weak, like you had no power. It was a feeling you absolutely hated. Weakness had no definition by your standards, and you had no intention of changing that. You swallowed instinctively and gathered the courage to speak again.
âHow did you know where we were?â you demanded, fixing your stance and projecting your voice. Since no reply came from either of them, you cleared your throat and tried again. Â
âYou clearly knew what you were looking for and you clearly knew where to find it. So, you clearly know who we are and what we do⌠How?â
You waited for a response, but you didnât get one. You looked at Yixing, and he nodded. You cocked your head to the side slightly and plastered a smirk onto your face. This was you. This was who you really were. Â
âOkay, if you wonât talkâŚâ you pulled out the knife that you had picked up on the way to the cell âI guess you need a little⌠motivationâ you teased, as your smirk took up the rest of your face. You started moving threateningly close to the male on the right and you could see his eyes still locked to yours. So, you grabbed the bull by its horns, and rode it with all control. You stared back at him intensely as you made your way slowly behind him leaning in ever so close to the back of his neck. Your body moved closer until it was pressed right against the back of his chair, face almost touching his. You leaned in closer from behind, bringing you face nearer to his ears and whispered,
âIs this enough motivation?â as you lifted your knife, angled and poised, and placed it on the bare white skin of his neck.
You felt him gulp, but he held himself strong.
You had come onto the wrong guy. He would keep his mouth shut until he was dead. Without shifting position, you quickly glanced over to other male examining every single detail up close.
Beads of sweat on his forehead â he was anxious. A tight clenched jaw â he was retaining his anxiousness to prevent it from showing on his face. Jugular vein prominent â heavy blood flow, signifying a fast heart rate, meaning he was nervous. His face had drained in color. You knew it from the first glance. He was scared. No matter how hard he tried to cover it, fear was radiating from his face, and you noticed instantly. You returned your gaze to your target and applied pressure to your blade. He winced in agony and rattled his chains as blood started to trickle down his neck and fell in drops on the floor. The other male snapped his head in your direction and then to the blood on the floor before screaming
âLet Baekhyun go, you bitch!â.
âOr what?â you replied, smirking and pressing the knife deeper into his neck. You felt the male squirm relentlessly in your firm grasp like a worm being used as bait. Blood was now oozing in a slow stream down his neck, puddling around your feet on the floor. Â
âUGH LET HIM GO AND IâLL TALK.â He roared, face red and anger seething. âIâLL TELL YOU EVERYTHING, JUST DONâT KILL HIMâ
You relieved the pressure off the blade and wiped off the blood on the knife on your tank top. You tightly pressed your hand on the gash, stopping the blood flow whilst turning to face the guy who had just shouted at you.
âSeriously though. You didnât have to shout.â
Junmyeon stormed into his room. He looked at his clock.
14:00.
It had almost been 6 hours since Baekhyun and Jongin had left base, and all he could think about now, was how much trouble everyone would get into with the leader, because of them. He paced back and forth around the room thinking about what he needed to do. His mind flashed back to the conversation with Chanyeol, and how he told him he would get his revenge. Instinctively, he put on his shoes and sneaked out of his room. If he wanted to get anything done right around here, and save his ass from any trouble, he would have to do it himself. He walked down the hallway and made sure to check behind to see if anyone was following before he turned and headed for the exit. He made a phone call once he had left the building.
âYes⌠Yes⌠I have the address with me right now. Iâm on my way.â He clambered into his car, shifted it into gear, and drove off.
Half an hour later, he pulled up outside an old house in the middle of the urban city fringe. He checked the address was correct and slowly climbed out of his car. He pushed open the dilapidated gate as it screeched on its rusted iron hinges. Walking down the gravel, he saw something move in the edge of his vision. He stopped dead in his tracks as he turned and saw a black cat scamper through the overgrown lawn. He let out his breath and continued walking up the pathway to the door. He walked up the steps and went to knock on the door, but as his fist collided once, the door let way and swung in. He hesitated momentarily before taking a step inside.
âHello?â he shouted, waiting for an answer. When he got none, he continued. âIâm here as per your request. My name is Kim Junmyeon⌠um, we spoke on the phone?â
As soon as he had finished that sentence, the door slammed shut behind him, making his skeleton jump out of his skin. He turned to look back and saw a tall glamorous woman standing proudly in front of him. She wore a tight black jumpsuit which showed off all her curves in the right places. Her boots stretched up to her calf and her hair was slicked back into a French plait. Her face was prominent, like she had a powerful aura to her appearance, and her posture was perfect, vertical and upright. She wore dark red lipstick and her skin was like porcelain. She was undoubtedly beautiful, and when she smiled, Junmyeon had to remind himself to stay alert, otherwise he was at risk of danger.
âJunmyeon my boyâ she started sweetly, âis that really the way you should be greeting your mafia leader?.â
Yay. The second part is already out! What did you guys think of this chapter? Iâm open to suggestions and theories of plots! I want to see what all your creative minds can think of.Â
