My name is Carol Danvers. Ever since I was a little kid, I didn’t fit in. See, I always wanted to fly, and not just in the sky. Nobody believed in me, so I took matters into my own hands. I joined the Air Force, and after years of working and training I finally touched the sky. But I wanted to go higher, farther, faster, and finally… Beyond. 

What Made Me Smile This Week:

Monday 12/24: Hannah’s family celebrates the Polish Christmas tradition of Wigilia, which happens on Christmas Eve. In celebrating Wigilia with her family these past two years, I’ve learned that the tradition places a heavy emphasis on thankfulness and togetherness. One custom that I really dig is the setting of an extra table place for the “unexpected guest.” Basically, an extra plate and silverware are put out as a symbolic gesture for any stranger who might be in need of a meal that night. I love that! It made me smile, as did the mashed potatoes.

Tuesday 12/25: Pulled pork, smothered in Memphis barbecue sauce made me smile today. Mike and Melanie, you are heroes.

Wednesday 12/26: We got some greatly relieving news today! Hannah has recently been seeing several doctors about a concerning lump on her neck. If you’ve ever waited for a diagnosis, you know how stressful and taxing that waiting period can be. Today, her doctor concluded that the lump is benign(!!!) and no further actions need to be taken. This report made both of us smile!

Thursday 12/27: It was potentially going to snow a million inches last night, which would complicate our plan to leave for Pennsylvania this morning, but only a few slushy inches fell in Minneapolis, so we are on our way! Going to see my family for New Years makes me smile.

Friday 12/28: Hotel scrambled eggs—as gross as they are—make me smile.

Saturday 12/29: Hello Bethlehem! Hannah and I arrived this evening after two and a half days on the road. My cats still don’t like me. Playing board games and catching up with my family made me smile tonight.

Sunday 12/30: I am a 26-year-old man and I’m not ashamed to admit my biggest smile today was during the giant hug from my Nana after not seeing her for six months. Love you, Nanners!

No spiritual time-serving. I would like every hour of my life to be new, though connected to the ones that have passed. No day of celebration with its mandatory collective rhythms, to share with all the strangers I don’t care about. Because our grandfathers’ grandfathers, and so on, celebrated, we too should feel the urge to celebrate. That is nauseating.

I await socialism for this reason too. Because it will hurl into the trash all of these dates which have no resonance in our spirit and, if it creates others, they will at least be our own, and not the ones we have to accept without reservations from our silly ancestors.”

dear tumblr friends…

to say that i’m “disappointed” by the recent puritan tumblr crack-down on nudity is an understatement. i’m crushed. for many years, while twitter, facebook, instragram and patreon became more and more tight-wound, i always found tumblr a safe haven to post my free & joyful naked art and photos. 

i don’t know what kind of world we are coming to - in 2018 - when the naked female body really causes so much distress because people are so afraid of the power it represents.

i was so, so, so excited to post my non-censored album cover here today.

i’ve been working on this album, which is titled THERE WILL BE NO INTERMISSION - for six years, and the album cover, which is full frontal, wasn’t chosen randomly. i knew i’d have to censor it in certain places.

since my last album came out in 2012 (that was “theatre is evil”, my infamous kickstarter record), i’ve been through a lot. i did a TED talk, i wrote a best-selling boo, i had an abortion, i had a son, i moved to the woods, i lost my very best friend to cancer, i had a miscarriage on christmas day shortly after, i watched trump march into the white house, and then i watched brett kavanaugh march into the supreme court.

but all this time, women were marching. louder and louder. i watched women all over the globe light fires in one another’s hearts and brains. i watched women step up and bravely, shamelessly, graphically tell their truths. 

THIS IS WHAT IS HAPPENING RIGHT NOW.

when women are brave and shameless, we are unstoppable.

i am shameless.

i have no shame.

when did that become an insult, to be “shameless”?

this record contains 10 of the most honest, vulnerable, funny, sad, dark, and (definitely) shameless songs i’ve ever written. the production is drum-tight, with very few drums: it’s mostly piano and ukulele with a smattering of other instruments, but it’s raw AF.

Fuzz was stabbed by KKK a member at a rally in Anaheim,Ca this passed week.

Im sure people have heard about it as it turned violent and suprise the KKK members arnt being looked at as criminals.

He is on his second surgery. This is local and important.
