As a context, the âproposalâ thing was mentioned in the interview with Yukana (C.C.âs VA) from the movie pamphlet: (Resurrection spoiler) (read spoiler below first before read this)
âyou changed your family surname to lamperouge, but you kept lelouch, the name that was given to you at birth. how sentimental. you canât let go of the past.â âwell, c.c. swings to the other extreme, doesnât it? itâs not a human name.â at the risk of being super sappy all over main, i love the insight this conversation gives into the final moments of re;surrection. when lelouch tells c.c. he wants to go with her at the end of the film, she brushes him off, telling him that he has nunnally to look after or that heâd be better off going to find shirley or kaguya (a super telling line you could write a whole other post about), and ending with, âbesides, what would you do about your name?â⌠basically, c.c. has million different ways of telling him she doesnât think he can let go of his past. and when lelouch tells her he wants to take her name and become âl.l.â, itâs perfect for so many reasons, but the two that stick out to me the most are: 1) lelouch previously told c.c. that her name is inhuman, and she basically agreed later on in the day, saying after all sheâs been through, thereâs no point to her having a name anymore. when he tells her now that heâs going to become âl.l.â, heâs essentially saying i will become inhuman with you. itâs a beautiful sort of echo of their most iconic scene, where he tells her, âif youâre a witch, then iâll be a warlock.â (right before their first kiss, notably!) his response to seeing her pain and the terrible torture sheâs been through isnât to invalidate her feelings, but to say if you are this then so am i. youâre not alone. iâll share your burden. becoming âl.l.â reaffirms that beautifully, and the sentiment is only compounded by the fact that c.c. was trying to walk away without being noticed, returning to a life of loneliness and leaving lelouch to his happy ending. 2) by finally giving up his given name, lelouch shows heâs ready to move on with his life. several times, particularly in the first season, lelouch expressesd dissatisfaction with the fact that he had to don a âfalse nameâ, but the fact is he only just barely took on a pseudonym. for all that he seethes about his family, he jumped at the very first opportunity he got to use his real nameâso much so, that his name quite literally becomes his catchphrase. as was shown time and again, he was far too caught up in the drama from his past to be able to have a real relationship. but the crux of his character in the final half of r2 is his realization he doesnât want to be like his father, trying to bring back the past, or like his brother, trying to preserve today. what he wants is tomorrow. he cuts almost every tie he has because heâs determined to get the world a tomorrow. now that heâs come back to life, it would be so easy for him to take his resurrection as a chance to return to how things were. the last thing he thought about before dying was his childhood days with nunnally and suzaku, and he has the chance to return to that given to him on a silver platter. however, lelouch has grown enough to realize nunnally has become her own independent person, and that him staying would actually stifle her development. heâs given up trying to shelter her from the world and is no longer obsessed with his identity as an abandoned prince. zero may have been a revolutionary, but this is the first time lelouch as a person has shown a readiness to make a change and move forward with his life. shedding his name, after years of clinging to it in the face of common sense, is quite the symbolic gesture. with all that said, is it any wonder the camera spends so long on c.c.âs reaction to his offer? you can see her cycle through all of this in that minute, as she realizes exactly what heâs trying to ask. the pure joy in her face strikes me as one of the most unguarded and guileless moments in the series. itâs the weirdest, sweetest proposal ever, and itâs perfectly lelouch and c.c.
24/5 was a good day because Black was released from the Light stone.
Ohh Iâm so happy right now. Agency fans had to wait nearly almost a half a decade to see Black truly reunited with White. Pokespe fans can rejoice now!!!
I canât believe this really happened. It felt like an eternally distant thought that would never be resolved but here we are. I am so happy you havs no idea and legit squealed when I saw this! I can happily add Agencyshipping to the list of my favorite ships 2019 has graced with beautiful canon support.

ShuTaba - Familial or Romantic?
One of the main arguments against ShuTaba is that theyâre âlike a family!â âLike brother and sister!â
While of course, thatâs a valid interpretation, thereâs something youâre missing.
Futaba does not see Akira/Ren as family.
How do I know?
The headpatting scene!
In Futabaâs Rank 8, she asks the protag to pat her head like her mother used to do. Itâs a familial touch that sheâs asking her âsupposed older brotherâ Akira to do. Sheâs expecting it to feel the same way.
But it doesnât.
It feels different, because she does not see Akira as family.Â
Then thereâs the Sojiro scene. In his Rank 10, he calls Akira family. He then wonders if Futaba will become someoneâs bride someday.
The line people focus on from that scene is him asking Akira not to âget withâ Futaba.
They take it as âyouâre going against Sojiroâs wishes by dating her!â
ButâŚisnât that a bit sexist? Futaba isnât Sojiroâs property, she has her own emotions, and she gains a crush on Akira that he can reciprocate. Thatâs not going against Sojiroâs wishes, thatâs reading the mood and saying yes.
(This is another interesting thing to note. She sees Sojiro as family, so he has a reason to care about her the way he does. But she doesnât see the protag in the same light.)
Plus, Sojiro isnât concerned about the Protag taking advantage of Futaba. He just thinks that the Protag calling him dad would be a bit odd. (Which is also a bit odd to say after you said you consider someone familyâŚ)
But, he immediately follows it up by saying, hey, maybe it wouldnât be so bad.
Heâs interrupted by Futaba and seems a bit embarrassed afterwards, like he was imagining something he wasnât supposed to be.
Can you imagine if this scene was Sae and Makoto? People would be praising it for Sae supporting ShuMako, but instead, one little line is taken out of context for ShuTaba to argue against it. And thatâs not really fair, is it?
Donât worry ShuTaba shippers, Sojiro may be a little overprotective, but he approves.
~ Mod Jinxii
P.S. Like Sojiro being Akiraâs father figure? If he marries Futaba, theyâll be a real family! Bonus points!

What if the Darkling on the KH3 cover art is the Master of Masters and is whatâs inside the black box?
Nomura has confirmed that the Master of Masters himself will not be appearing in Kingdom Hearts 3 so alas this sadly canât be the case.

What are your thoughts about Marie from P4G? She seems to a contrversy in the fandom so I would like to know your opinion about her and her role in the game.
Ahhh, to Marie or not to Marie. The old song and dance of love, betrayal and the fandom ripping each otherâs heads off in the neverending cycle of waifu wars.
To give you my take on the issue:
Short Version: I like the character. A lot. Love her, even.Â
Long Version:
When I first played Persona 4 and was made aware of the fact that âThe Goldenâ had some additional content I had no chance to experience yet, I was fully prepared to hate her. What I saw go around in the Fandom were horror stories of badly written dialogue, character derailing escapades and a character who has no business being there taking over the entire narrative. Additionally, I wasnât really sold on her design, since her fashion style seemed pretty badly out of place for P4. So thatâs what I went in expecting. A one-note plot device character whoâd make my experience worse for it.
Then I actually played P4G and realized that absolutely nothing of what Iâd heard was true. Instead of the âobnoxious Tsundere Mary-Sueâ I was warned of, I was greeted by a very well-woven in story about a lost girl trying to deny her own loneliness and confusion by distracting herself with the material world and channeling her emotions into secret writings. In many ways a typical teenager, but the way she acts isnât romanticized at all. Itâs ridiculed where it deserves to be ridiculed and treated seriously where it deserves to be treated as such. At no point is she framed as some great, romantic âARTEEESTâ whose suffering makes her a bigger person. Sheâs just somebody desperately trying to not feel lost. Everything she does, having the protagonist take her out, her stance on consumerism (which she seems to embrace), her constant boredom and impatience, and her poems are symptomatic of how desperately she wants to *not* talk about her real issues that are making her hurt, simply because she doesnât know how to talk about them. That is, of course, because sheâs actually a fragment of Izanami which once rebelled against the goddessesâ corrupted desires and was cast out for it, now resigned to forgetting about its own ideals, which adds a whole layer more to the character. Sheâs the embodiment of a desire for peopleâs most honest, sincere wishes to come true, but since Izanami has abandoned her, she can no longer believe in the very ideal that makes her up, hence why sheâs so resigned to materialism and living out her own desires only in secret. Additionally, the fact that sheâs not actually human makes it hard for her to understand human social norms (just how Izanami doesnât actually understand humans either), so she often acts terribly out-of line, which is where we get the âTsundere Archetypeâ accusations from. However, unlike most cases, Marie is actually a GOOD execution of that character archetype: Not only is her âTsundere-nessâ not just an expression of embarrassment towards a guy she has a crush on (she acts like that towards EVERYONE, not just him), she also has damn good reasons to act like that, since she never actually learned about social guidelines.Â
Still, I am not surprised the fandom is often as opposed to her as they seem to be. As soon as Iâd decided that I actually really like Marie, I felt immediately reminded of the exact same thing happening with a character in another fandom I am big on: Xion from Kingdom Hearts received pretty much the exact same cold initial reception from the fandom as Marie did. And that even though in character analyses she tended to be called a âvery good characterâ.Â
Of course, the parallels between the cases are immediately visible: Both characters are black haired girls who were added to their respective games in retrospect by the way of expansions to the stories, turn out to be deeply important to the story and lore the players have cared about ever since before they knew this character exist, also turn out to be intrinsically connected to an important canon character, and their absence from the initial release ends up being explained with âAll memories of them were destroyed when they died, BUT you now have a chance undo that!!!!â. They are perceived as somehow acting as a âforced love interestâ towards a major character.Â
Itâs pretty clear how a character like that would irk players, who might already have invested hours and hours into doing fanwork and crafting fan-theories that do not involve said character. It can be extremely frustrating to have your image of canon foiled like that by a retroactive update to the narrative. However, in both cases I think the kneejerk reactions were actually greatly overstated:
Even though both, Xion and Marie, change something about the lore they were introduced to, the changes are not so great as one couldnât accommodate for them with ease, a love-relationship with a main character is only implied as a possibility in both cases (In fact, with Marie you can deny taking her down a loverâs route, just like you can with any other character, and with Xion Iâd argue it isnât there at all outside of Axelâs overinterpretation; Xion and Roxasâ relationship seemed strictly platonic or brother-sisterly to me) and, again, timelines where the characters have been erased from existence still exist in both cases, so if you really donât want to involve them, you can still set your fanwork within those timeframes/timelines.Â
If anything, I see Marieâs - and by extension, Xionâs - case as a cautionary tale for writers as to what kind of violent reactions to expect from your audience if you decide to introduce important elements retroactively, as to opposed to putting them into the story right away. No matter how well done those elements are, there will be fans who just canât find it in them to accommodate to that sudden change in the lore. Thatâs just how it is.Â
This is amazing and a way better anyalysis and objective defense of Marie than I could do. Good job.
