I was a frequent visitor of your Tumblr & Twitter acc back in 2019(you retweeted one of my tweets where I manage to discover a Russian cover of Revive) With that being said; what do you think of the Code Geass Gacha game? To follow up: What year do you think we will see more Code Geass anime content?

Oyea I remember that cover. I don't have any substantial opinion on Genesic Recode since I don't play it. I just hope it makes enough money to help fund a decently animated Code Geass project lol.

With Sunrise being busied with several Gundam series/movie projects planned to be released this year I wonder if they have any resources left to work on any Code Geass anime. So maybe it's not until next year we will get Z of The Recapture. But ofc I'm just talking out of my a$$ since I don't work at Sunrise lol.

Welcome back. Don't feel pressured into this if you don't want to, but would you be interested in translating the Stage 26 Emperor and Knight event from Genesic Re;Code? It depicts alternate events set after season 1, even if just a dream. Only that event seems interesting.

The only interesting part of the entire thing for me personally is when V.V. revealed his real name as Victor zi Britannia haha. Though it took time for me to process whether it was ever mentioned before or not. Anyway I'll think about it. Maybe later after I'm done with other things in my list.

I’m going to address some of the asks that have been left rotting in my inbox over the years since the last time I was active here. A bit meaningless, the asker has probably been gone for long and is not going to see it (really sorry) but it’s been gnawing on me everytime I logged in to tumblr and it doesn’t feel right to just delete them all either. So just in case, and also for my conscience.

Not going to address translation requests for Lancelot and Guren/Re; manga (since I think the translation been completed for those manga).

Not taking translation requests for fanart/doujin anymore either. I did some and it just kept coming haha.

Pretty sure somebody else is already doing it? I saw some english scanlation floating around the net up to chapter 9. Don’t want to step on anyone’s shoe.

Director Taniguchi’s “Memo” from Lelouch of the Resurrection BD Booklet

Resurrection’s setting material that was distributed to the cast and staff at the movie development stage to give them general idea of the character/world/mecha setting at the beginning of the story. Since this was made during development/conception stage, some of information here might differ from what we actually see in the movie (or what we will see in future installments, probably, when they finally come around). (so I guess you can take it as… inspiration for fanfic? hehe)

✤ SETTING RELATED TO CURRENT STATE OF THE WORLD ✤

On Holy Britannian Empire

After Demon Emperor Lelouch is killed by Zero the leader of Black Knights, Holy Britannian Empire splits into small states and autonomous territories. Things are relatively stable here as aristocratic system has been pretty much abolished during Lelouch’s era, while any signs of domestic conflicts are suppressed by Britannia-born natives such as Cornelia and Gino, hence intervention from foreign countries is able to be kept in check. Granted, because its national strength is originally already strong, it isn’t necessarily reduced to poverty. Unexpectedly many of its rural regions are rich with resources. Among agricultural nations in the world, it stands at the top.

On UFN

As of Year 2 of Kowa, more than 80% of the world has joined UFN. The basic policy which is the members have to transfer their military force and entrust military operation to Black Knights has not changed. Following the dissolution of Chinese Federation and EU, there’s no country that prominently acts as its leader, but UFN’s founding countries such as Japan, China, and India, have strong influence in the union. Delegation for Japan, Sumeragi Kaguya, serves as the Chairwoman of UFN Supreme Council. The world’s stability is maintained with Schneizel, who’s still under “Work for Zero” geass, serves as Chief of Staff in UFN Supreme Council.

On Black Knights

A military organization entrusted with UFN’s entire military force. No matter how the world has began to engage in dialogues and negotiations, in the occurrence of terroristic activities, Black Knights acts as a suppression and deterrent. Toudou Kyoushiro serves as Commander in Chief, with Cornelia, Gino, Chiba, Xianglin, Honggu, as members.

Kururugi Suzaku

Spending his days as Zero. Frankly it’s hard. But, he has to do it. Suzaku himself sometimes wonders if there’s anyone who notices that he is Zero, but he believes that it is his mission to play the role irregardless. However, he only really told it to Nunnally whom he spent a lot of times together with. As the leader of Black Knights, he also takes over the duties of being one, but since this is his first time taking part in organizational management, he studies about it day and night. With the increase of his participation in politics, surprisingly he’s able to handle political affairs flawlessly, which might be because of his father’s blood.

Nunnally vi Britannia

Her official position is the Honorary Advisor at World Humanitarian Agency (WHA), an affiliated organization of UFN. There are ‘voices’ that encouraged her to join UFN Council, however since her brother is too notorious, and she herself once claimed to be Empress of Holy Britannian Empire, she settled with her current position. She believes that it is her mission to follow through her brother’s vision of the world, and works hard every day without complaining.

Kouzuki Kallen

Even though she knows that the current Zero is Suzaku, since there’s nothing she can do about it in particular, she’s taking wait-and-see stance. As of now she’s a second year student in Asia Maritime University. The reason she entered this university, is because both land and sky reminded her of war, so she decided to study about sea. She got good at swimming, and now fishing is her hobby. She’s trying to get a sailing licence for small boats. A Black Knights’ reserve officer.

Setting/Character/Mecha description from Resurrection’s Mechanical Completion

Translated bits and pieces I found informative.

On UFN

"Headquarter is located at Waikiki"

On Lancelot siN

"Lancelot which design is reverted to its original function as a weapon for guiding. The name Lancelot and its design were known throughout the world as the favorite KMF of Kururugi Suzaku who served Demon Emperor Lelouch, hence its image is the worst. However in order to evaluate the machine performance, it's continued to be developed under codename "White Fang". After that, the construction of the machine is allowed by adding "sin" to its name. There's a rumor that a section chief from a private company is involved in its development, however the truth is uncertain."

On Guren Special Type

"While retaining some of its features such as high maneuverability and unique weapons, which are the advantage of Guren type, it's been redesigned to accomodate for energy supply. Originally used for rebels' resistance activities, Guren type was designed to operate even in environments where there isn't enough energy supply. Guren Special Type which is the latest model of Guren, the flagship of Black Knights, was developed on the premise that it would operate in environments where sufficient energy supply is attainable. Hence while it achieves high-level performance, its energy consumption rate is about 10% higher than the previous model."

Since they’ve been hammering that “Lancelot is evil in public’s eye” I’ve been wondering if Guren, the KMF that ‘defeated’ it, is seen as a hero.

On C.C.’s character description

"She hid Lelouch's body who was killed at Zero Requiem and waited for his revival in hiding, but he was resuscitated in incomplete state as his soul was left in C's World. Her attempts to access C's World to bring back Lelouch's soul to his body were blocked."

So at least this confirms that Lelouch got to his shell state from dead state on his own.

On C.C.’s Zilkhstan clothing ((1), picture above) and Mokochi (2).

"1. As she travels around the world, she incorporates the characteristics of the country they're in into their attires. This is likely done to make it easier for them to fit in among the locals, and to deal with the risk of Lelouch standing out.

2. A stuffed animal that C.C. always carries. Judging from Tamaki's mark on its sole, it's probably an original character goods that he develops."

...I’ve always thought there’s some uncanny relationship between C.C. and Tamaki lol.

On Kallen’s character description

"Crying hard from seeing Lelouch's completely resurrected form, it seems her feelings for him hasn't disappeared yet."

They’ve been pingpong-ing this for some reason.

On Jeremiah’s Pilot Suit

"The attire he wore when he rushed to Zilkhstan's bordering village after hearing the news of Lelouch's resurrection. It imitates Britannian aristocratic style, and he can board on KMF while wearing it as it is. The color of his pilot suit, from previously based on white, now is calm shades based on black as if he's in the state of mourning for Lelouch."

On Toudou and Chiba’s character description

"Todo is concerned as to when Chiba will get married, while Chiba is worried that Todo might not realized her feelings. "

I kind of thought they were already a thing.

On Villeta’s character description

"After Zero Requiem, she married Ougi, and had a child named "Naoto"."

On Zilkhstan’s Geass

"One of the reason it's able to fend itself against invaders is the existence of Geass. Since the founding of the kingdom, a branch organization that separated itself from Geass Order named Farlaf has supported it from behind, hence Kujapat and Shamna are endowed with geass."

I’ve read about this before but forgot where so I put it here, anyway Shamna could’ve gotten her code from a code bearer from this organization, since there must be one, or even more, at least there's one who gave geass to Shamna and Kujapat.

On Nagid Shu Mane

"Following the KMF technology leak from former Britannian Empire, Nagid Shu Mane was built as a fusion between said technology with new technologies from across national borders. Each part of the unit contains built-in float system, which gives major improvement not only to its flight performance but also to its maneuverability. This feature called Megistos Omega mode puts a heavy burden on the pilot. The KMF's exclusive pilot, Shalio, pilots the unit while taking drugs as self-strengthening measure."

Excerpt from Taniguchi’s interview

"Taniguchi: The trilogy starting from "Lelouch of the Rebellion" is, in a way, a story about Lelouch sticking to his selfishness, and ultimately ended with him taking responsibility for what he's done. In this "Lelouch of the Resurrection", he's been resurrected in response to the wish and feelings of C.C. and other people around him, but he himself has no goals or things he wants to accomplish. The people whose life have been affected by Lelouch play the leading role, while Lelouch himself plays supporting role instead. "Lelouch of the Resurrection" is simply the end of story that centers around Lelouch, not the end of the series itself. In fact, it's something that was made so that "Code Geass" as a series can be continued."

I actually have a theory as to why Lelouch has a code as well as a Geass. Imagine if C’s world (all the consciousness/souls of all humans) can only accessed/used by a code user, which would explain a line in the light novels that said Charles and V.V. were unaffected by C’s world’s “sinister aura”, but their acolytes were. If a Geass power is the ability to subconsciously enter C’s world through a Code user, the having C.C. still alive might keep that connection (I’ll continue this is two posts)

- Galonzo got his geass from Shamna’s geass fragments (which he referred to as “star’s fragment” cause he probably didn’t know about geass, he also referred to geass user as ‘magic user’ after all) seen near the end of the movie.

- That code bearer can sense what happen to their contractor is a certain thing, I believe, remember how C.C. can tell whether Lelouch is alive or not when he was stranded to Kamine Island?

- And yeah, I do think being able to access C’s World without help is code bearer exclusive ability, at least from what we’ve seen so far in the show.

- The rest sort of went way over my head haha, sorry, I’m not really into theorizing stuff… but your posts remind of your old request to translate some pages of Oz manga. You still need them?

so Shanma and Lelouch are 'failed ones' just like the character Dash from Renya of the Darkness, and that was before Lelouch mess with C's World. Also, does that meant that there was another or more Code Bearers out their in the world. Although if thats the case, how come she has her Geass only in one eye.

Been long since I read Renya but iirc Dash failed because he didnt fit the criteria as code bearer, while Lelouch and Shamna failed because C's World was unstable, so they're prob different. Then again "failed one = incomplete code" was just my interpreration.

That you need to have geass on both eyes to be able to inherit code was also just most people interpretation from how things went down in the series, which might actually not be the case.

i'm a little confused with Lelouch's new code; as confirmed by the under the sea picture drama he's immortal, but is he still able to be affected by the geasses of other people anyway? in the movie he gave CC his plans to ensure his own mind wouldn't be read, and in the picture drama the shark pirate could still detect that he was lying. But then again, the shark had a sygil as opposed to a geass in his eye, and shamna had a code of her own too, so were their geasses different from normal?

- PD just confirms he doesn’t age, or at least his appearance doesn’t.

- Galonzo couldn’t detect any lies from him because he was saying the truth; he said he has a weapon, and it’s true, his ‘weapon’ was his geass.

- In Resurrection BD release/Lelouch birthday event, staff mentioned when Lelouch and Shamna activate their geass, the sound effect is different from when Kujapat (normal geass user) casts geass. Taniguchi explained that this is because both Shamna and Lelouch are the “failed ones” (なりそこない), and there’s no other existence like them in the whole world. I think this refers to them having incomplete code/failed to become code bearer, which was caused by Lelouch messing with C’s World.

- So Lelouch’s state of being is probably closer to Shamna’s than to C.C.’s. Can use geass, geass can still work on him, can access C’s World, can die, but can return to life through methods.

- Galonzo’s geass certainly is different from the ones we know in the past, from how he got it, where it was located and how he used it. But then again I’m not sure if this is a setting the production team has decided on or something they’re just experimenting on. After all, it’s just a picture drama.

Sorry for the late reply, not really eager to analyze too deep into codes and geass when there’s a sea of grey areas about the laws and mechanics.
