show time, a-holes!

Carol smirked to the other, she knew his face, she’d also heard of him enough around the galaxy “Not with the raccoon?” she asked playfully, before turning fully to him “It’s hard with my build up of powers, I have to keep taking Wednesdays to go into the atmosphere and just send out a solar blast- lets out some stress. Are you staying grounded here?”

“NOPE, it’s just me right now. Although I’m not grounded here, no. I got my ship, just sort of visiting for a week. I actually have some business to take care of out there, but it’s not that important so it can wait. I can’t stay away from the galaxy come on, you know me.”

“I wasn’t really in a position where I could away with it at the time. Now? I will call them out and carry on.“ she chuckled, nodding agreement with his suggestion, “Yelling works, I think I could come up with some pretty creative-”

She was cut off by a scream from the back of the crowd and whipped around towards it, “Holy crap.” She turned back to Peter, “I think we’ve found or first ugly of the evening.”  

PETER WAS ABOUT TO ASK THE WOMAN what some of her creative insults were, but then his head turns at the sound of as cream. “What?” The question not toward anyone, just a reaction as he tries to figure out where it was coming from.

He turns back to look at Linda. “I think you’re right. It’ll only get downhill from here on out though I’m afraid.”

“I’m not used to having such a long stint on Earth” Carol mused outloud, pushing a hand through her hair as she overlooked what people got up to during their morning routines. “It’s like a vacation from a vacation almost. I just miss being, well…Busy?” she admitted. “What’s keeping me here anymore?”

“YOU AND ME BOTH.” Peter explains as he looks over at Carol as he’s leaning against a wall. “I’m not exactly stuck here though, just been here a week or so. You know they have a word for people like us -- it’s workaholic.”

“Well, I have been a woman at academic conferences in the eighties so being treated like crap is something I’ve dealt with quite a few times.” Ass-hole misogynistic researchers. “Sadly I couldn’t hit anyone then and I’m gonna try not to now as well.” she chuckled slightly, “It was a parting gift from a friend.” She dreaded to think what Lucifer paid for this whiskey.

“I’ll take your word for it though.” she looked around, biting her lip for a moment, “Oh crap, I tell you something bad is gonna happen, I can feel it.”

“YOU DON’T HAVE TO TAKE MY ADVICE, but you should totally kick their ass. Anyone who treats you like crap I mean, or tell them off. Either one of those works.” Peter exclaims as he looks around then back to her. “Alright no hitting, but maybe some yelling instead?”  He could be a bad influence when he wanted to be.

“I can feel it too, it’s going to get ugly fast.”

“Yeah, but think about it—you’ll be around for all the cool future shit that people always talk about in sci-fi novels,” she replied. “And besides, you could always go somewhere in the universe where it’s normal to be that old, and then you won’t feel like that one grandpa-looking ass here on Earth.” Her nose crinkled up slightly. “Remind me to stay at my apartment when you’re on the planet,” she replied with a laugh. 

“OH YEAH LUCKY ME, but what if that doesn’t happen. Although I can’t be so impressed since I’ve seen all of it just on other planets. Flying cars? I’ve seen it, I mean I have rockets in my boots. I’m a walking sci-fi novel myself. Weird isn’t it?” Peter chuckles as he shakes his head. “You’re right. I would say I could go to my home planet, but then that means having to see my dad, and no thanks.”

“I mean, I nearly got arrested in a green-peace protest back it in late seventies but since then I’ve never had the experience.” she shook her head, “That would be very handy. Odds are this is gonna blow up and not in any sort of good way. I worry the police are expecting it to use to their advantage.” She uncapped the flask and took a decent swig, making a face as the whiskey went down.

“Yowza, that burns. Here ya go,” she handed the flask to him.

“IT’S NOT PLEASANT, usually you’re treated like crap, but I’m good at getting out of a bad situation.” Peter just has a feeling about all of this won’t be peaceful. He had his weapons handy just in case. He grins watching the woman take a swig of the alcohol, taking the flask from her after. “That means it’s good then.” He chuckles while taking a swig of it too.

“Woah now that’s some good stuff.” He says while handing it back, looking around as he watches the crowd for a moment. “Looks like they’re already getting fired up.”

“I can’t stop them..” Steve mumbles softly as he watches the crowd deteriorate into a mob, anger and fear taking over and driving them to make the wrong decisions. Announcements like this bring out the worst in people, and Steve doesn’t blame them for that - but it doesn’t make it any easier to watch. “What am I supposed to do? Peter - I should be able to stop this. I used to be able to stop this kind of thing..”

This was becoming more fun by the moment. Drawing attention to a good cause and thinking up dirty songs, even more like college. “I could totally get behind that,” she grinned at the guy, “I know way more dirty limericks than I should.” a small chuckle, “Though, we’ll have to keep an eye on the police. Odds are they’re just looking for an excuse to push the boundaries of ‘enforcement.’”

“Until then, want a drink?” she hitched her dress up a little to reveal a flash strapped to her thigh, “Gift from a friend.” Thank you Maze, “Whiskey?”  

PETER CAME ALONG WITH STEVE for the protest, but they got separated. Which doesn’t surprise him considering how passionate he knows he is about all of this. “Oh you’re right about that. They’ll find any reason to lock us up, but hey, I’ve been arrested for worse. I’m great at escaping prison so stick with me. I’ll make sure you get out if they put us away tonight.” He chuckles, but he grins at the reveal.

“Hell yeah, now you’re talking, yes please.”

Linda hadn’t been to a protest since her college days. But there was something a little exhilarating about it. Granted, coming in a nice dress and stiletto heels may not have been the best move since she looked like she should be heading into the party instead of protesting outside it but she wasn’t about to head home and change.

“So, how does this work nowadays? Do we find the guy with the guitar and sing coombia or start yelling obscenities are everyone who passes by… Cause frankly I could do either.” she said with casually. 

Peter wasn’t new to getting himself into situations where he wasn't on the side that was popular. He was proud to be protesting, even if he isn’t home here often, but he was starting to be around more these days since moving in with Steve. He pulls his hands out of his pockets, still in disbelief that the ban was still something being supported. 

“I don’t know, I’m new to all of this. Why not both? We could sing a song that’s obscene.” He chuckles at the idea.

“Okay, here’s what we’re gonna do,” Foggy stepped close and swung a hand over the guys shoulders, having to reach up a little to do so, “We’re gonna walk away and plead ignorance and get a coffee at the place three blocks away and this’ll all be fine.” Feigning ignorance could work wonders at times.

Foggy stopped and surveyed the situation he’d just walked on in. “Okay, if you did that, don’t tell me. I can’t defend you if I know you did it. One of those lawyer rules, y’know?”

“WELL I TOTALLY DIDN’T break that window. It was like that when I got here.” Peter says as he glances at the damage then back to the stranger. “I just came by to get a coffee if I’m honest.”

“Bright and sunny as ever.” Hal mused as he stepped out of a coffee shop, he was only using their bathroom to change into some normal clothes. He’d only been in town for maybe ten minutes, which was record time in going unnoticed for him. “It’s not as noisy as I left it though— what did you all do?” Hal turned to the set of eyes he felt watching him.

“YEAH I SUPPOSE IT IS.” Peter looks up at the sky, holding a coffee in his hand. He lifts it up to his lips to take a sip of the hot liquid. He doesn’t drink it often, but it was a nice treat while he was here. “I think there’s plenty of noise if you know where to find it. I wouldn’t know where it is though.”

          “I’M NOT BUSY RIGHT NOW but my hands are, so let me call you later,” kori says, trying to keep the phone next to her ear with one shoulder, while holding a cup of coffee, a muffin and her bag in her hands. it’s safe to say, she doen’t manage to do that very well and she finds herself tripping and spilling her coffee all over someone else. “crap. i’m so sorry.”

“Here’s the deal… you read this coursebook for me and I’ll give you unlimited shakes for a week at my work. C’mon, it’s just math, it’s… easy.”

"I’LL TAKE A LOOK.” Peter says although he can’t promise anything. He was abducted when he was eight, so his knowledge of what was required by Terran schooling was limited. He was smart though despite that. “I can help you with it, if that’s what you want. I’m no genius, but this is easy.”
