“It’s fine– I’m fine,” she lied, despite knowing Adrian would clearly see right through it. Once he had come over she sighed, for some reason unable to keep up the act once he was right beside her. “I was being stupid and I really fucked up my leg,” Rori admitted, gesturing to the bandage that was wrapped around her shin and all the way up to her knee, which had one of those wide bandaids on it. “I don’t recommend bike riding through these forests and suddenly slamming the breaks,” she added with forced and humorless chuckle. “I’ll be okay,” Rori then said, still unable to bring herself to look at him for some reason.
“ You can’t lie to me, ” he admonished quietly, not even beginning to believe her. Adrian inspected her leg with a quiet intensity, assessing the damage. She’d be screaming if it were broken, but a torn ligament or bad sprain ? He ignored her joke with a frown, gently reaching to nudge her chin until she had no choice but to look at him or close or eyes. “ Ror, do you want me to take you to the hospital ? How bad does it hurt on a scale of 1 to 10 ? I can carry you to the car if you want to go. No one’s making you play it tough right now. ”
