            finn– 

her heart leaped at the sight of him. the relief that her friend had made it washed her fears away. whereas she had some hesitance in seeing finn’s pilot, this had been lost now. rushing towards him, she crashed into the taller man, tightly pulling him into her embrace. 

eyes tightly closed, she let out the choked sob that she… she hadn’t known she had been holding in. she feared having to continue of without him and the relief was overwhelming. “finn–” she choked out, a wide smile growing on her face. 

finally pulling away to look at her friend, she could see some difference than their last meeting, he seemed a tad older, different hair– but it was still him. hands resting on his shoulders, she smiled at him, “i shouldn’t have doubted you would be here.” 

       there was no denying the amount of relief that flooded through him at the familiar sight of his best friend. feet had begun to immediately carry him towards her until they were crashing together, his arms snaking around rey tightly as he just held her close and let the moment of everything sink in. she was here. she was safe. whatever else happened, finn knew he had the two people that he cared most about in the entire galaxy here with him. so long as they were together they could face anything that came their way.

    finn didn’t bother trying to blink back the tears that were threatening to spill as the weight of everything settled around them. he was just.... so glad to have rey here. realizing how much he had truly missed her hit him hard and fast, and the last thing finn wanted to do right now was release her. “rey.” whenever she finally pulled away, there was no denying the wide smile on his features as he surveyed his friend. “you know i’m always going to be right where you are, that’s never going to change no matter where we end up. how are you?? are you alright??”

“you don’t need to leave.” ahsoka says softly in the direction of the new presence in the area. it’s not that she wouldn’t mind spending a little more time meditating. given how strange everything feels, having been thrown into the future this way, meditation helps her centre herself. helps ahsoka find a sence of peace and balance within the force, and within the galaxy.

but it can be done later, really. given how precariously balanced between good and bad things are right now, she doesn’t want to turn away any kind of plea for help. taking a deep breath, ahsoka settles, lets go of the force for the time being and opens her eyes to greet her new company. “i didn’t mean to keep you waiting, i just - i hadn’t expected company.” especially not company she doesn’t recognise.

    his intentions hadn’t been to interrupt the meditation that was occurring, especially with how important finn knew that to be from the training he’d seen rey go through over time. while he didn’t fully understand all of it or the exact reasoning behind it all, the knowledge that finn had at the very least was being aware it was meant to connect one to the force. curiously, he’d attempted it at one point in an attempt to understand why the force flowed through him but that hadn’t gone over too well. 

it’s barely even worth worrying about bandages at this rate, to be honest. poe’s injury isn’t that bad. and besides - they don’t have time to worry about injuries. the empire can’t be allowed to gain any ground. and yet… poe can’t say no to finn. he’s one of the few people out there who can actually make poe stop and rest. “you really think i’m gonna let you do something like that? c’mon, if i wanted to stop you i absolutely could.” poe huffs. it’s true, but it’s also an empty threat - if finn really thinks he needs more bandages he’d probably just accept it, begrudgingly. his expression softens at finn’s words though, and poe can’t help but shift his gaze away from finn guiltily. “i - i know, finn. i know you do. y’know i’m alright, it’s not - life threatening. i’m gonna be okay.”

“they itch. and i’m pretty sure i don’t even need ‘em. who taught you to bandage anyway?” poe grumbles, though he does leave the bandages alone. for now, at least. if he doesn’t he’s pretty sure finn will keep bickering with him which… sure, it can be kinda funny, but poe’s not sure he’s in the mood for it right now. letting out a slightly overdramatic sigh, finn crosses his arms instead, raising an eyebrow at the other. “you here just to play mother hen over me and my bandages?”

“finn!” rey had been searching for her friends desperately since arriving on coruscant, hopeful that if she had ended up here, they had too. and seeing finn here was quite possibly the first sense of relief the training jedi had felt since her arrival. she was quick to run over to her friend and wasted no time in pulling him into a hug. “you have no idea how good it is to see you.” ( @ofrebelsoul​ )

seeing finn always makes the pilot smile. there’s nothing quite like it, if he’s being honest. there’s so many important people in his life, but finn is something else. and this is no different - the second he sees finn approaching there’s a wide smile on his face, his feet moving just as quickly as his friend’s to meet him in the middle. the hug practically knocks the wind right out of him but he doesn’t care, wrapping his arms around finn and squeezing him tight. “oh please, like i was gonna leave you here to fend for yourself.” poe says with a laugh, something swooping in his chest just at knowing finn’s happy he’s here. it makes.. all of this a little easier to deal with. pulling back a little, poe rests a hand on finn’s shoulder, watching him a little more fondly than usual. “i’m - it’s really great to see you, finn.”

   “i wouldn’t really use it as a weapon, but i get where you’re coming from.” it was something finn knew all too well, really. turning his back on the first order and joining up with the resistance hadn’t been an easy choice, but it had been the right one to make. ultimately he had been an enemy that had joined the cause he had been meant to fight against. “people are allowed to change their minds on what they were taught. sometimes they have no choice but to be forced into that position.”

     finn was silent as he reflected on that thought. admittedly, he had felt anger and hatred towards the first order for a long while after he had broken free from their brainwashing. after all, they had stolen his entire life. took him from a family that he would likely never have the chance to know, a home that he may never find. they took everything from him to make him their soldier. those actions had been selfish, and finn could remember how angry he had been once that realization had fully sunk in.

     cringing was the best word to describe exactly what he was doing right now. it was so much easier to push off any sort of energy, especially whenever he was far more focused on other things. as much as finn is tempted to lie and wave it all off, this is leia. and even if she doesn’t know who he is, or anything about it with the time they’re currently in, he just can’t bring himself to speak anything but the truth in her presence. “i mean -- sometimes,” he finally admits. most of the time finn tries not to think about the scar on his back or the battle that had almost taken his life. it was a reminder that he had survived, but some days he could feel that ache and it was just another reminder. 

    the moment that word had reached him about an uprising on coruscant, the decision had been made easily to join with it and do whatever he could in support. maybe the empire was a bit before his time, and finn still had no idea why he was here, but they were just another mask for evil like the first order had been. he wasn’t about to sit quietly and do nothing while all of this was happening in the galaxy. so that was where the resistance general found himself, in the heart of the uprising that was only spreading faster and faster. currently he was standing upon a few stacked boxes, rallying for more support.
