🦁 ⠀  ⠀ ⠀  ⠀ ───────────    “ now who are you calling kid ? ”  simba asked more offended at that comment. his held truth apparently so simba wasn’t gonna fight it.  “ yeah i want a drink. that’s why i’m here. ”

“what the fuck,” kiara replied flatly, shooting him a dead-eyed, vaguely offended glare. “what’d i ever do to you? i’m pretty sure this is your hoodie.” she gestured at said hoodie with all the disdain of a disgruntled cat who’d just been woken from a nap.

🦁 ⠀  ⠀ ⠀  ⠀ ───────────   simba gave an amused smile and held his hands up in faux defense.  “ do you want a list ? ”  he teased setting his hands down.  “ it’s called teasing, kie. you’ve heard of it right ? ”  simba added with a small laugh.   “ so that’s where my shit went ! ”

“ excuse me - who are you talking to like that ? ” brynne looked down at her outfit - layered, sure, but with purpose. maybe it was a different look than people were used to seeing from her, but a white homeless man ? she was so offended. “ i am nothing but kind to you. i make sure to tip extra - i even brought everyone cookies last week ! and you treat me like this ?! take it back ! ”

🦁 ⠀  ⠀ ⠀  ⠀ ───────────    “   i   said   homeless   white   man   !   if   i’m   mistaken   you   are   not   white   and   you   don’t   identify   as   a   man.   ”      simba   told   brynne   already   going   through   every   single   possible   way   he   could   deescalate   the   situation.      “   it’s   true   you   are   my   best   customer.   grateful   for   you,   your   sisters   and   your   generosity.   i   would   never   say   anything   to   you.   ”      he   pointed   to   the   person   behind   her.      “   i’m   talkin’   about   him.   ”      he   said   before   holding   his   hands   up   in   faux   defense.      “   i   take   it   back.   ”

eric sighed as she leaned against the wall next to the bathroom door. “it’s practically a castle im sure there is a bathroom somewhere else.” he said before getting annoyed and banging on the door. “you’d think they’d have common decency to smoke outside.” eric had never hot boxed so he wasn’t exactly sure why they couldn’t just do this outside and leave the bathroom for the other party goers. “maybe there is one for staff somewhere close?”

🦁 ⠀  ⠀ ⠀  ⠀ ───────────       “   yo,   whoever’s   hotboxing   the   bathroom   better   hurry   up.   i’ve   had   to   piss   for   twenty   minutes   now.   ”      simba   groaned   as   he   leaned   against   the   wall.   with   how   fancy   the   place   was   you   think   they   could   afford   a   few   more   bathrooms.   he   was   desperate   at   this   point   for   some   place   to   go.      “   i   don’t   want   to   hear   shit   from   mickey   mouse   if   i   let   nature   flow   in   the   gardens   this   is   ridiculous   .   ”

as the only girl, saskia’s felt all her life she had to prove herself in some aspect. saskia is blunt and isn’t afraid to take charge. she’s a natural born leader and always makes sure shit around her gets done. she isn’t afraid to step on a few people to get what and where she wants. she’s not a mean person by any per se, intimidating of course, but from a young age she’s known you have to forge your own way - no one is going to do it for you or worse they’ll take it from you. like her brothers, she was trained to be a fighter. saskia is skilled in martial arts and isn’t afraid to take someone down twice her size. she knows zack is in line for the crown but she also knows her brother is going to need a right hand woman because while zack’s all brawn and she’s the brain to balance everything out. and davu ? well davu’s a clown but she loves him. still, saskia has dreams of her own. she’s not looking to rule a country really. there’s so much more to than just being the princess of pride rock.

“Ka-chow!” Monty almost fell over as he yelled it. He couldn’t remember the last time he said it. “Simba! Great name!” He grabbed the man’s shirt and dragged him along the sidewalk towards the general direction of taco truck. “It is the dark. I wonder where my phone went.” 

🦁 ⠀  ⠀ ⠀  ⠀ ─────────── simba   clapped   his   hands   in   excitement.      “   let’s   fucking   go   !   ”      he   smiled,   proud   of   himself   that   he   got   the   ka-chow.      “   thanks,   man.   monty’s   neat   too.   ”      he   allowed   himself   to   be   dragged   by   the   other   man   and   laughed.      “   oh   bro   what   if   it’s   in   your   pocket   ?   ”

kiara laughed, half-heartedly knocking away his hand from her hair. there was a point when it would’ve felt patronising, but that was before she thought it would never happen again. now having her hair messed up was, unfortunately, comforting once more. “wow. that really still works? you’re a total sucker, cuz. i’d never let kion get away with that shit.” mostly because he wouldn’t need to. kiara gave that kid enough as it was - hard not to, when she knew how bad it could feel to be completely uprooted the way he had. and when he did try to pull the sad eyes trick, it usually meant something had gone, or would go, wrong.

“is this gonna become a regular thing?” she added, less an afterthought than it seemed. regular things with simba were still something she was figuring out. because if i need to make room for a collection of carnival game plushies, i wanna know now. maybe they could keep me company in the lab.”

🦁 ⠀  ⠀ ⠀  ⠀ ───────────   there   had   always   been   a   certain   fondness   that   simba   felt   for   kiara.   the   line   between   cousins   and   sister   was   often   blurred.   they   were   family   through   and   through   but   the   bond   they   had   forged   was   so   much   deeper   than   either   of   them   ever   realized   until   it   was   ripped   from   them.   there   was   absolutely   nothing   simba   wouldn’t   do   for   kiara.   it’s   why   he   was   here   trying   to   mend   what   had   been   broken.   “alright,   shut   up.   you   know   i   let   you   get   away   with   shit   all   the   time.   cool   older   cousin   perks.   damn,   condolences   kion.”   

“   what   ?   us   hanging   out.   I   mean   yeah,   if   you   want   it   to.   ”      simba   wanted   to.   he   knew   that   shifting   into   normality   wouldn’t   be   easy,   especially   so   now   that   simba   knew   that   scar   was   in   elias.   but   he   wanted   to   pretend   for   a   moment   that   everything   was   alright   before   he   ripped   the   rug   out   from   under   kiara.      “   yeah,   i’m   make   some   room.   you   need   little   assistants   or   whatever.   ”   

after   a   quick   round   simba   did   indeed   win   the   lion   plush   and   handed   it   to   kiara.   as   he   did   his   heart   string   tugged.   she   deserved   to   know.   the   more   he   pushed   it   off   the   more   danger   loomed   over   them.   a   sigh   escaped   his   lips.      “   look   kie,   before   we   continue   this   bonding   i   have   something   to   tell   you.   it   might   ruin   the   vibes   but   you   have   a   right   to   know.   ”

Monty was laughing too hard. He was a little more than tipsy. He’d settled into small life in a way but he missed the big city partying too. “95! That’s me. It’s nice to meet you too…uh…who are you?” Monty shrugged. “Let’s go. I don’t know what time it is.” 

🦁 ⠀  ⠀ ⠀  ⠀ ───────────       “   can   the   crowd   get   a   little   ka-chow   from   you   ?   ”      simba   teased   all   too   happy   now   that   there   was   alcohol   in   is   system.      “   simba   shauku.   pleasure   to   meet   ya.   ”      it   was   nice   not   to   be   recognized   for   once   in   his   life   and   live   in   a   land   of   normality.      “   uhhh   it’s   dark   !   that’s   all   i   know.   i’m   sensing   the   am.   ”

true love. it gave nick the same shiver in his bones he got when he was speaking to that guy in the park taking care of the kid. both of those things seemed to center around responsibility for another person and it wasn’t a natural perspective he could slip into. “ true love, huh ? like with hearts and everything ? ” he asked, curious but almost distant, as he gestured around simba like he was surrounded by tiny pink hearts. “ oh, jeez, now i’m gonna have to make sure i have good nails when it happens. marriage is hard work. ”

nick handed over the socks, giving simba one last judgmental once-over. “ i’m breaking up with you right now, i can’t do this. keep the ring. keep the crocs. — and, let me get this straight, you’re taking my socks but you’re not taking my shoes ? what am i, who are we ? i need to feed myself. ” he made the cash movement with his fingers, placing the shrike air force 1s in plain sight in front of simba.

🦁 ⠀  ⠀ ⠀  ⠀ ───────────   “   yeah,   hearts   and   everything.   ”      had   you   asked   a   much   younger   simba   about   the   notion   of   love   he   would   have   stuck   his   tongue   out   at   you.   being   in   love   with   nala   on   top   of   that   he   would   say   you’re   pulling   his   leg.   nala   had   always   been   his   best   friend   and   nothing   more   until   that   wasn’t   the   case.   they   were   friends   first   which   allowed   them   to   build   a   sturdy   foundation   for   love   to   blossom.      “   if   you’re   gonna   be   posting   that   nice   ass   ring   i   get   you,   your   nails   better   be   done   !   ”

simba   couldn’t   help   but   laugh.      “   over   some   crocs   ?   damn,   who   knew   my   fashion   sense   would   lose   me   the   love   of   my   life.   ”      he   replied,   brow   raised.      “   those   socks   look   mad   comfy.   ”      he   said   as   he   took   out   his   wallet.      “   okay   so   how   much   for   the   shoes   and   socks   ?   ”
