She tried controlling herself and most of the time, she did a fine job at it. She’d go home, binge watch some crappy show or find herself fifty pages deep in a new research article on psychology and the mind. “I’ve that a time or two. Seemed to always be five o’clock back In Dublin,” she returned, smile widening as she remembered her home. She missed, really, but London was a good place for her; a good fresh start even three years into it. “Sounds like you’re a good friend,” she complimented, reaching back to pull over the door and stepping aside. “Wouldn’t wanna keep you from getting that car back to your lad. Besides, I think I’ve made up my mind. One drink won’t hurt a thing, right?”

Ivy offered a warm smile, she got the vibe that the other may be a tad homesick, among other things that she is not able to discern. “When I can, I definitely try to be!” Being a genuinely good person at heart she always tried be her best self. Even in the face of adversity, it might take some doing, but with a good support system, she manages to pull through. "Sure won’t,” Ivy agreed as she entered the bar ahead of the other. “You’re not keeping me back,” she waved off the other’s concern. “I have about an hour to spare. Would you like some company? Maybe you can tell me about Dublin, I’ve always wanted to make a trip there.”

Shit. It was a silent thought, one that she wanted to utter aloud, but deciding against it. “My apologies,” she hummed, shoulders rising as head shook in disregard to her own mistake. She wasn’t in the headspace to be conversing with strangers, yet here she was doing just that. “Lost? No,” she assured, though perhaps she was, just not in the physical sense. “I just realized that it’s not even noon and I’m at a bar. Guess I was having second thoughts.” Yet she hadn’t walked away, which surely meant something for her decision making. “I’m guessing you were about to go in? Y’know, had I not been practically guarding the door like it was my job?”

If she wasn’t lost, then something greater had to be at play when it comes to her current state. Ivy could not quite place it, but she didn’t think leaving the other alone right now was the best option. Ivy had a tendency to want to fix people, or broken birds as the literary genre would put it. “Second thoughts are usually good guides to decision making,” she noted. Ivy casually stuffed her hands into the pockets of her jacket for warmth. "I’m in no place to judge. It’s five o’clock somewhere right?” She joked, trying to make light of a potentially awkward situation. “I mean, you could be at a bar early for various reasons. In my case, I’m here to collect a friend’s car. He overdid it last night and had his keys taken away.”

Nothing hurt worse than seeing a broken child in a broken home with broken parents. For someone who’d been in the career field for years, it still hadn’t made the job any easier. This time was no different; an abused child had been referred to her office by the courts, her parents referred to their own psychiatrist for assessments. After conducting hers, Cara had practically begged the judge to revoke guardianship of the young child, but according to the higher power, they were trying to be better parents and for that, he had to give them the benefit of the doubt. Which in turn, had led Cara to the bar, a bar in which she hadn’t even gone inside of.

Did she really want to be like her father and drink away her problems as they came? It wasn’t like chasing the bottle would reverse the decision made by the judge. Swallowing hard, Cara shook her head, only then realizing that someone had been trying to get her attention. “What? No, I’m fine,” she lied, releasing a quiet huff into the chilly morning air. 

“No, that’s not what I asked...” Ivy’s brow furrowed as she studied the other. Initially, all she had done was politely ask for the other to shift so she could pass. The entrance to the bar was being hindered by her stance. Although Ivy could maneuver around, she didn’t want to be rude. When she didn’t get a response from the brunette concern etched her features. “Although, I feel like I should have asked that initially. You are clearly not fine.” The brunette pointed out. “Are you lost?”
