Klaus looked up at the raining sky and brought his umbrella back to cover his head and new jacket. 10 years he had been sleep and the world looked just the same. “Well Mystic Falls is just as miserable as ever.” 

The vampire was out trying to get some provisions for his brother since blood isn’t quite fit for human consumption, but this does give him an excuse to grab some sweets. After exiting a local shop he notices a familiar person sticking out like a sore thumb in the square. Kol approaches his brother from behind as if to startle him when he says, “Funny, I was just about to say the same thing about you, Nik.”

                     ❝ I think I rather explore other options before applying to the mystic grill ❞

“Well then, what exactly are you even qualified to do since the hospitality business is apparently far beneath you?”

                  ❝ I don’t know why I thought job hunting was going to be easy❞

"This is Mystic Falls. There shouldn’t be any stiff competition for any kind of jobs here. Besides, I’m sure the Mystic Grill is always looking for lackeys.”

Text to Kol: The harmless nature that big brothers can’t stop worrying so much about.

Text to Kol: I am not…. 

Text to Kol: I’ll find the broom. And, really? Definitely, I’ll get to work on magic messages!

Kailey had a lot going on in her mind today and she didn’t know what to do with the anger that boiled under her skin, so the young brunette had been taking it out on other people including the people she was glad to consider her friend. “Is there anyone else here?” the siren admitted with a small laugh, but more of a sarcastic one than sincere. “Dumbass? Oh wow, I’ve never heard that before.”

The vampire’s patience is at an absolute zero at this point so if the woman is looking for a fight then he is just about ready to, but he cannot be so careless as to attack her first. Still he cannot help but curl his hand into a fist, allowing his nails to dig into his skin to the point of feeling a warm liquid in the palm of his hand. “I think it’d be best for you to walk away before I do something you surely will regret.”

Text to Kol: Not this time.

Text to Kol: They’re around, but I don’t want to make them clean up my mess.

Text to Kol: Supplies? Hopefully it’s something to eat.. I wasn’t quite sure about trying to cook something for myself.

Text: Kol – Ha ha. 

Text: Kol – So, do we have something to clean up crushed herbs from the carpet? I kind of knocked over my bottle while toying around with different spells.

Text: Kol – Other than that, um, Hi. Anything interesting going on?

[Text: Kol] Brother? I hope I'm getting the hang of this texting thing....

Kailey had had enough of this bullshit by now, it was about time she got back to her old ways of being a stone cold bitch. She walked around the park, muttering curse words underneath her breath, it was obvious that she wasn’t in the best of moods. She was nearly at her choice destination when she unexpectedly bumped into someone. “Hey, watch where the hell you’re going!” She yelled at them as she stopped abruptly, facing them.

For the past few days following the party debacle Kol has been laying lower than the caskets in the ground. It was weird for him to feel so powerless in his own body, but at least the hour passed and he was returned to his glory which he spared no second to escape when he was able to. Now the original is in the park looking for someone to feast on since the taste of blood bags has lost its appeal. In his search someone bumps into him and is being quite rude about it and Kol is not having any of it. “Me?” the vampire scoffs at the simple implication that this was his fault. “You’re the dumbass that ran into me.”

“Quite possibly one of the worst things I’ve done is pretend to be friends with Jeremy Gilbert. Bloke has the personality of a doornail.”

“Since I have to be honest it D E P E N D S on the day. As of right now it’s: Nik. Rebekah. Henrik. Freya. Elijah. Finn.”

Jace could not suppress the urge to roll his eyes when the original vampire mentioned COMPULSION. He began to consume vervain ever since he found out about his sire and her plans for him, but he knew that it would not be a hard task to drain any traces from his body, so he did not even mention that little detail. «That won’t be necessary. What exactly do you want to know? I can share my point of view, but I am not in any position to share HOPE’S.» Sworn enemies. The hybrid scoffed at that, but yes, that was exactly what they were SUPPOSED to be. Unfortunately, things did not always go according to plan, did they? «No, that is not what I mean to tell you. Even though things are changing.» He answered in a sincere tone before he studied the man just a little closer. «We are ALL feeling intensely, it’s a part of our curse, isn’t it? And we all make mistakes, but we need to learn to take responsibility.» Own up to their actions, whether they were good ones OR bad ones. «Maybe you were not the same man, but what changed?» It was not a provocation, it was an attempt to understand. «People are so WILLING to be fed on these days. Why her? Why use force and violence when there are much simpler ways?» Jace carried on before he looked away for one moment. «Look, I get that. I understand that it HURT, but… Did his death honestly make you feel any better?»

While a small part of Kol did want to compel the vampire into telling him the truth he knew that he could not invade his niece’s privacy, especially since she’s become a young adult herself. She is capable of making her own decisions whether or not he agrees with said decision—like joining the war—is up for fair game. The old him would have just done so without batting an eye because he’s wanted to or just to see how much he can get out of the man. For now he’ll have to trust that he wouldn’t mean Hope any harm. “Not necessary at all, but I guess we’ll go through the basic scolding,” the original pauses a moment to clear his throat to properly give his spiel to the younger vamp, “If you so much as look at her funny, then there isn’t a being out there that can save you from the hell I will put you through. Not even the birthday boy himself.” 

The vampire for a while did not actually care about repercussions back then, especially during the first few centuries. The only thing that he was afraid of was his father that actually did have the power to kill him. Everything else meant nothing. At the time he quite literally killed the king just because he moved on in what he believed to be inadequate enough time to properly move on from his supposed death. It’s funny how he’s getting a talk from someone far younger than him. A little smile cracks from his face just at the thought that the old him would not have stood for this. “Hope. My last death, more specifically being surrounded by my family and my love. It made me realize that I was someone that was wanted, that’s what changed. As for Edward, well it felt good for a while, but ” Of course just because all of that happened it doesn’t mean that he isn’t going to slip into old ways, especially since he is back to being a vampire. Sometimes he wants a good drink and will take it if he needs it, especially since he’s stuck in the one town he didn’t want to stay more than five minutes in. Of course when the man mentions people willing to be fed on he immediately knew that he was going with that. “I tried to grab a bite before the party but I did have other obligations. If course as I said, I wasn’t going to kill her.”

             “Um…Yeah. I  guess. Me and a bottle or two.” She nodded though not very convincingly. “I mean it could be better. I’m just looking for any kind of distraction.” Davina told him honestly. “Probably end up drunk or something. ”  If this night ends well. 

This feels rather off and the vampire is almost certain that Davina can feel it too. There’s a big disconnect between them and never did he think that this would happen. “Do you think you and your bottle will mind if I intrude?” Kol asked with a little smile on his face. Things between them might have changed in his eyes but he’ll be damned if he doesn’t at least mend a few pieces slowly. “When this night is over I plan on getting bloody wasted, but for now I doubt it’d do my brother any good without a clear mind.” It just dawned on Kol that Davina might not have met his newly resurrected brother. “I’m sure I’ve mentioned my younger brother Henrik in the past, haven’t I? Well imagine my surprise when I found out he was brought back to life about a month ago.”

«My intentions are GOOD, I can tell you that much.» The rest of the story was nothing that he would share with the original vampire - It should be Hope’s call and not his. «I want her to be happy. Fighting with you would not really help, so I would prefer NOT to do it.» Jace explained before he narrowed his eyes and just listened. His frown deepened with every single word and he shook his head by the time Kol finished. «Why are you telling me this?» It was a GENUINE question, but the hybrid did not give him much time to answer it. «If you want to make me think that you are not behaving like a child it was the wrong approach. How can you stand here and call him your LOVER after what you did to him?» It was something he honestly did not understand. «I get jealousy. If my girlfriend left me for another guy I would be jealous too, but how could you do that? How could you punish him for something he could not control? None of us CHOOSE who we fall in love with.» If anyone knew that part was true it was Jace.

“You can tell me that much, huh?” The vampire repeats the phrase then offers a rather curious look at the man while he says, “I wonder if I could compel it out of you, then.” While he is somewhat joking about doing so he cannot help but feel the way he does. Kol cares deeply for his niece despite her latest choices of being entangled in a war that he believes is far beneath her, but of course she is free to make her own choices, it’s part of being a kid. “Interesting. So you mean to tell me you’re nothing more than just friends? Shouldn’t you two be sworn enemies or something or did I miss something along the way?” Of course when the man asks him why he told him that story he has to admit that it wasn’t quite the reaction he was looking for. Kol thought that the man would be open to trading some stories, but it seems that the vampire might have went a bit too far with something that doesn’t even cut it on his top five. He is about to explain himself, but it seems that the younger male’s train of thought was taking a detour elsewhere. “Well I wasn’t the same man that stands before you today. I was young and feeling things very intensely back in the day.” Kol folds his arms as he hears the man starting to come at him. In all fairness he did love dear Edward, but he did things without much thought because it seemed like a good idea at the time. Of course it didn’t help that Isabella hated Hugh enough too and sort of set the stage that would end in her husband and then lover’s life being taken away. “I did come to regret my actions but what’s done was done. He wasn’t coming back. What hurt me the most is that he moved on rather quickly. Smitten with another man no less than a month after my apparent death?”

               “We will be prepared IF it comes down to something happening here.” Although Davina really hoped the night will end just as any normal given party would. Everyone drunk and heading home or passing out somewhere. “You should enjoy the party until then…” 

After living for over a thousand years it just seems that life plays by the same chords and what obviously presents itself like a trap will always make Kol seem on edge. He didn’t even want to come to the stupid party, but he just couldn’t leave his brother here without protection. It’s not until Davina talked that he really allowed it to sink in that maybe this might actually be a party. “A-Are you enjoying the party thus far?”

Hope’s love of the piano was not a secret one. Since she’d been a little girl she’d loved to play with her Uncle. It was one of their things. It was something she shared with him ( or he, her ), and though she played less now.. Sometimes the pull was impossible to resist. Like tonight. After seeing the instrument in all its glory, nothing could have stopped her from taking her place behind it. 

The tribrid’s consciousness seemed to return to her as her slightly above average hearing picking out the sound of a drink being set down and somebody taking a graceful seat beside her. “Are you having a good time?” Choosing to open her eyes, she smiled seeing her Uncle Kol, and it only widened as he began to play the melody with her. “Did Elijah teach you, too?” she asked, her gaze moving to the vampire’s hands rather than her own. 

The vampire would be lying if he said that he didn’t love the piano, but then again his love of music knows no bounds. Elijah was not the only one that would play a tune every now and then to pass the time, in fact it was his taste of music that helped him meet a few princesses and a prince or two back in the day. Still it felt rather relaxing to allow his fingers to glide across the keys for a change instead of them wrapped around someone’s throat. “It’s a lot better now that my favorite little nerd is here,” he says with a genuine smile on his face. At the mention of his brother he shook his head, “uh, no actually.” He continues to play along to the melody as he turns back to focus more on the piece. “I was taught by an aristocrat back in the thirteenth century; he was really nice bloke. But between you and me, music was just about the only thing he had to offer.”

“Thats a bit too bad. You don’t have much of a choice here.” It took all of Melinda’s restraint to run at him and orb them to a the nearest waterfall (this was Mystic Falls) and drop him from it. “This is supposed to be a peaceful party. Let her go.”

“Who said I’m not being peaceful?” Kol slowly turns his body towards the woman who is intervening during his snack time. “You can rest easy since you have my word she will not die, plus she is my plus one.” This is surely a lie, but she does not need to know this. He has no ill intentions to those who are innocent at the party since it’ll most likely paint a target on his back, and Kol unfortunately has people to live for—people that actually depend on him.
