An embarrassing moan left Gaius’ lips as he snacked on the treat in his hands. Sure, the Plegian army was flinging spells, arrows, and lances at both himself and Tharja, though Gaius felt the crumbling pillar they currently hid behind was enough to shield the two from their assailants.
“Mmm… gods, the flakiness of this tart… the bitter-sweetness of the fruit… oh gods, it’s to die for,” he hummed in pleasure.
Cramming the last of the tart into his mouth, the Ylissean thief then made an embarrassing show of licking his fingers of the treacle, as if he was making love to the dessert he’d just inhaled. Tongue touring around his fingers, he acted as if he wasn’t the least bit aware of the newest recruit’s eyes burning into him.
Fishing in his pocket, he stuck a lollipop in his mouth and grinned at the dour dark mage situated near him.
“Crivens, Sunshine. Keep looking at me like that and I might combust where I stand. Anyone ever told you that your looks could kill a man? I don’t mean it as a compliment, but if you take it as one, who am I to rain on your parade?”
The two barely knew each other, but Gaius already found it prudent to act like a sarcastic jackass in her presence. He couldn’t help it, she was too easy to rile up. That, and the constant vitriol she spewed at him only made him grow more sarcastic and dry when around her.
Brows furrowed, a glare that was intended to wither was shot at the thief. Gods above, how could he have created someone so irritating and downright revolting. She wrinkled her nose in disgust at the way he carried on about that damned tart.
Normally, she wouldn’t have a problem with Gaius’ sweet tooth (it’s his teeth that’s going to rot, not hers.) But the moans, the way he mumbles to himself like his snacks are a lover...well, that wears a persons on nerves. It’s both disturbing, and annoying.
“Must you do that?” She hisses. “All of Plegia could hear you eating and talking yourself like a madman.”
Of course, she could always put a hex on him that would make him lose his voice, or a paralyzing hex so he can’t move at all, let alone use his muscles to speak. Heh.
Despite her earlier annoyed, she smiled at his comment. At least he acknowledges that she is not to be messed with.
“Yes...I have been told. I’ve also killed several men. I wouldn’t mind adding you to the body count if you don’t shut up.”
