“Me? Oh….” Abigail could help but laugh “Oh no I’m not the mayor, I’m just warning you before you sneak into that office. She doesn’t go easy on pranksters so just walk the other way alright kid? Hmmm a run away?” 

❝ I think i can handle myself but, thanks. ❞  Maya laughed, clearly going to do whatever she wanted no matter the warnings she received. ❝ I’m not a runaway. I just don’t have very-- involved parents. ❞

❝ Riles, Just because I’m painting something other than purple cats, doesn’t mean my paintings are wrong. You should try painting something else for a change. ❞

“I know you don’t always paint purple cats. That’s my thing. All I’m saying is that I don’t think my hair looks like that.”

❝ Let the artist work her magic. It’s not done yet. ❞  Maya said, focusing herself on her painting. ❝ If you still don’t like it when I’m done, I’ll fix it for you, okay? ❞ 

❝ You’re really funny. You actually think I’d even consider doing that? You clearly don’t know me in the slightest. ❞

“But I K N O W I don’t know you that well. That was the whole point of this…!” Callie sighed.

❝ I guess that’s true. Fine. I’ll try it. But,  you’re going first. ❞ Maya said with a small smile.

❝ Why can’t you just leave it alone? It’s a big deal to me. I’ve been doing things for myself forever and I’m not changing that now. ❞

                    “Fine then, I won’t ever help you out again. Just trynna be a friend, and do something a friend should do. Maybe some day you’ll learn to take help once and again.”

❝ You’re right. I’m sorry. I know you were just   trying to be a good friend. I shouldn’t have freaked out on you like that. I just like feeling like I can do  everything for myself but, I guess I can’t. ❞

“Nice to meet you Maya. And you’re welcome,” Ate smiled at her, finding amusement in the girls obvious annoyance. It was too easy. She carelessly threw the used wrapper of the cake at the near by bin and glanced around, as if just noticing where she was. “I’ve got to ask, what are you doing in a place like this?”

❝ Clearly, it is or else you wouldn’t have been able. to eat my food without my permission or knowledge. ❞ Maya huffed, watching as the wrapper flew towards the trash can. ❝ I’m always here. It’s one of the places I feel I can be myself. What about you? ❞

“I don’t think that’s right.”

          ` well, out this late, you kinda do. but WHATEVER. wanna get kidnapped by some hobo, that’s none of my business. ` as he would feign walking away.

❝ You don’t even know me. I’m plenty capable of taking care of myself. You’re being pretty dramatic. I’m not getting kidnapped by anyone. ❞ She retorted, placing a hand on her hip.

❝ You’re probably right. It’s just hard. Everyone wanted me to be good and once I’m good, I’m not myself and need to change back. It’s as if nothing I do is good enough ❞ The blonde said, pulling the ice pack away from her eye and lightly running her fingers across it to survey the damage.

❝ You don’t know how it really is though. I feel as though everyday is a constant reminder of how I’ll never be as good as my friends. ❞ Maya placed the ice pack back over her eye as it seemed no better, quickly glancing at Talia’s hand on her shoulder, in a clear attempt to comfort her.

❝ That’s easy for you to say. You’ve got at least five inches on me. My legs are nowhere near long enough to jump this fence. Isn’t there another way? ❞

                        “And here I was, thinking you were some kind of risk taker. But, there is no other way that I can see.”

❝ Hey! I am. My body clearly doesn’t want me to be. ❞ Maya bit her lip and looked the fence over one last time, feeling as though she had something to prove. She grabbed onto the chains of the fence and carefully began to climb her way up to the top.

❝ Smackle, Just forget it. I really don’t have the energy to explain to you the confusing world that I like to call, my dating life. ❞

                     She furrowed her eyebrows in confusion. “Is it that draining?” She mused.

❝ You have no idea. ❞ Maya sighed heavily, running a hand through her blonde locks. She knew quite well that Smackle wouldn’t understand. Sometimes Maya wished she could be as oblivious to these these as she was.
