Pokeddexy, day 6: Favorite Fighting: Gallade

I normally don’t like fighting types, but Gallade grew on my after playing ORAS. I just wanted to kick Wally’s ass with his own pokemon.

                             ❛ … we’ve met before, haven’t we ? ❜

         if his mind had a room that kept images of every person he had met,the files &. contents would be a mess. organised into two separate piles: people of important. people he had met once or twice. &. while these persons should leave their mark in his head - the pain of scrubbing memories of faces he no longer wanted to remember haunted him so deeply - yet the woman who stood in front of him should spark a certain familiarity in his mind’s eye. however, he couldn’t seem to place a finger on the name that balanced at the tip of his tongue so teasingly. 

           She laughs, which is perhaps not the appropriate response to his question, but the situation in which they had met had been quite amusing. She hides her smile behind a closed fist, but her fist cannot hide the way her eyes crinkle in genuine amusement. 

He jumped a bit at her shouting, trying to flatten down his hair with his hands so it wouldn’t stick out like a Purugly’s.  “Does he do that often?”  Trevor wondered, slightly concerned he’d bear witness to a burning that wasn’t during a pokemon battle.  He remembered how much his Charmander enjoyed lighting other pokemon aflame, causing him to cough a bit when spit got stuck in his throat.  “If so, I guess only Pikachu is safe out here…”

Miharu’s words made Pikachu nod, tail wrapping around the back of Trevor’s neck.  “Pikachu!”  It offered in return, looking at her directly.  I always have.  Trevor stopped fretting so much when he felt a little shock of electricity, making him breathe normally again.

             “Nightmare tends to do a lot of damage no matter where he is or where we go. I think I’ve lost track of how many times he’s set fire to something in the past month...” She sighed. “I don’t know how I got sucked into being his parole officer, especially since I do such a shit job of it, but it happened and now I have to live with it.” 

        Nightmare wasn’t exactly a POKéMON that could be trained or controlled; Miharu had learnt that over the years. He still attacked her on occasion; although, by now they were more playful rather than him trying to seriously injure her like he had in the past. 

    “ Of course, not.. It hasn’t been found any Mega Evolution          for Pikachu… Are you certain that’s your area of research ? ”

      Incapable to understand the sarcasm, was his way throw a deriding comment, that he simply questioned her knowledge over the case in question. Even Sycamore claimed to know about Mega Evolution, but did he really know about it ? Perhaps, Gurkin was really the only person who Ekkusu could really rely at asking question about the case. 

      A test ? What kind of joke was this ? Sharp eyes narrowed, as his scrawny crossed of his sternum. Cocky of her knowledge wasn’t she ? Ekkusu despised a personality like that, it only made him think that her claims were simply a bunch of lies. She hasn’t yet shown anything that she knew about the process of Mega Evolution.

     “ Test me ? But how do you know that you know more            about Mega Evolution  than me ? ”

             “Wow, you really don’t understand sarcasm, do you?” Which was sad, considering it was her life’s blood. “Of course Pikachu can’t Mega Evolve, it would need to finish off the Evolution Line -- Raichu -- before anyone in the Pikachu line could Mega Evolve, and there hasn’t been any known cases of Mega Evolution for Raichu yet.” 

       She paused at his second question, cocking her head sideways as she thought about the question. “I dunno, experience? I’ve been Mega Evolving...” She trailed off as she started to count off fingers on her hands before she continued with, “fifteen of my POKéMON for a while now, and considering I have...” She restarted counting her fingers before stating, “twenty-five POKéMON capable of Mega Evolution, that’s not too bad, I think, especially since I don’t have all of the Mega Stones yet...”

He offered out his shoulder, trying to get his Pikachu to accept a foreign hand to pet it.  The beady eyes softened slightly, nose coming out to poke at the fingers.  Trevor laughed when Pikachu was being rather nice, “I guess introverts can really get along with each other.”  He felt bad for saying such a thing, “I didn’t mean to say something like that!  Don’t take it offensively.”  

He bowed enough it got Pikachu to shoot across to his other shoulder, trying to rub at his cheek and calm him.  He rubbed at the pointed ears, earning a coo. He glanced at the girl once he straightened back up, “My Pikachu is a lot more guarded than I am.  You’d probably rather speak with Pikachu.”  He nudged the creature to scoot back over so he could hide his face the best he could, watching the pokemon train as he cleared his throat.

          Miharu couldn’t help it, she laughed when Trevor called her an introvert. “No, no, don’t worry. Trust me, you can never insult me, either on accident or on purpose. I don’t take that kind of stuff to heart.” She grinned. “Although, I will say I’m not that much of an introvert, I just like POKéMON a lot more than people. You’re not that bad though. Trust me, I’ve met a lot of assholes in my time.” Oops, perhaps she should watch her swearing -- aw, whom was she kidding? 

          She was distracted briefly from the conversation when she heard a crash from behind her. She turned around but couldn’t see a cause in sight, yet despite that, she shouted into the distance, “Nightmare, you better not be setting the forest on fire again, or so help me!” 

His eyes were wide in excitement until he noticed her expression.  Forcing himself to calm down a bit, he smiled gently, “You could say I’m new.  I’ve been trying to get the hang of actually travelling, but it’s a bit difficult.  All the responsibility can drive me crazy, since I’m the only one strictly following the rules in my group.”  His pokemon battles were fine, but never anything to write home about to his sister.

”Besides!”  He interjected as his Pikachu crawled up his shoulder with excitement, “I think all your pokemon are very well trained for not having a pokedex to give you hints!  If my pokemon worked together half as well as yours did, I’m sure I’d do more competitive activities.”

        She shrugged. “I suppose? I mean, my first POKéMON was Bishamon, and Ralts aren’t your typical starter POKéMON, especially in Kantō; though, I never got an ‘official’ starter.” She’s not even going to mention that she believed eternity was an illusion, brought on by idealism and romanticism. Yet, at least. 

        She can’t help but smile at the Pikachu, and she held out a hand for him to sniff, to judge if she was trustworthy to pet him. She’d never been one to touch a POKéMON without their permission, unless the situation desperately called for it. 

               “Like I said, I’ve been with my POKéMON for a long time, and we’ve been training together a lot too. You’ll get that experience in time,” she stated with a slight smile. Not to mention the fact that she was a former champion ( well, to be exact: a champion that refused the title and thus gave it to the runner-up ), but she didn’t usually share that information ( unless she was flirting with pretty girls ). “Haku, start practising your Thunderbolts again. This time, Nari, you take to dodging. I know it takes a longer time for you to generate the electricity for the move since you’re not exactly an electric type, and we need to bring that up to speed.” 

     «Lil’ bro», now that was a whole lot of confidence she had to even think on calling him that. He just hoped he didn’t cross with other opportunist who wanted to make money with this Mega Evolution characteristic that has been found in Kalos, which is mostly known to have done the first step on it’s research. He chooses to start with something bais, not taking too much effort to talk.

           “Yeah, like Pikachu, right?” she remarked dryly. 

      She wasn’t upset at his suspicion; if anything, she was glad. It was much better to be paranoid and not trust anyone than to just willing give information to anyone who asked for it, especially with such new scientific concepts of Mega Evolution. People have been trying to exploit Mega Evolution for a while, and she’s been trying to stop it too. 

He looked at each pokemon, taking in their features in interest.  “You must know every little thing about them!  I know my pokemon fairly well, besides my…”  He glanced down at his belt, almost feeling his Charmander shake in its pokeball from getting vaguely mentioned.

Something suddenly distracted him when he realized he hadn’t even taken out his pokedex.  He wanted to let her continue training her pokemon, but he did move to stand by her, keeping the pokedex up by his face, “What sort of pokedex do you have, may I ask?”

             “I’ve been with everyone on this team for at least two years now, at most eight, so, yeah, I know everything there is to know about them, and they know everything there is to know about me.” While typically callous while dealing with humans, there’s an especially fond smile as she regards the memories she’s made with her POKéMON. “They’ll be your partners for life if you let them.” 

        She blinks when he moves closer, and the fond smile falls off her face in favour of an awkward one at the random question. “Err, I never got one; didn’t feel the need for it, still don’t feel the need for it. Plus back then, only very few people got POKéMON Zukan -- err, POKéDEX -- and only if they were willing to help out the professors. I just wanted to travel. I assume you’ve got a brand new one, since you’ve just started out, right?” 

Once in possession of his electronic again, he slipped the loop over his neck so it’d be secure.  “I see!  Those are good names!”  He then grew embarrassed, quickly stating, “I’m Trevor, by the way!  I didn’t chose my name…”  He laughed at his bad joke, clapping his hands together.

          Ignoring his bad joke ( aside from the slightest drop of sweat falling from her cheek ), she finally introduced herself. “Mizushima Miharu, but you can call me Miharu. Jolteon’s Nari, Lapras’s Haku. My jerk of a Gengar is somewhere around here; you’ll see him eventually, and his name is Nightmare.” 

          Being unintentionally rude, she abruptly faced away from Trevor in order to watch Haku and Nari’s battle. Haku was continuing to throw Thunderbolts at Nari, who continued to take them and become much healthier. Occasionally, Nari would throw some Thunderbolts to block Haku’s, and they’d collide with a clash.
