Speeding? That was a new one. Set wasn't sure what either of those numbers meant, but their great disparity—and the fact that those dudes in the POLICE uniforms seemed to be sticklers for rules and limitations—told her that what he was in for must have been serious. She wasn't afraid of him, no, but there was an air to him, like he'd done this a million times before, that intimidated even her. Her whole spiel about playing tag with the cops wasn't impressive to anybody else that came before him, so she needed to come up with something—and not just any old thing. Something good.
Murder? No, that was crazy. That was the sort of thing you ended up straight to the Underworld for, one of the very last scenes Set saw in the supercut of somebody's life right before they died as she ate their carcass.
Dognapping? Funny and ironic, but too cartoonish and who the hell cared anyway? (Actually, she would care if there was a rash of dognappings happening in town all of the sudden. Cut from the same cloth, simpatico, all that.)
She straightened up in her spot, eventually deciding to just stand up. What could a girl like her, standing at about 5'3'' and 110 pounds, realistically do? Looking smug, she finally answered, arms folded, "Grand theft." She looked a bit expectant, head tilted up like a child who'd just shown off a report card with all As, hoping for a bit of praise.
She wasn't sure why. He was a complete stranger to her, but everybody was at this point of her journey on Earth. He'd stood out on the fact that he seemed smarter than all the other poor souls that came through the holding cell in the last few hours; he seemed more scoundrel than saint, and she'd had a history (albeit, a toxic one) with those types.
"What's your plan, then? Somebody gonna bail you out?"
