“Nope. Totally concerned by it. I just think it’s the easier avenue to do something about, though. If she leaves? That’s a done deal. No one else gets a say. If she stays…we figure out how to make sure she doesn’t complete an act she regrets.” In his training, Talia had mentioned the pits. How could she not given their involvement in sustaining the League through the years. He was sure she had glossed over them, but he knew enough to know he never wanted to use one. “Listen, I know my history with the Lance family is muddy at best, okay? That I’ve done terrible things to both of them. I don’t want to be that guy anymore. If there’s something that can help make Sara comfortable in her skin again, I want it. And I’m more than happy to show your dad’s minions how I got my league name,” he nudged the bow and arrows resting between his knees as they drove.

“What you need to understand, Mr. Queen, is that you do not get a say, neither does Dinah. Only Sara has a say in how she deals with it because no one else understands what she is going through” Nyssa had dealt with the bloodlust when she was younger, but even she couldn’t completely understand what Sara was going through. “If we are lucky that will not be needed” she replied, though somehow she doubted they would have any luck when it came to this.

The statement took Karen by surprise. How much she resonated with it took her by surprise. The blonde knew the feeling. For a long time, it felt like everyone around her was doomed. Doomed to be hurt or murdered. Her mother, her brother, Ben, Matt, Trish. It took her a long time to change her mindset, but now that her daughter was almost there, she needed to focus on the good. She had Frank. They were going to have Abby. She sighed, “It can feel that way sometimes. I think you just have to focus on the good after a while. Stop letting the bad weigh you down.” 

“That is not bad advice” Nyssa replied, though for her the bad was mostly her father and no matter how hard she’d tried she hadn’t managed to keep him from returning from his grave. “Unfortunately the bad does not seem to want to stay away” or stay dead.

“I didn’t ask for your opinion though?” Dinah arched an eyebrow, crossing her arms in frustration. She could already tell that this was going about as well as her conversation with Ollie had started. “I’m telling you what I’m going to do. Get intel on your shady father. You’re in no condition to do it, and Ollie… I can’t let him do this one. Okay. It’s going to be me.”

“Dinah, this will not end well” Nyssa knew what her father was capable of and she didn’t want either of the Lance sisters near him. “I am asking you, leave my father to me, I will get the Lotus from him” she promised, even if she had to take his deal in order to get the elixir for Sara.

Oliver hummed in response, conveying his skepticism without words. Maybe trust wasn’t the right word choice, maybe Sara was simply underestimating Dinah. While Oliver liked to think of himself as the tactician, the hunter, in he and Dinah’s duo, his partner had a knack for puzzling out problems and finding solutions. She’d made detective for a reason. He still believed they could have come up with ways to ensure everyone’s safety if the bloodlust kicked in. “Yes it is,” he shot back. “The Lance’s are my family. I have wanted to be a part of that family my entire life. What happens with those two, especially when Dinah is involved, is my concern. Top of my totem pole.” He clenched his jaw, always annoyed when he word vomited feelings everywhere, and moved his gaze back to the window. “So let’s get this herb thing so we can make Sara some tea with extra calming powers, and reunite those assholes, yeah?”

“You claim Sara is your family and yet you seem only concerned how Dinah would be affected by her leaving and nothing for how staying would affect Sara” Nyssa told him. She didn’t like that Sara isolated herself and refused help but she understood it, she’d deal with the bloodlust herself, however, not to the extent Sara was now. “It is not an herb, it’s an elixir.”

“Typical,” he muttered, a note of amusement in his tone. This was Sara’s M.O. She seemed to believe solitude was the only way to keep those around her safe. “And yet she doesn’t trust Dinah enough to have a say in this. Dinah would always choose having Sara around as opposed to not. She’s lost too many people. Hell, she’s lost Sara in the past. This Bloodlust thing, she didn’t have to exile herself.” He turned his head to the window, taking in the landscape they would be dealing with. “This thing we’re hunting. It’s a cure right? Not just a temporary fix?”

“I can assure you, Mr. Queen, Sara’s decision to leave have nothing to do with her trust in her sister” Nyssa told him “and believe me, Sara did not make this decision lightly” she knew Sara would have chosen to stay with Dinah if not for the bloodlust. “Taer al-Asfer has lost people too, and how she chooses to handle this is not your concern” the assassin commented. “Yes, I believe so, however, even if it is only temporary it is better than nothing.”

Ra’s let out a growl of frustration, slipping the elixir back into his pocket.  “I trust you are more than capable, daughter, of inventing a story that she will find palatable.  That is none of my concern.  You wanted the elixir.  I am willing to give it to you.  How you convince her to take it, or whether you slip it to her without her knowing, is beyond my knowledge or care.”

“My capability of inventing a lie is not the issue” she didn’t keep secrets from Sara and keeping something like this from her wouldn’t feel right. “I... will consider your offer, for now, I am tired and would appreciate it if you would leave” staying awake for this long had already been a struggle.

Her father?  She did not look especially like Sora, though he could see bits of himself reflected in certain aspects of her features, if he looked carefully.  “And your father left the Demon in your care?  What of himself?”  

He had a feeling there was much more to the story than the tiny scraps he’d been given. 

“I killed him” Nyssa replied “however, if you are anything like him then I am sure you know he has an irritating habit of coming back from the dead” if she could she would have destroyed all the Lazarus pits.

(✉ → Nyssa): Rolls around sooner than you expect. (✉ → Nyssa): Middle name after her godfather too. (✉ → Nyssa): Don’t go overboard with the gifts in the hospital, though. The nurses get touchy about too many dust collectors, though we appreciate it.

Coming back to New York was an easy decision once the world was spun into chaos again. Sofia wasn’t sure if it was magic or something else splitting the realities apart, but she could feel it. But she could also still feel that need for the Darkhold, and there was no one to help her with that – nothing that could stop that feeling. Aside from relief that came in a glass. Which was where she was headed – towards a bar. Though she had her bag and her homework with her, she doubted that she’d get anything done tonight, considering how much pull she was feeling from the darkness. (As much as it pained her to say it, maybe Robbie was right. She had really screwed up.) 

Sofia brushed up against someone and at first, she ignored it. Bumping into people on the streets in New York wasn’t that strange compared to bumping into someone in New Orleans. There was a politeness that came in the South that just… wasn’t here in this city. But noticing something on the ground, Sofia groaned inwardly. They had dropped something. Which meant she’d have to talk to a stranger. Sofia scooped the object up and chased them down, “Wait!” She called out before moving to match pace with them, offering the item to them. “I think you dropped this.” 

Nyssa was still a little weakened and she’d been asked, mostly by Sara, to rest more and take it easy, and she had for the most part. She hated just staying in her apartment though, and since she was feeling slightly better she’d gone for a walk with Shadow. The fact that she hadn’t noticed she’d dropped her phone was a sign she wasn’t a 100% yet. Turning around she gave a small smile when she saw who had noticed her dropped phone and called out to her to give it back. “Thank you” she said, taking her phone from Sofia.

The laugh is immediate, Nyssa treated with an arched brow and bemused expression.  “Really?  Are you meant to be me, then?”  

The Demon, back in his world, was his nation’s secret police, those who monitored for signs of revolution or treason and ensured such plans never came to fruition.  One doesn’t keep control of a country for centuries by playing entirely nicely, though he liked to think he did a good job of keeping his people fed, safe, and largely content.  

“That doesn’t answer why you’re following me.  I assume you thought me to be someone from your world.  Who?”  

“No” Nyssa replied, shaking her head. “In this universe you are, unfortunately, my father” the assassin told him. She wondered briefly if he was here was her father in another universe? Some part of her hoped he was and that he wouldn’t come back, though she also wouldn’t wish her father on any universe.
