Still, the tips of her ears were pink from lying. Because the truth was, after a rather bad day, old habits had taken over, and Nott had been stealing those sweets from a shady twenty-four hour shop.

"Well," Pen started, trying to keep at least a little composure, even when she felt like simply laying down somewhere and not getting up for the rest of the day. It would simply not be very ladylike, and she still had some dignity left, thankfully.

"I told you I am not always the best company. Maybe I should get one of those.... what are they again? Phones?" She was not entirely sure yet how this whole thing really worked. Not even her shop had a landline. It was very old-fashioned. Her assistant was actually handling everything connected to technology in some way. "Then we could talk without having to meet in person. Luke obviously sounded frustrated. He was still a Rookie. Which meant, in cases like this, he would run around searching for witnesses, which was often a really fruitless task. Most people did not want to get involved into whatever was going on. “You are already the fifths person I am asking,” He then added. “It seems no one has seen or heard anything yet.”
“oh it’s- nott!” caleb had never been so happy to see someone. he instantly embraced his dearest friend, holding her close. he had been so worried about her, ever since he began regaining his memories. “how are you? are you okay? are you hurt?” he asked in rapid succession, his anxiety taking over. “i have been so worried, i am so sorry i have not found you sooner.”
.｡.:*☆ "I am fine...." Her words were mumbled against Caleb's chest, almost as if Nott was worried he would vanish again the moment she would let go. Because losing her best friend twice with whatever was going on here.... well, let's just say, Nott was not as brave as people often claimed her to be.
"And not hurt. But you should still try not to crush me." She chuckled weakly. "Also, it is not your fault. This is a very strange city, and I have no idea what kind of magic even brought us here to begin with?"
