“You never know,” she grinned and stood up. “This might be your lucky day.” Or maybe it was just another day as Mystery Incorporated. He wasn’t wrong that 90% of the time these things were a hoax, but it was the 10% that made it worth wild for adrenaline junkies. Neither of them would admit it, but that’s exactly what they were. “Occam’s razor says we should try the simplest solution first which means we should go for the breaker box. It’s this way, I think.” She started walking toward the back of the building. “Let’s just hope that if it is a ghost, she’s not as malicious as Sarah Ravencroft was.” That was the first ghost hunt where Thorn ran into the gang, and unfortunately for them Sarah was a very real and very dangerous ghost.

Ambie chuckled softly “Oh yeah I’m sure all those people love your sleuthing skills being used on their cases.” He replied looking at the other after all he didn’t hanging out with Fred it was nice actually having another friend. “That’s sounds amazing, sure I’ll help you take a look at it and hopefully you’ll take home the prize.” He replied before taking the hose to water his dog. “That she is, have you heard from the rest of your gang lately?”

Ambie smiled watching Fed and the dog she seemed quite happy to play and be adored by the male which he couldn’t fault her. “I suppose I wouldn’t mind so long as there is no trouble involved I am trying to give my Sister a break from such things.” he mused before turning on the water to wash off his dog in the little pool chuckling. ‘She may just follow you home, better be careful Fred.” he teased.

 “I  would  too,”  he  agreed.  “She’s  a  pretty  sweet  ride.”  His  own  car  was  parked  right  beside  the  Mystery  Machine.  He  managed  to  swipe  the  spot  before  the  Karen  could  get  it  which  pissed  her  off  to  begin  with,  but  as  soon  as  he  started  filling  the  meter  for  the  Mystery  Machine  too,  he  was  sure  her  head  was  gonna  explode.  “Nah,  you  don’t  owe  me  anything,”  he  assured  the  kid.  “It’s  all  in  a  day’s  work.”  He  shot  the  Karen  a  grin  as  she  drove  off  while  flipping  the  bird  at  both  of  them.  New  Yorkers.  He  raised  an  eyebrow  when  the  kid  said  his  name  was  Fred.  He  shouldn’t  have  been  surprised  considering  this  world  has  a  lot  of  heroes  already.  “I’m  Dean,”  he  shook  the  kid’s  hand.  “Dean  Winchester.”

It was late and she was rehearsing for a show when the lights in the studio began to flicker. Thorn stopped and sighed before looking over at her companion. “They say these old studios are pretty haunted, but what building in New York isn’t?” she shrugged. “Come on, let’s go see if we’re dealing with a ghost or just a shitty electrical wiring system.”

“Not a problem,” she grinned as he bent down to tie his shoes. “it was probably the easiest save i’ve made in admittedly very long my career.” she just wanted to make sure he didn’t trip while crossing the road. there was a 50/50 chance you got run over by an angry cabbie doing that. “i’ve seen you on this trail before. what’s your name?”

            useful for catching small animals? diligence hoped. this guy didn’t seem much like a monster hunter, he seemed a bit too kind for that. dil blinked. “m-mystery solver?” it was an unusal term. perhaps he was a detective of some sort? most likely. that explained the traps, sort of. “mystery inc, i believe i’ve heard of you.” some articles pertaining their adventures took his interest more than once. calmer, diligence offered his hand. “i’m dil,” he introduced. “you and your friends do a lot of good, thank you.”

his smile was so bright. like a million little sunshine’s, burning brightly and beautifully. it made her feel warm in a way no one else did. daphne could only wonder if fred had any idea how wonderful his smile was. telling him wasn’t a possibility though. they were friends after all. and if he didn’t see the hints she dropped in the past, that made itself clear. she wouldn’t lose his friendship over a crush, he was far too important. “we could look together,” she offered him. it wasn’t a mystery mystery like with the gang. it would just be them finding some people. very different. (also very tempting, the idea of spending alone time with him and a mystery. it was like a dream come true). “if you want to, that is.” she added the last sentence, careful not to make him feel cornered to spend time with her. there was always the fear that maybe he had picked up her hints in the past, and him not saying anything was his rejection… either way it was, it was clear he wasn’t interested. and she had to be okay with that, because she loved him far too much to not have him in her life. “we could also ask the others if they want to come to?” she offered, a bit hastily in her fear of his rejection of the idea.

                 “even bertha?” she teased him good heartedly, though she did appreciate the sincerity in his response to her interruption. “i feel honored.” she laughed (the special kind of laugh reserved for the gang of mystery inc, typically triggered by a certain ascot wearing man). “with you at the helm i’m sure she’s always ready.” it was surprising the amount of high speed chases they got stuck into that bertha always pulled through, with fred’s driving of course. “me?” he cared, the high schooler in her swelled with affection (also her current self, but that was a far less tier). “i’m good, i just dropped off an artifact from the last case at that cute little magic shop! it looked right at home.”

         “a trap?” diligence responded with a note of confusion in his tone as his brain processed through all the variables of jobs a trap could be used for, before selecting the one that seemed the most reasonable. “are you a hunter of some sort?” perhaps one of those supernatural hunters? dil hoped it didn’t mean the lad wanted to kill him, that’d be a tedious situation if so.
