brief history ::
At the youngest of ages, their parents emphasized to the two boys how special they were. They were twins, carbon copies of one each other down to the last strand of DNA. They were dressed in similar clothes, given the same toys, and almost brought up as one entity rather than two distinct entities. With repeated disappoint from “family” who couldn’t even tell the two apart, they sunk into despair with a realization that no one would ever be able to not look at them like a single unit and that their individuality was forever compromised. The permanent effect this had on the twins was an antagonizing juxtaposition: the desire to be told a part, and the desire to protect themselves from being utterly disappointed. A lot of these issues remain unresolved and it’s formed a lofty barrier that makes it very difficult for anyone to pass into their world.
From a middle-high family income, the twins sought to pick a career seated in the ephemeral, something that never had a true attachment and would allow the boys to escape a humdrum, land-locked existence. Upon graduating high school, the twins took to the net for advice and discovered personal stewards aboard luxury vessels as something that sounded appealing. They thought it was pure genius, they would never have to really get to know anyone, travel around the world, and mess with all the people they wanted to without any major consequences (the latter most being one of their favorite activities to do).
Their charm and reluctance to be apart won the hearts of many employers, and as a result, found themselves aboard many luxurious liners. The two were remarked by passengers by their incredibly personable interactions. They had become somewhat popular as their eighteenth year advanced with customers looking them up in cruise staff directories, often igniting bidding wars between them to see who would have the twins. While the logical conclusion would be to split the twins to double the gross income, the Oerba twins would have nothing of it (often ending in an boisterous outburst by Harlan). Between these disagreements and the twins harmless, juvenile pranks on staff and passengers, pursers from cruise to cruise have been dismissing them from service, forcing them to start the chain all over again.
The MS Grand Roqual is the twin’s final test as they’re starting to find the cruise-game becoming quite boring.

“I’unno how much more I can take of this,” Harlan said, fluffing a pillow in his hands before gently setting it down upon the plush, king-sized bed in the first class cabin. Apathy was starting to fill him; he had been on a few maiden voyages before and remembered the excitement and energy he used to have doing tasks like this, however mundane.
“I know, Harlan,” Sky’s voice was tinged with sadness, not wanting to admit that this charade was starting to come to a close. Although their tones were very similar, Sky’s took on a more soft, raspy tone than his brother’s, the likes of which would be nearly indistinguishable if they were speaking in unison which they often tended to do. Sky, who was dusting a mantel, set down his feather brush and walked over to Harlan who was fluffing another pillow. He bent down slightly so he was looking up towards Harlan, whose gaze was indistinguishable. “Harlaaaan,” he said, bobbing his head around to get his attention. He didn’t like seeing his brother get upset.
“Whaaaat?” Harlan tossed the pillow at Sky’s face, causing Sky to take the pillow and smash it over Harlan’s head. Before long, it was an all out brawl between the twins. Anything that one of them could grab was being used to smash over the other’s head, or chest, or stomach. “ARGHHH,” Harlan yelled, starting to chase Sky around the cabin with a pillow. With a dramatic leap, he had managed to tackle Sky straight to the ground, nearly suffocating him with the pillow as…
..they heard the door creak slowly open.
Two cute blonde woman opened the door and marveled at the beautiful, spacious setting before setting their eyes upon the ship staff who were on the floor, on-top of each other. They didn’t know how to react to the sight of two handsome young men just.. lying on the floor like that, twins no less. Their blue eyes were wide with surprise.
Sky and Harlan acted quickly, getting up and onto their feet and tossing the pillow aside in the most inconspicuous of ways (that they could given the circumstance). Sky then wrapped his right arm around Harlan’s waist, Harlan mimicking the motion with his left arm. With their opposite arms out-stretched to either side of them, they wore a large smile and said in perfect unison, “Welcome aboard the MS Grand Roqual, ladies. How may we be of service,” continuing their perfect unison, they bowed together in sync.
There’s was a moment of silence.
…
They, unsurprisingly to the twins, ate it up. While the two ladies celebrated the beginning of the ‘most awesomest trip ever’, the twins looked towards each other and cast grins, knowing quite well what the other was thinking. If this was going to be their last cruise, they were going to milk it for all it was worth.
