I need every single person to understand how horrible tumblr’s tagging system is
I go into the tag for epilepsy and its all flashing lights. We can’t use our own tag because people without epilepsy fill it up with improper warnings.
Use ‘flashing’ in place of ‘epilepsy’ in your tags. You aren’t warning people of epileptics, you’re warning us of flashing lights. Please please tag properly. Epileptics say this endlessly and constantly and it’s ignored. You are risking lives by doing this.

I have not stopped thinking about mister Carl Thonius from the Warhammer 40k Ravenor series. A good sad boy.

For those who have missed it, a tourist in Hawaii decided it would be fun to chuck a rock (a BIG rock) at a monk seal. He missed, but he was captured on video, and when told it was illegal to interfere with them, said "I'm rich, I can pay the fine."
Is the best part that he got doxxed? No.
Is the best part that he got tracked down by a local and beaten? No.
Arrested on state at federal charges, looking at up to 5 years and 50K? Nope.
The best part is the local city council's reaction.
And the best part of that is the look on the attorney's face.

After the incident, another video went viral showing what appeared to be that man getting a beating. The Maui Police Department said they had no record of any reports of disorderly conduct or assault related to the monk seal incident.
Even the local police are being cool about this.

My mom inherited two pianos with her new house and one is gorgeous and a very rare 1840s model from a company that no longer exists and you’re thinking ‘Oh, that’s awesome! Score!’ No. It has a cast iron base and it has been there so long it is warping the floor. It is unplayable and she has had the piano tuner over multiple times. She feels like she can’t just junk it because it is a rare antique worth thousands if it was in good condition but it is in horrible condition and it is too heavy to be moved or sold and it is FUBAR and taking up space. My mom plays piano and the other piano is perfectly playable but it is cheap and hideously ugly. She has the beautiful piano that is useless and the useful piano that does not match the decor. And we know exactly why the last owners didn’t bother moving either of them. Two white elephants and she is now in charge of herding them.

One of the root problems of our society is a refusal or inability by media to articulate that all those “it’s gonna be an apocalypse” disasters were not disasters because we collectively did something about them.
The good news is this is actually quite correctable. I maintain my firm belief that we as humans are capable of solving almost all of our problems, when we decide to do so.
And I still think that’s going to happen. I don’t know when or how, but I do know that abandoning hope won’t help bring it about.
And I refuse to let the cynics own a chunk of my heart.
