loud fanboy strikes again

‘Outpost’ was perhaps a bit of a stretch for this particular station– maybe it had once belonged to the Empire, but it was long abandoned. Now, it was a hub for morally dubious businesses and illicit dealings. 

No one was looking to get caught, so all of the businesses were run out of ships docked alongside the main station. This way, at the first hint of trouble the place could be empty within a few minutes. It also allowed them to have an easy rotation of businesses. A space belonging to an organ dealer one day might belong to a well-known bounty hunter or a smuggler the next. 

None of those were why Cipher Four had visited the station, though. No, she was chasing one particular rumor. 

“Hello,” She called out, knocking at the entrance of one particular shop. She’d heard he wasn’t around often, liked to travel around to different stations and worlds, so she was lucky to catch him when she did (that’s a lie, she had very detailed info and it had nothing to do with luck). 

he’s in the middle of finishing setting up when someone comes in through the entrance of the shop. 

unfamiliar. stoic. statuesque. immediately, it sets him on edge - there was something wooden about her, impossible to decipher, and he didn’t like that. he was a straight forward person, and anyone who had something to hide here was hiding something surely terrible. whether it was terrible for him was another matter to determine.

“you’ve come to the right place,” he says, a forced smile on his face. he’s practiced these words, knows they’re meant to sound welcoming, but they come out of his mouth awkward and robotic. 

Naz hasn’t stepped foot on Arkania in a long time - space is no less cold, no less empty, no less vile, and so he figures he’s not missing out on much. It is a tad lonely out here; he has his droid, a bratty little thing with no respect for authority and a database on nearly everything, but it’s not substitute for companionship.

Ideally, he should have a more stationary base than this, but a stolen ship is much harder to land than he’d originally planned.

It’s a fatal flaw to admit he hadn’t thought this far ahead, but it would be an even worse one to admit it, considering that he can’t exactly go back. He doesn’t want to either, but the can is more important here. A genius by universal standards, but being barely average on his own planet was not quite enough. There’s only so much success he can have in a place where everyone is - it pains him to say it - smarter than him.

At least like this, he’s in a position to make money, make a name for himself. Infamy is not quite what he’d had in mind, but he’s got a constant stream of clients trying to reach him, flying out to his ship, paying good money for undocumented cybernetics and procedures.

So no, it’s not ideal - but it’s most certainly better than going back.
