the band had a short time after they finished recording AFYCSO in late July 2005 to come up with the title, album art concept, and everything else before they started touring. Here’s what Spencer said on 10/5/05:
The album artwork was an idea that was…me and Ryan were on the phone at like three in the morning one night and we had this elaborate idea for an album cover and the artwork, and it would’ve cost way more money than we had. And we just didn’t have the time, or the right people to do it. So then it was just kind of like, it changed, the idea, like seven times within one week. But it was all kind of based around the same kind of idea how, like on the record, how the first half is kind of like it sounds more now. It sounds more like something a little bit new, a little different. And the second half sounds, you know. It has…there’s like a jazz song, and you know. So basically we had pictures where the upper half might be some picture in black and white of some lady from the 50’s, and the legs under the table that go with her body are like some supermodel’s high quality photo. Just kind of like two different halves that are just completely different, and I don’t know. And that’s really it. And if you see any of the people’s faces on billboards or websites, it’s because…we were going to use pictures that we found in magazines, but then we would’ve gotten sued for that. So we had to use pictures off websites that you can legally use. So it’s not like a weird coincidence if you see it on somewhere.
